Slim-Fast (Started using it today)

Did anyone have any success with this?

Starting today I have gone a 1200 calorie a day diet.
I have the slim fast in the morning, water, some fruit, then dinner (about 800-900 cals) and then some more fruit.

I work out for about 30-45mins everyday.

Im gonna try that for a week and see hwo it works. Today I weigh 182 lbs.

The stuff tastes REALLY bad, but dunno how it works.

Anyone use it before?

I remember when I use to be a skinny fuck. That was a year ago, I was weighing 135. And Ive been like that for years,a twig. But then I started drinking a case of coronas nearly every weekend this summer, up until now, and I gained the weight! Im now 171, I look so much better, I feel fucking great having a beer belly being a fat fuck!

ok Im not THAT fat, but its a def improvement compared to how i used to look.

Fuck the diet man, just put on more pounds and enjoy life.

I lost 40 lbs with the slim fast diet
went from 260 to 220 in 3 months
the problem is that you just think about food all day long and sometime, even if you're strong, you can't resist a burger.
Plus, when you reach your desired weight, it's very difficult to keep it off, unless you really increase your exercise time.
I found that the best way to lose weight was to exercise intelligently and eat good food...
I used a trainer for a while, and now, I eat almost all the shit I want and I can kick ass

I was thinking of losing weight, but I got no clue how. I'm 235 now. My problem I eat when I'm bored. It is not a problem to stay away from food. And also I;m addicted to Coke (soda).

Drinking coke is my problem also. That shit is so bad for you but so hard to put down. I went to a trainer for a while but it was too early in the morning for me.

I've only tried the slimfast shakes one time but I thought the chocate ones were pretty good. A friend told me you need to buy the pre-made ones and not the powder. I guess they taste better.

Atkins is the way to go, you dont have to starve .If you work out and and do it the weight falls off. A good site is www.atkinsfriends.com this young girl and her bf created the site after losing weight and they sell products and have forums. Make a boat load of money.

Diets don't work... You need a lifestyle change. What happens in a few months when you have lost the weight and get off Slim Fast? You go right back to eating the way you did before the diet.

Try This

Atkins is a lifestyle, most on weight watchers gain back all the weight they lost. living a life fighting hunger eventually the body will weaken.

Cut down on the fruit, veggis instead (too much sugar in fruit, and quite a bit in the shakes too)

1200 cal. a day is what my body mass should be consuming (137lb female) so I have to say you're cutting it down a bit too much. You shouldn't go below 1700 if you're that active of a guy, and even that might be low.

What kind of workout are you doing?
If you're wanting to lose weight you should focus mostly on cardio ~ try splitting your workout to 30 min. on the bike in the morning, and in the evening a warm up of 15 minutes, some weights for 30, and top it off with another 20-30 minutes cardio.

about 9 months ago I went and saw nutritionist. She told me not to do any of those shake diets but to just cut calories and exercise. She said the average person needs between 2000-2500 calories a day and can have up to around 50-60 grams of fat a day and not gain weight. so to lose weight cut calorie intake to around 1700-1800 a day and cut fat to about 20 grams a day and exercise. So far I've lost about 55lbs ( I pretty much ate like crap during the holidays but am back to normal now )

Also I suggest getting rid of dairy foods and red meats. Red meats are bactieria infested and the sole reason for cows milk is to take a 75lbs calf and turn it into a 600 lbs cow as fast as possible. also she told me to cut out as much refined sugar as possible. problem is refined sugar is in everything so don't just buy " low fat food" because typically low fat translates to tastes like shit so they pack it full of sugar to make it taste better.

I weigh 150 lbs....been the same weight since high school. I recently found out I had low blood sugar. To manage it properly I had to cut out refined sugar and eat carbs in handful portions, I couldn't eat that plate of pasta anymore. My usual dinner is 1 chicken breast, 1 handful potatoes or rice and a salad. The only sugar I consume is from fruit. I've lost weight since I have started this and it will work for someone who has a weight problem. It is near impossible to do, even for me who doesn't have an eating problem. You wouldn't beleive the hold sugar has on you until you stop eating it. It is in everything! I have some friends that struggle with their weight and have tried atkins/slimfast/weight watchers....but they never keep it off. You have to make a lifestyle change...you can't live to eat, you have to started eating to live. Just think of food as fuel is to a car. And if you can't do that, you could always sue Hersheys and live like a king

Thanks for so many positive comments.

Ok here is some more info:

The workout that I do consists of a bit of cycling, a bit of running and a bit of weights and push ups. (I do this everyday.. 7-days a week)

As for the food, I have cut down on everything, (man I miss 4 jr. bacon cheeseburgers at wendy's, fries and a large coke)...

I drink only water, eat a bit of fruit, dinner is much smaller. Its really hard for me to do but im trying my best. Well its my first day so ill see how long I can last.

I burn fat fast but I just eat too much, I usually have breakfest, then lunch with some friends at school, then ill see soemone else and have some more food, then ill come home have dinner, then i might go out for dinner and then have lots of midnight snacks. Im gonna change that cause I rather have a better looking body than enjoy the food.

My goal is to loose 15lb of fat in about 6 weeks.

Any more tips that anyone can offer?

I drink protein shakes (yes ~ ha ha) as a quick fix when I can't have a real meal, but the good ones can be expensive. I've been buying frozen chicken in bulk because it's cheap, and eggs 5doz at a time because if refridgerated they never go bad.

Increase your protein, decrease your carbs (unless of course you have a condition), eat lots of green veggies, and up your cardio.

This is the equation to equal health.

Get your BF % measured professionally.

Eat five or six small meals a day.

No carbs after 6pm because you don't burn them sleeping.

Get an appetite supressant like Xenadrine ~ it's a natural ECA stack (ephedrine/caffine/aspirin) which increases your body temperature and helps you burn even more fat.

My parents have been big into the Amway/Quixtar world, and they have a great program that's produced some great results. Maybe worth checking out, if you're REALLY looking to lose that weight.

That's good too ~ it has a replacement that will still have the same ECA effects.

I didn't say no food ~ you don't want to starve, just eat better, smaller portions, and more frequently.
A chicken breast or a shake two hours after dinner is good (especially if it's after an evening workout).

Do not worry about it, we are saying:

when comes the bad time the fat ones will become slim
and the slim ones become dead.

I will be the dead one then, should I do something about it?

Noon is too early in my opinion ~ as early as 4pm if you want to push the envelope.
I'm a carbaholic too, and I allow myself some oatmeal and maybe toast in the morning, but very limited after that and NONE after 6.

I'm no expert, I just listen a lot and I know what works for me personally. And remember, diet doesn't do it alone, you have to incorporate some kind of exercise or you'll risk losing muscle ~ and flabby-skinny is not attractive, nor does it feel good.

Never looked at the Atkins Tony... I know my mother as well as several other people who have been very sucessful with Weight Watchers though and I had a brief 20lbs run with it as well. I just like to drink beer, eat large steaks, and sit infront of this shit box too much to do it.

another thing the nutritionist told me is to not eat big meals ( like others above had said ) and eat more smaller meals throughout the day. She told me just eat when you are hungry, only eat small amounts. She says that if you are hungry for more than about 30 minutes then you body starts to go into a "starve" mode and it will be more likely to store fat when do eat so just eat small meals all day long.

My trainer told me the same thing. It's better to eat four or five small meals all day and not one or two big ones. I generally have a big dinner and that's it besides some snacking. It doesn't make sense how it could actually be better to consume more food overall but in small quantities.

Your body becomes a more efficient machine if it's well oiled.

if you eat small amounts all day long it keeps your body working and digesting so it increases your metabolism

Makes sense I guess. Like someone said in another post, it's about a lifestyle change altogether. Right now though it's a pain to try and eat small meals all day, I end up forgetting and slipping back into old habits.

Buy smaller amounts at the store.
It's more expensive, but you are forced to eat smaller.

After a while you can buy larger amounts and won't overeat because you've built the good habits and your stomach will have shrunk ~ making it painful to overeat.

I got in the habit of going to the store every other day. The bonus to that is you always have fresh vegis, and you can plan your meals to be more savory.

Atkins works if you commit to a lifestyle change. It's not for those who want to lose a few and then go back to binging and gorging. I've lost 45 lbs. since the end of July on Atkins, and I was able to discontinue my diabetes meds at the end if the first week. Bye-bye Supersize fries.

yep carbs are the worst.

The atkins thing is good, I usually eat lots of red meat and meat in general, but a huge bowl of green salad and veggies every day.

Especially if you drink more than a case of beer a week hehe... eating this way will keep you quite healthy. Working out helps too. Keep your metabolism as fast as you can.

I've found that slim fast kind of sucks, its like riding your bike to work because you want to save gas in your car. Not worth the pain and suffering. You are better off eating a juicy t-bone steak and a small salad.

And there is always colonics.

Did you know that when the coroner did the autopsy on John Wayne there was 40 pounds of feces in his colon and intestine?

That's one big dump.

So forget Slim Fast, just chow down on a box of Ex-Lax and lock yourself in the bathroom for a few days.

I agree that Atkins is the best if you need to loose over 10lbs. But that shouldn't give you a license to eat all fat. I ate mostly chicken, fish, shrimp, lean meats, eggs and salads over 6 weeks and lost 30lbs. The best part is you never get "shakey" hungry because the protein diet controls your insulin levels. Later, you can just watch the carbs and it's easier to maintain a healthy weight.

One thing about Atkins is you should get a good fiber suppliment (eg. sugar-free metamucil) and drink lots of water. Without little carbs in your diet, you may have trouble getting the "train out of the station." That's no fun.

Also, I absolutely hate jogging but it's the most efficient way to burn calories, and keep your cardio system healthy.

My whole family is on Herbal Life and it's amazing !!
The shakes takes sooooooo good It's a bit pricy but well worth it. If anybody here has tried it they'll know what I'm talking about.

We split 2 1/2 tablespoons of the meal replacement in a drink or yogurt plus their normal meals. This gives them all the vitamins they need for the day. My 3yr. old is on brazilian tea which helps with A.D.H.D (Herbal Life also) and it's working quite well.

My mother and father sell Herbal Life so we got a nice little package at christmas
We've been on it since dec.26th and you'd be amazed at how much better you feel with it.

It's alot healthier for you then Slim Fast or anything else out there.

Why drink a yukky tasting Shake packed full of junk when you could be eating lots of really good food and lose weight? One really good thing to do is get into the habit of keeping a 2 litre bottle of water by your desk and keep taking drinks, often the feeling of hunger is your body response to de-hydration (coffee and cola can make the situation worse and you'll feel more hunger pangs). Make a batch of veg soup and snack on it during the day when you're peckish, don't deprive you're body of carbs, complex carbohydrate increase your metabolic rate and help your body to burn more fat by giving off a steady stream of fuel. Make sure you have an intake of 1,250 - 1,500 calories a day to ensure that you lose fat rather than muscle and eat really nice tasting food so that you ENJOY the whole experience

Those who hate spending hours doing cardio

http://www.musclemedia.com/training/hiit.asp

Ever go to the gym and see people that are there all the time but they look the same. Its because they stick to old rules that dont work. Most nutritionals dont have a clue for weight loss and next time you want to hire a personal trainer ask to see their before pic, if they look the same. Then its genetics not knowledge dont use them.

Herbal Life's shakes are far from "yukky" LOL.
Straight up or mix in some fruit and ice.

In just one shake you've got all the vitamins you'll need for the day.
Herbal Life is not just for ppl tryign to lose weight. There are three diffrent programs all from the one shake.

-maintenance (1 shake a day (better in the morning) with your normal meals)

-weight lose (replace breakfast and lunch with a shake and have a sensible dinner)

-weight gain (three shakes with all of your meals)

You can just use the meal replacement shakes but it works better when you're on the whole program.

Slimfast actually coats the fat molecules in as such it causes food you eat to simply pass through you which is why it will cause u to lose weight...however, the problem is that in doing so it stops your body from absorbing any vitamins, minerals or aminos in the food you eat....after a few months when your hair starts falling out, your skin looks like a 90 year old and your losing your sight...you will will at least be slim
