I don't know exactly what your goals are so it depends on whether your focusing on putting on muscle or leaning down. This is a PREFERENCE question so your going to get alot of opinions. No one that I know has actually scientifically proved the optimal order of cardio/weight training sessions.

If you do your cardio first, you are using up the available glycogen that is built up in your muscles and therefore your weight lifting session will suffer afterwords in my opinion. I would personally recommend doing cardio AFTER your weight training because doing cardio after weight training puts your body in a state where you are able to burn more fat than normal because the glycogen in your blood is depleted. And from what I was told when I had this question a while ago, is if you stay within your target heart rate you wont burn any more muscle than doing cardio 10 hours before or after.

Hope that helps and if you want stop by and make a post in the new forums in my sig, some others may have opinions that can help too.

10-15 minutes always before to warm up, get the blood flowing, lets you push your weight...

Never do a cardio session after a workout, do them on days where you're not working out

best way:
day1: cardio, biceps, triceps, arms, stomach, stretch
day2: cardio, chest, back, stomach, stretch
day3: cardio, stomach, legs, stretch
day4: rest, stretch
then repeat

do all your workouts pyramid style, let all the muscles burn

pretty basic, you can move different execises to different days if you want, they usually go well like this, try and see how your body reacts to it... if you want a full schedule and list let me know, its been a while, i may have to check my old books and see exact stuff i used to do

Depends on the type of cardio your doing I think. If your doing easy cardio like walking/slow jogging then its not really going to do anything to hurt you. I think this debate is more of just a warm up thing and it probally won't hurt your workout in my opinion. That being said, alot of people don't even warm up before lifting, me included, so its all your preference. I personally do HIT (high intensity training) for my cardio and since its pretty strenuous I focus on cardio during the off days. Doing cardio on your off weight training days also gives you something to do on those days and besides watching Arnold movies

Lots of good opinions on this though..might want to check on some of the bigger boards like Steroidology or Elitefitness.

Do 5 minutes before to warm up. Do some for one hour after for cool down.

in my opinion you should keep your cardio training on seperate days from your weight training...

if you want to be hardcore about it and really make progress, train 6 days a week with 4 days of weight training and 2 day devoted solely to cardio... also perform your weight training at high intensity, stay around the 12 to 8 rep range with around 4 sets by 4 exercises per muscle group.. also cut down rest inbetween sets to around 90 seconds.

do that with a good diet and you're ready to go.

Your anabolic window is usually only about 30-40 minutes during your workouts. Doing cardio directly before or after is typically counterproductive according to MAX-OT principles.

They suggest 8 hours before or after weight training every day.

I asked my personal trainer when starting, and he strongly advised after the workout. I'd have to agree as well, the first few times I did it before the workout and felt like total shit when I went out there to lift some weights. Only exception is when you are doing a leg workout, do a small bit of running prior to starting in order to get the blood flowing to the legs.

Both are bad. Cliff notes version is: Doing cardio before workouts tires your body and you can't lift as much, therefore your gains aren't as great. Doing cardio after workouts slows down the rebuild of your muscle.

Do cardio on non-lifting days or 6-8 hours apart.

Do your cardio before your workout and do cardio also before you do Abs. If you want to go all out do before and after a cool down type of cardio exercise. Watch that diet however, all the amount of cardio will not help you if you eat like shit. I use to personal train for 3 years, feel free to pick my brain

i do 10 minutes of warm up cardio then work out then after i do the real cardio. i dont do it before because i want to use most of my energy for lifting and dont want to tire out from cardio.

This is exactly what I was gonna type. Thanks for saving me the keystrokes.

I usually do 15 laps in the pool after a workout. I find that to be the best cardio for me.

cardio is best in the morning, right after you get up and before you eat ANYTHING.

how long depends on your goals, but I like to do at least 45 minutes to an hour ..when I do it.

But if your doing cardio, then you do not want to lift heavy, go for more reps using lighter weights. trying to build size while doing cardio is defeating the purpose of lifting heavy.

actually what you described is not "easy cardio"
its what bodybuilders do to not burn as much muscle while burning fat.

walking at a moderate pace for an hour, first thing in the morning, before breakfast is the best way to burn fat and save muscle.

My techniques come from professional bodybuilders - ones that have been in the MS Olympia .. 7 times ...

BTW this is not from a book either, she was my trainer when I was getting ready for the orange county muscle classic.
look at the bottom right picture (yes this is me)

Do it after the weight lifting.
You'll just give in and drop a dumbell on your chest if you do it before.
