are you getting enough protein?

I came across this article today on protien. I work out and lift weights and intake alot of protein and have seen it work its magic on my body and now I find out just really how good it is overall for you.

Sorry if this is not the place to post this but I thought I should share it .

Also I have a sweet protein shake recipe that I will share if anyone wants it.

Here is the article

The Inside Story on Good Looks -- How Protein Works
In my efforts to find answers to why we age, I reasoned that if aging and aging skin are characterized by the breakdown of our cells, the antidote to aging might be cellular repair. Protein is essential to cellular repair. The building blocks of our cells are composed of amino acids. As protein is digested, it breaks down into amino acids that are then used by the cells to repair themselves. Without adequate protein, our bodies enter into an accelerated aging mode. Our muscles, organs, bones, cartilage, skin and the antibodies that guard us from disease are all made of protein. Even the enzymes that facilitate all-important chemical reactions in our body -- from digestion to building cells -- are made of protein. This simple fact of life can change the way you look beginning with your next meal. If your cells do not have complete availability of all the essential amino acids, cellular repair will not only be incomplete but also will be much slower than it should be.

In my practice, I have often seen chronic, low-grade, long-term protein starvation lead to a loss of face and body skin tone. In many of my female patients, their breasts start to sag and show early signs of stretch marks. Within a matter of weeks of starting a diet rich in high-quality protein (especially that found in fish like salmon), the skin starts to firm up on the face and body, and there is a visible lifting and improvement in skin tone and texture.

Research indicates that women need at least 65 grams of protein daily. Adequate intake for men ranges from 75 to 80 grams. The final figure depends on height, weight, and level of physical activity. This protein requirement is easily met with just 10 to 14 ounces of high-quality protein each day. Notice I specified high-quality protein.

post here to let know if you want the shake recipe

no cum recipe here.. hehe

Here is what I put into my protein shakes

1) a good high quality protein powder- 1 scoop ( I use vanilla )
2) pulp free orange juice ( about 3 cups pending on how much you want )
3) 1 small handfull of frozen or fresh strawberries
4) 1 small handfull of frozen or fresh blueberries
5) one cup of vanilla or strawberry yogurt
6) a few ice cubes if your blender is made to chop up ice

Blend all these yummy things together and you got a full protein meal shake to have on its own or have a shake with a grilled piece of chicken or fish for dinner.

drinking these and working out will forsure help you lose weight and gain muscle. I know this because I have lost 30 pounds.

Blending all those things will create a nice creamy shake and not a chalky one

I don't remeber the exact name of my protein I have at home
I buy mine from my gym. Most high quality protein powder can be bought at gnc or any supplement store. Just make sure that the powder you use is low in carbs and has at least 30 or more grams of protein per scoop. Should also cost you about $45 to $50 per container. Hope this helps

The name of your brand is key, they all taste different and some mix better than others.

I use of Designer Protein (chocolate).
I just drop a scoop in with a banana and a cup of milk.
Blend for 5 seconds, down my gullet in 3.

I like it with cantelope too.

You can get Designer for under $25 (2lb, ~ 30 scoops) at various websites.

They've got a new product that releases the protein over time, supposedly huge improvements in uptake & muscle growth/retention.

Alisa you have to remember your protein needs also depend on what type of physcial activity you do the more you break your muscles down the more you need to repair the tissue

This is my drink but I don't use orange juice, I use soy milk. Taste like a milk shake.

Bannana's are good due to the potasium and how it assists with protien. I think you always should add some to get maxium results.

As for Soy Milk, WTF is it in the dairy section? It isnt milk.

if you want to get some muscles, there is a simple rule:

2g per kg weight.

80kg -> 160g a day.

It's NOT in the dairy section! It's NOT dairy! It's in the baking or juice section. People that can't drink milk drink it!!!! It's high in protein and adds more protein to your shake.

Another thing you have to consider is that there are different types of protein powders. If you're trying to loose weight/fat, you want one with low carbs and calories. If you're trying to bulk up and build muscle, you need one with high protein and calories, but without all the sugar added. Almost all of them have different amounts of protein, carbs, calories, sugar, and fat per serving.

I like Designer Protein, 100% Whey, and EAS the best. My exhusband liked Nitro-Tech too, but we hardly ever bought it because the price was so much higher and it wasn't any better. Another thing I've noticed is that I will like vanilla from one, choc from another, and strawberry from a third one. 100% Whey has a cookies and creme that's really good, and my eh liked mint chocolate chip but I thought it was nasty. There are soy and egg powders too, but I've never fooled with them.

It often is in the dairy section, yes it should be in the juice section and it should be labled bean juice.

I have also spoken to many who cant drink milk (silly to me, only in this country I swear) and they will not drink that stuff.
