One marcher said they deserved to not be treated like criminals. Fine...then don't be a criminal. If you're here legally, then you won't be treated like a criminal under the proposed legislation. If the children are our future, then we're in trouble.

The economics don't work like that, won't work like that, and can't work like that. But for most illegals, it's better to be here working for minimum wage than it is to be in their own country without work.

No, you're not. I paid my legal Brazillian housekeeper a lot more than I could have gotten an illegal Mexican for. Ditto for the guys who just cut down a tree for me. Some of us still believe that doing things the legal way is right. Amazing how many don't follow that logic

That's a complex data set that there is a wide disparity of opinions on.

I have great respect for people that work hard which is why I'm such a staunch defender of their rights. I learned a lot about their culture and their feelings about the US and such.

I don't know if anyone is aware of this but the number of illegals are underreported in a major way. Not just hispanics but Asian, West Indians, Eastern Europeans and others.

Another very little known fact is the Treasury Departments / SSA's "Earnings Suspense Database Files."

Because illegals use made up SS numbers on their W2's, when the Treasury Dept started to really look at the number of mismatched statements they were staggering. During the 1990's alone the government had to literally "stash" and set aside as "unknown suspense" over $189 Billion of wages that weren't in sync with real SS numbers. The government makes money from all the deductions out of this for social security and medicare that they'll never have to pay out on. Plus since these people can't file income tax returns, the government keeps all the tax money deducted out and never has to issue them a tax refund. This is one of the real reasons the government has hesitated to clamp down on the borders. Just like the big corporations, the government is profiting by taking in billions of dollars from these people.

Uh, they aren't TAKING the money. They are being GIVEN the money by people who are illegal. What do YOU propose they do with it? I think the immigration policy needs to be opened up further. The job market that used to be covered by 15 - 18 year olds has totally disappeared. I can't drive past a gas station or fast food place without seeing a sign saying "Now Hiring". Even McDonald's uses their marquee to display wage rates trying to get people to work ($9.50/hour - I would've loved to have made that when I was in high school!). Kids are so spoiled now, nobody wants those jobs. I'm surprised business owners aren't pushing for an unskilled labor immigration category.

What the fuck does he think, they'll start shooting Mexicans next.

We have 20,000 miles of borders. You could sneak in to this country from offshore in a power boat if you wanted to.

Haitians come in by boat offshore, jump out and just swim onshore to the beaches in Florida every week. Coast Guard catches a few, but most of them get in no problem.

The job market that used to be covered by 15 - 18 year olds has totally disappeared. I can't drive past a gas station or fast food place without seeing a sign saying "Now Hiring". Even McDonald's uses their marquee to display wage rates trying to get people to work ($9.50/hour - I would've loved to have made that when I was in high school!). Kids are so spoiled now, nobody wants those jobs.
