It's your own mistake for NOT updating/switching DNS servers prior to your service going offline. You're the idiot who doesnt know how to properly do a server switch and fucked it up.. You should have been running the site on BOTH MACHINES while you updated the DNS servers so that regargless of which IP they went to they would have gotten the right site. Once the world sees the new DNS changes is when you can get rid of the old machine. ALL THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE YOUR SERVICE WITH WEBAIR WAS FINISHED. |

"So you think its right they forward the domain to a porn site (whether on purpose or by accident)..." The above statement is complete bullshit. Your service agreement withh webair was obviously over and like any other company would do they give your IPS to a NEW CUSTOMER. "Whether I should've changed my DNS is irrelevant." That made the difference between your site going to where it should be going and to where it was going. ONCE AGAIN, IT IS NOT WEBAIR'S FAULT YOU LEFT YOUR DOMAIN POINTING TO AN IP ADDRESS YOU HAD NO CONTROL OVER ANYMORE. "Its all about why there was a porn site assigned to www.fuji-ya.nl ." There was a porn site there because someone else took the IP space which was assigned to you but since you're not a customer anymore it isnt yours...Do you really expect they to pay for resources to sit idle because you're stupid? Stick to managing your PDA and leave the servers to the pro |

In 'noob' terms which you probably wont understand because you are so fucking stupid here goes.. YOU DIDNT CHANGE THE DNS If you dont change the DNS the old host will assign the old IP to a new client its standard practice for just about every host there is. The first thing yuo do when you change hosts is to change your own fucking DNS. Regards, Lee |

Platinum... one last time...
People have been telling you for the past 50 posts... Your domain was pointing to an IP. You left their business... but were unable to perform the simple tasks of making sure all is pointing ok to your new server. My guess is you problably wanted to save a few bucks... Now Webair sign up a new customer. They give that now vacant IP to the new customer. Customer being the smart porn hustler sees that a bunch of clowns are still looking for some old site that use to point to this IP. Porn dude forwards the suckers into some fucking granny site. Im not too sure on how this will convert for him... but its legal. In no way should Webair even waist a second trying to respond to this bullshit. |

one more thing, you can tell your client
its not webairs fault, its your fucken irresponsiblility before the client, you owe an apology to webair for such BS thread and to the client that his site was pointing to a porn site becasue you didnt take no action in switching the domain in time.

The domain was pointed to NS.WEBAIR.COM NS2.WEBAIR.COM, (just like www.bluehentai.com which also shows the same porn site) and NOT to 69.42.75.204 which was my server (creation.webair.com)

By not changing your DNS settings, you forwarded the traffic to the porn site. Let's see if I can make this simple. You have your DNS set up across the net so that when someone types in your domain name, a certain ip is returned. You got off of webair, but did not change your dns settings. Meanwhile Webair apparently reassigned the ip you had to someone else, who used it for a porn site. Because you did not change your DNS settings, when someone typed in your domain name all the dns servers on the net would have returned the IP that was now reassigned and which now pointed at a porn site. Is that simple enough to understand. IMHO, you now owe WebAir an apology.

you dont understand the whole process how domains and name servers works.
heres a rundown in simple words lets say u want to host a domain at webair, you got your server there 69.42.75.204 (creation.webair.com) you have to make a change in your domain registrar to point to webair's name servers NS ans NS2 which will point the domain to 69.42.75.204 if creation.webair.com is your name server you had to login to domain account and point DNS there to your creation.webair.com i assume webair doesnt have full control over the domain, therefore webair cannot be held liable for where your domain phisically points to at any given time.

surely if he's pointing to NS.WEBAIR.COM & NS2.WEBAIR.COM he's using webairs dns and the entrys for his domain should have been removed when he closed his account, before the ip was given to someone else.

If your host was using Named Virtual Hosts, which I bet they are, this would most definately happen if you didn't change the nameservers. See what happens is, a host puts a couple hundred smaller clients on the same server. All with the SAME IP ADDRESS (yes, that means the porn site has the same IP address as the restraunt). As long as there is a virt host entry in your apache configs, you're good to go. However, if the domain is removed, and your name servers still point to the old IP address, the server defaults to the site at the top of the list. Meaning, if a pornsite was at the top, thats the one that would come up. the only way (out side of CHANGING YOUR FUCKING NAME SERVERS) to prevent this, would be for a) your host to assign different IP's to every single domain on the server (which is fucking stupid) or b.) to reassign the IPs once a domain has been moved (AGAIN, FUCKING STUPID). The easiest and best way to avoid this is TO CHANGE THE FUCKING NAME SERVERS!!! Either way, there will be some lag while the DNS updates world wide......

BUT, the various dns servers across the net would still have had that entry cached. Because no other dns records were available for the domain, in all likelihood the servers would have returned the cached ip for his domain.

It takes a lot fucking longer than 3 or 4 hours for dns changes to propogate. Try minimum of 3 or 4 days and even then if a dns server somewhere along the way is screwing up, it could return the old info for months.

BUT why the fuck do you want to keep dns pointing to your old host after you moved your shit out of there? and then make yourself look like a complete idiot? and now he complains that his client sees porn on own domain when in reality there should be nothing at all because otherwise they would have changed the dns in time.

you terminated webair, went to look for another host meanwhile site is going to be down (like who cares, you probably had ur reasons) then setup up everything on the new host and only then switch the dns? in case if i had to expirinece downtime of my sites i would have done everything possible to lessen that time and while waiting on the server to be setup change the dns, this btw would have cost you less of downtime becasue of propagating time. now your downtime is going to be longer. and since now you have a free time waiting on the server to be build you decided come to bash old host becasue theres nothing else to do about own mistakes and porn still comes out. you're right and webair should be sorry for not cleaning their ns entry's in time or ever. ![]()

Hmm.. don't know where to start here because I think you have a basic misunderstanding of how some things work. You said earlier that you had the domain dns pointing to webairs nameservers NOT to your server at 69.42.75.204. BUT webairs nameservers point to that ip for the domain and if you go to that ip directly, you will get the porn site you are talking about. It looks (from what I can see) like you have changed the nameservers in your domain record to point to the nameservers at interip.nl but you have the entry still pointing to the same ip (69.42.75.204) which eans that the domain will continue to go to the porn site. You need to edit the entry so they are pointing at a different ip if you want the porn site to go away when folks look for your friends site. from my whois tools: www.fuji-ya.nlLOOKUP ;Question:;resp bb11 opcode:00 aa:0 tc:0 rd:1 ra:0 rcode:0 QD:1 AN:0 NS:2 AR:2 ;NS: fuji-ya.nl. 1D NS dns2.interip.nl. 1D NS dns1.interip.nl. ;Additional: dns1.interip.nl. 1D A 81.4.76.10 ; rtt:144 dns2.interip.nl. 1D A 81.4.76.20 ; rtt:143 ;NOERROR NORECURSE 4 answers. ;Question:;resp b6c4 opcode:00 aa:1 tc:0 rd:1 ra:0 rcode:0 QD:1 AN:1 NS:3 AR:3 ;Answer: www.fuji-ya.nl. 5M A 69.42.75.204 ; rtt:78(netlen:24) ;NS: fuji-ya.nl. 5M NS dns1.interip.nl. 5M NS dns2.interip.nl. 5M NS dns3.interip.net. ;Additional: dns1.interip.nl. 5M A 81.4.76.10 ;NOT trusted (yet); rtt:144 dns2.interip.nl. 5M A 81.4.76.20 ;NOT trusted (yet); rtt:144 dns3.interip.net. 5M A 195.128.185.96 ;NOT trusted (yet); rtt:162(netlen:20) ;NOERROR AUTH NORECURSE 7 answers. ******************************************** From what I can see, the nameservers at interip are STILL returning the ip you do not want them to go to.

You do know that there is a limited number of IP addresses available in the current IPv4 right? You also know that hosts have to have good reasons for requesting more IP's right? As far as SE's blocking based on IP address do you have any proof that can back this up?? As far as I know, the only real concern is being RBL'd for spam by IP address. SE's don't blacklist by IP based on the fact that Virtual Hosts exist. They'd block half the fucking world. A lot of times, hosts will assign a hand full of IP's to a server. You get whatever is on the server. I can understand a DEDICATED customer getting a new IP address, but not a virtual hosting customer. We don't know what kind of setup this guy had with Webaire. However, I'm willing to bet, webaire did everything correctly on their side. They're too big a host not to have. They know the consequences. Besides, even if Webaire removes the DNS information... IE Cashes it. Unless you do a reload and clear your cache, IE will send you to the last known location. Plus as several people have said, it can take up to 72 hours for DNS to propagate. That's a week. You want to leave a host? Make sure your new host is up and ready to go. Other wise you do so at your own risk. When you cancel an account, you can specify when you want it done. That way you can make sure you have a backup site. In this case, I would say the original poster is at fault and shouldn't be complaining to anyone. Not to mention the fact that this didn't belong on the board in the first place but in a work ticket, email or phone call to Webaire. He handled this whole thing piss poor..... Its ignorant webmasters who cause problems for the rest of us.
