What daily vitamins/supplements do you take ?
I take a stack of supplements every day, I was just wondering what you all take, to find out if there's anything that's supposed to be good for ya.
Here's what I take -GNC Mega Man Vitamins -Fish Oil (with omega 3 fatty acid) -Ginko Biloba -Ginsing -Cranberry Talk about a pile of pills, he he he. They seem to work though, I seem to have more pep than I used to have. What do you think about the supplement hype ? [This message has been edited by Slick (edited 11-07-2001).] |

Hey Slick!
If you're eating well, what you're taking is perfect...(I might lose the Cran. and take some Saw Palmetto (for your "man-parts") instead ... If you want to add muscle and are working out hard, remember to go heavy on your protein...(egg whites and lean chicken breasts are good or) and add an amino acid supplement or ... Slick,
I am only 24 and have severe kidney stones. I don't remember where I read it but Cranberry is not great for stones. It is good for infections in the kidney but not to help stones. One thing that works well for some is to brew a tea from Parsley. It isused in ayurvedic medicine (India) Plenty of H2O and stay away from things that dry you out. Also heard beats are bad cause of some thing they have in them. Vitamin C a few grams per day Vit E Vit B5 for clean skin Flax oil Fish oil ( bad breath however) Juicer add protein powder Spankstrocko |

spankstrocko, those kidney stones are a bitch, aren't they ? I didn't even have that big of them, but it brought me to tears, that's the worst pain imaginable.
As far as the Cranberry goes. I always heard people say that Cranberrys are supposed to help prevent you from having stones. They say to drink cranberry juice or take the pills. Maybe I was just misinformed on that one. Thanks for the info ! I do drink a lot of water, so that helps keep me clean. I drink bottled water more than pop or anything else. Ha ha ha, yeah, that fish oil can be nasty when you burp it up, uggghhh !! I was buying the deoderized stuff from GNC, but decided to just try the regular stuff from Wal-Mart to save me some big money. Maybe I'll drop the Cranberry and switch to the Saw Palmetto to see what that does for me. |

Hey, glad I could help, Spankstrocko is totally right on the cran front....its not much help for stones.
You'll want to follow a low protein, high fiber diet with lots of vege and fruit and YES...water, water, water, (I drink at least a gallon a day) to flush thru all those toxins and avoid future stones. Avoid salt and processed foods, cut the booze totally and if you smoke...stop!!! (All these things dehydrate your body...) Saw palmetto keeps your prostate and reproductives healthy (keeps the big "C" away) Take care, *hugs* Vick ------------------ |

My daily supplement regimen follows that of Elvis Mansion almost to a tee.
slick, drinking extra cranberry juice daily, and indeed drinking a few extra glasses of water daily will lower the risk of kidney stones considerably, so no you weren't misinformed there. That's not to say you'll never get another one, but it will help reduce the risk. I pray I never pass a stone, I've assisted a few patients over the years with that, and it's some of the most frightening pain imagineable. <font face="Verdana">___________ CD * <a href="http://www.sunsetbeachbabes.com/" TARGET="_blank"><font color="#FFFFDD"> Sunset Beach Party</font></a> Centerfolds ~ Amateurs ~ Teens, <a href="http://www.sunsetbeachbabes.com/webmasters.html" TARGET="_blank">new trades</a> welcome. * <a href="http://clickthrutraffic.com/scripts/signup.php?referer=cdsmith" TARGET="_blank"><font color="#FFDDFF"> Click-thrutraffic.com</font></a> 5 cents up to 20 cents per click! * <a href="http://www.erasercash.com/wm.html?ID=1380291" TARGET="_blank"><font face="Verdana" color="#FFCCCC">ERASERCASH!</font></a> Earn $35 per sale + webmaster referrals 4 LEVELS DEEP</font> |

Ok, one more question that I forgot to ask before.
With supplements that say "Take 1 tablet 3 times a day", do you follow that rule or do you just take 3 at once ??? I know that I have a tough enough time remembering to take mine once a day, but to take some with every meal, that'd be near impossible, ha ha ha. |

Hey Slick...gotta spread those pills out to 3x a day. Your body can only absorb and benefit from a certain amount of supplement at one time so (unless they're "timed release") 3 at once will just flood your system (OD) and/or go right thru you and be wasted.
If you get used to taking supps.each time you eat, it'll become automatic before you know it! Good Luck! Vick. ICQ# 133006714 ------------------ |

I highly recommend Chlorella. It is considered a "super food" but if I could only take 1 supplement a day that would be the one. You can read about it here: http://www.sunchlorellausa.com/

Hmm...I'm not a big fan of gummy stuff. But the name is great, especially if you stretch the "e" sound as say it in a real low register. Sweeedeesh Feesh...It sounds groovy.

Hey Vicki, you're pretty sharp when it comes to this stuff. I should hire you as my Dietician, how much do you charge ?? he he.
I'm trying to take separate doses on what I got now to help out. I was just doubling up some of them, he he he. The Saw seems to be working out pretty good for me I'll have to see what the results are after taking it for a few weeks. |
