Just find out what you like to eat, that is fairly healthy, and eat it. It's easy to eat and gain when you actually like the food.

Not personally sure what Xloggers issues are or reasons for wanting to gain weight. I just know personally that just eating more does not really cut it.

I personally need a very high calorie intake and not just empty calories either but healthy ones so to speak. Basicly I can not just eat 4 big macs and call it a day despite taking in 10k of calories or whatever they are combined.

The required intake combined with needing high levels of iron and such and the simple fact of eating X amount of calories of healthy food is just so damn hard. It translates into a boatload of food and meals per day.

Now what if your body consumes say 5k a day in caloric intake. That is stuff that is just burnt up in daily usage. How does one break over that and put on muscle weight when none is going to either fat nor muscle production.

You will only lose weight if you work out without eating. Especially if you are an ectomorph.

You have to supplement your diet with drinks. I suggest Muscle Milk. The cookies and creme flavor is one of the most delicious drinks you will ever taste. It's not like a protein drink at all. Trust me.

I bulked up a little by drinking mad amounts of Weight Gainer and weight training. Very little cardio. The weight gainer shakes are like 1800 calories per shake. I was downing 3 of those a day, eating 3 good sized meals, plus workouts.

Hmmm...I heard something about gaining weight if you eat in the evening/night time. I thought it was because by that time, your bodies metabolism slows down, unable to burn off all the calories that you take in. Or something of that nature. If anyone knows the specifics...
But that may work. Not sure why you're looking to gain, so it's a little harder to give advice. lol

About 2 months I started eating

filet mignon
barbacue sirloin burgers with cheddar chesse
pork chops
steak fries
almost a 12 pack of dr. pepper a day
lots of candy and cakes and work on the computer about 12 hours a day.

I gained about 18 pounds so far

its ALWAYS about diet and training. calories, type of calories (ratios of macronutrients) and training. there are no simple answers to this and definately no "one size fits all" answer as its mostly an issue of genetics.

anyone with these concerns should be on a bodybuilding forum asking these questions of professionals, not asking fat, turd webmasters who are malnurished, pasty white and are hiding in their parents basement.

Ok this is not about body building really for me. Mine is purely medical in nature and yes I have spoken with numerous dietitians and doctors.

Best thing so far has been dietary shakes with every meal and snack. Problem is they taste like ass and this pretty much keeps my weight basically stable. My body sucks in nutrients like there is no tomorrow, yet at the same time such additives like creatine and the like fuck my shit up. To much of the GNC (for lack of better term) stuff has so many other additives and shit in them that has little to no medical testing or at least warnings.

I can eat out or have it delivered (to really save on calories burned) for every meal. Does not do much at all aside from cost you money.

I can cook the same way as most places, aint nothing special. Extra large portions, lots of butter, blah blah.

this isn't anything new... this isn't anything unusual. just as there are plenty of people (i am one of them) that has to be extremely careful about what they eat, there are many who have abnormally high metabolisms. hardgainer.com used to be a site dedicated to exactly this with a lot of good info. i am sure there are others online and you can find them with a quick search. i see now its a site for a book. go to bodybuilding forums... musclemag, bodybuilding.com, steroid.com, etc and you will see these same questions and issues coming up again and again. if you are not willing to use steroids (which can be used safely) you will benefit. regardless, its still about diet and training... and most importantly, limiting your cardio and physical activity. you CAN eat enough. you just have to understand what you are eating and plan your meals and you need some advice on diet. you can't tell us that you cant eat enough but Ronnie Coleman can. i have a friend that is 350 pounds and 6'4" at about 10% bodyfat. he can eat enough.

if you are critical of supplments without understanding them, what works, what doesn't, whats commonly used, what isn't and why... then you are placing yourself at a greater disadvantage... its like saying you want to code HTML by hand because some editor programs produce code that is not clean. its up to you to learn and educate yourself and take advantage of the best tools that are out there. there is plenty of conversation about these things on bodybuilding forums.

I'm in the same boat.. can't gain weight for the life of me.. I've been trying to eat continuously through the day whenever I think about it and do some minor exercise so it stays as muscle and not fat. So far not much gained, but a bit of muscle. My metabolism just burns through food so damn quick. :P
