So I was reading up on the difference between the two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble, along with the benefits to both. Most of the things on the soluble I must admit I do not care for, or do not get enough of by a long shot. One of the suggestions was to do a smoothie to try and work this into your daily diet, or lifestyle if you will. Then you can drink away you daily allotment of fruits.
Keep in mind, I am not talking about your sugar packed MceeDees smoothie I have been doing a few different combinations between the raspberries, OJ, blueberries, strawberries, non-fat yogurt, and so forth. Most I can't say I care for, although I have never been big on most of these things to begin with. Especially with banana. I can choke them down, but I was wondering if anyone has some good combo's they can recommend for smoothie mixes that actually taste good, yet manage to get in your fruits for the day? Fire away ladies. ![]() |

My smoothie is as follows:
1/3 cup of Boathouse farms Green smoothie mix. 1 cup of water 1 scoop of protein powder 1 scoop of Garden of Life Green drink 1 scoop of Citrucel fiber powder It's all about getting my greens, but my poops are classic no-wipers.

I have two big spoonfulls of wheat germ in my muscle milk shakes every morning...It scrapes my colon daily....I also take a marine fiber called Chitosan whenever I eat something fatty...I the morning, I poop pudding that sticks to the bottom of the toilet bowl even after the flush.

BF....I have a Smoothie every morning and I have tried to cut it down on the calories along the way and here is where I am at.....
First, I get the non-fat yogurt in the single containers and I put them in the freezer...the cheap kind is actually the best. Then I get some fresh berries and I put them in the freezer (you can get frozen ones if they are 100% natural). Take one yogurt out of the freezer and peel off the foil top and put it in the microwave for no more than 30 seconds (just long enough so that you can get it out of the container in one chunk). Put it in the blender along with some frozen berries. I usually add one whole banana, as well (trick: if your bananas are starting to turn brown before you eat them, cut them up and put them in a zip lock and freeze them too). So now that all of my fruit and yogurt are in the blender I add just enough Trop50 Orange Juice so that it will blend. Even though the Trop50 is the healthiest OJ I could find, it is still the worst part of this whole thing so dont add too much. Blend and drink. I eat it along with a nice bowl of Fiber One cereal.....yes, I am getting old....so what? --T |

this has 8g soluble fiber and 7g insoluble + all the fruit you require. add it to 1 scoop protein powder + 1 cup almond milk. or you can simply add it to your current smoothie mix, it has a very nutty flavor along with very exotic fruit flavors.

Green smoothies are the way to go but you can't use a cheapo blender because you will have chunks. Fuck taste, green smoothies make you feel so good it really is a not an issue. Make sure to add fat like olive oil and raw flax seeds.
Why non fat yoghurt? Non fat/low fat diets are 150% bullshit. You need fat to make use of all the nutrients. Get a vitamix or blendec and you will be loving life and hot healthy girls will want to come over to use it. |

Screw all that. Make protein sludge and freeze it or just make it and drink it.
4 scoops protein 2 tbsponn crunchy PB 2 packets of splenda 1 cup of organic fat free milk All under 1,000 calories, over 100g of protein, and filling as hell.

I have found the frozen is a much easier way to go when you can. I am also experimenting with the fresh fruits, as I would think it's better for you. But you have to use them up fairly quick or they spoil. Quote:

i totally agree. moreover, hormone production such as testosterone (and more) is directly tied to fat. +, removing fat is really another processing step, i.e., non-fat milk is more processed than whole milk. i'm eating a lot of fatty foods these days to promote my health.

I have eliminated 90% of the beef, and swapped it out for turkey breast when possible, which has helped. I do not notice much of a difference beyond texture. I have also cut way down the Diet Coke (by 2/3), and added in the Sobe and other waters to make up my fluids. So I drink at least double, if not triple what I used do. I do not drink milk, coffee, tea, beer, etc.. I did read an article last weekend saying that you should have a day that you eat whatever you want. Some how, some way, this keeps your body tricked up for the fats and other stuff you cut out the rest of the week. |

Bare you mentioned that you want something better tasting. You really don't like the taste of fruit? Fruit is one of my favorite tastes. Have you tried other kinds?

Which is why when I look at your recommended daily servings of fruit and veggies I just cringe. Not so much on the veggies, but the fruits are typically impossible for me to fit in given a choice in the matter. A smoothie would help solve that to some degree as I can choke down at least one of those in the A.M.. I am trying some different combo's trying to find something I like. So far I can't say any are really tasting good, and some of them are over powering (at least for me). I still drink it down, but I would like something a bit better tasting, yet just as healthy. |

This has already been said above, but I want to re-iterate it. You can't use the bananas until they are starting to turn brown. Otherwise they make your smoothie a little bitter. And yes, freezing them once they start turning brown is a great idea. I've started putting ground flax seed in too. Hope you find a great combo you like!

1.fill up half the blender with kale, spinach, cilantro, parsley etc
2. add some carrots, beets, celery, cucumber, etc 3. add some ice 4. add raw flax seeds, olive oil, avocado 5. whatever else you desire as far as protein (always avoid soy as it is peasant food and is almost certainly genetically modified garbage) Always use organic ingredients and re-mineralized reverse osmosis/distilled/ or filtered well water because tap water has fluoride and chlorine in it which are highly toxic. (no point in spending extra money on organic food when you drink poison every day) |

I use Take Charge and Greek yogurt for breakfast. When I juice, I do it by color. I try to add something from every color I can think of, even stuff I would not normally eat. Add an apple or a pear to any blend and it becomes relatively tasty. And yes, I mix fruits and veggies in the same blend.

if your not worried about spiking insulin levels or losing weight too much smoothies are a great way to get your fibre in. Definitely want to buy your fruits in bulk when they are on sale and freeze them into single servings. Way easier to do it this way and despite what most people think freezing fruits and vegetables doesn't cause much nutritional loss at all. Also gives it an icecream/frozen yogurt kind of taste.
My basic smoothie is: -2 cups apple juice as a base, i find it less overwhelming than OJ which takes over the taste. - 1 single serving container of Low fat yogurt, not to watch my figure but i just find it leaves less of an after taste. -2 ounces of blueberries -4 ounces of strawberries -2 ounces of bananas (not always but sometimes) if you really don't like the taste of fruit I would suggest low fat milk as a base (again because the other stuff is just too rich to drink) and throw in some sugar free cocoa or chocolate and some natural peanut butter.. mask all that up... however you do get caffeine from the chocolate and there's some added calories so depends on where your priorities are at i guess.

Yeah, I think I may end up doing the frozen deal like you and SweetP recommended. Simply sounds easier, and better way to do it. Now I just need to find out some tasty smoothies. Additionally, I do not drink these all day. One is more than enough for me. |

That is 'almost' identical to the one I made this morning. Minus the extract and milk.
