You have to have experience in the US Military understands this,

If you are married or have a child, or live off base then you get paid what they called Basic Allowance For Subsistence (BAS)
It basically extra pay to buy your own food.

Everyone else will have to eat at the mess hall
(like a school cafeteria)

So if your in a situation where you get BAS then you'd be charged for any meals you eat. The military has been doing this for years.
Lot of situations like this that is kinda of fucked up because of the policy

and can tell you for sure that the military was not to happy with him.

If you look back there were so many cuts in the military. Lots of bases were closed down. The military was nearly cut in half.

You are correct on both statements...but the cuts actually began with President Bush Sr. It was my feeling at the time that the cuts in personell were to great...and this is now proving to be true.

I was just pointing out how the regs are. They get paid on the check for food / housing, so if they eat on base, hospital, etc they have to pay.

Its very scary that people honestly believe this, that individuals should be named as responsible parties for USA government foreign policy.

Money is what drives American policy. This aint about freeing some third world from a dictator, its about access and control of money. If US soldiers getting charged is unacceptable, blame should be placed on BOTH parties. The American involvement in Iraq is so transparent its disgusting. Multinational corporations making serious money with the USA military as their goons and the USA taxpayers as their bankroll. Along the way if there is some fundamental unfairness I think its safe to say that Republicans and Democrats both should belly up to the table and accept responsibility.

Military hospitals have been charging officers for their food since 1958. Enlisted members have had to pay the tab since 1981.
