Any Vegetarians In The House?

I've been experimenting with vegetarian diets for the past several years.

I can attest that when I'm on a vegan diet I feel better, think more clearly, have more energy and grow muscle faster.

All good points!

I had no idea the vast number of vegan celebrities until today. Quite a surprise!

It's tough to stick with a total vegan diet as you have to make your own meals.

Anyone else try vegetarian diets?

I've been 90% vegetarian for the last year. My wife is 100% and a hell of a cook, so it's been easy to convert over.

I can confirm that I've felt the best I've ever felt since I began eating this way.

I have to agree with you there! Skin cleared up fast too. Took like a week and kept gettin' better. Too much energy though. I get insomnia. I will stay awake for like two days and then have to fight to get to sleep. Reflexes fast as fuck too. It's like being wired up without the mental problems.

Kosher, but In Spain that basically means vegetarian. Havent eaten meat in about four months and hardly ever get to have it. So yeah, I'm definately veggie-ing out the scene and with no complaints. There's alot of cool shit you can eat that you wouldn't even think of unless you cut meat out of your diet. Vegan is pretty hardcore - good for you

Lebron, aren't you a model or actor or something? Your name rings a bell. I believe I read an article where you mentioned something about diet and exercise.

Kosher is the best way. That's one thing I miss about New York now that I've been living in Los Angeles and that's the Kosher delis and diners.

All our food products should meet those standards. Freakin meat in this country is so full of additives and hormones it can fuck you up.

I substituted sodas with Gator Ade. I'll add soda water to the Gator Ade too. Wish they had Gatorade slurpees.

Stay off them artificial sweetners! That fucking aspartame is dangerous shit.

the only three things, organic, that i would buy today is the ice cream, milk and chips. other than that, blahhh. lol

How do you do it? How are the life changes since you started?

One thing that is shocking me is I'm not hearing anything about diabetic type 2 vegetarians.

Oh, that aspartame shit is legal for only ONE reason: Donald Rumsfeld. Back in the 80's President Reagan wouldn't allow the legalization of aspartame. Rumsfeld worked things around so it would be legalized. Lots of news stories about that debacle. Now people are claiming all sorts of ailments from it.

The only new sweetener is natural called Stevia. I'll be checking more about that.

Fragrance? ja, it's dangerous they say. I need to read more.

Whatever ails ya, good ol' garlic is usually the cure.

People evolved to being people by eating everything.
Excluding meat from your diet can be dangerous and can cause various deseases.

Exclude hamburgers, sausages, hotdogs, but don't exclude properly cooked beef/lamb or wild animals meat.

Vegetarian food includes too much fiber. Human methabolism needs fiber only for better digestion, that's why it's best to eat Meat + Vegetables (salads).

But eating only vegetables can cause calcification of your arteries, plus the fact that this diet excludes very important amino acids.

It's good to make breaks from eating meat, but don't exclude it.

Very good advice. One has to make one's own decisions under a guided program. If you can find a great butcher who cuts and prepares clean meats then it's okay.

yep. vegan for over 11 years.

I firmly believe that everyone should eat what they want, though. This diet is not for everyone.

15.5 years now.
I started experimenting when I was drafted into the army and found out I was able to go without meat.
Never had any meat or fish since.
My body can not even deal with it anymore. If I eat a tiny piece of animal by accident for example (friends dinners thinking a small piece is ok cause I wont be able to see it and will never know) I throw up and get diarhia.

I have been vegetarian for 19 years now...I don't even think of it as a "diet" at this point in my life...It's just part of who i am...I can't ever see going back to being a meat eater...I learned how to be a pretty good cook and try to watch what i eat to make sure im getting the proper amounts of things that i need to be healthy...

If you are going to eat some meats i really do think fish is the way to go health wise...I mean just look at the Japanese...They eat more of what Americans need to be eating...fish, vegetables, and fresh fruits...

On a side note...I don't have any problem with people who do eat meat until they have something smartass to say about what is on my plate...Then it's not about "diet" it's about attitude and respect...

True. But you can get protein from plants. Rice is an example. To add clean protein that is highly absorbable to my diet I use rice protein powder. That shit is powerful!

It makes your hair and nails grow three times as fast. Muscle too. I mean quality muscle without the hormones and shit they put in the processed meats.

Egg yolks are the standard for protein though but rice protein is no fucking joke.

The amino acids you need can be found using combinations of oils and vegetables.

Here in California I have to have ten times as much anti-oxidants than normal. Blueberries are good for that. I don't get as agressive on a vegan diet and that's good cause when I get a rage on it ain't pretty at my size.

It's the strength that gets me on a vegan diet. I got so strong I had to stop. Spent the past 6 or more weeks in the gym pumping iron. Again I got so strong and big I would scare myself in the mirror. Took 2 weeks off to check for trauma and am back in the gym again. The mental clarity on a vegan diet is astounding.

I "was" vegetarian for 4 years. not VEGAN, i like cheese ;)

If you are familiar with the term "waking up on the wrong side of the bed", when i switched to vegetarian it seemed every day i woke up on the right side of the bed, i felt great, woke up early, and was generally more of a nice guy ;).

I recently switched back to eating meat, due to some stress and I felt the whole vege' trend was getting out of hand.

that being said, I believe if you maintain a healthy diet in general you will be rewarded with the benefits of healthy lifestyle.

Fresh Fish, Non-Processed Meat, and a well rounded balance of a variety of vegetables have been treating me right for some time now.

I find most people have trouble with vegetarianism because it takes to much work. (1) you do have to cook for yourself. (2) Sometimes Finding a diverse selection of vegetables and carb resources is difficult (3) your ego.

Excellent advice!

I have to agree with the 'right side of the bed' thing. I've always been able to bounce out of bed ready for action. Then I'd read or listen to the news and get all bent out of shape. All day today I stayed off meat and have clarity and energy.

Unless it's Kosher I'm not eating beef again. You can feel the difference. Fish and maybe fresh poultry are on the diet as I don't feel woozy after eating them.

Vegetarian here. Not vegan, though.

No no no. I had been bodybuilding for many years and stayed away from supplements. Then a few years ago I was listening to Dr. Udo Erasmus the expert on oils and lipids and he mentioned rice protein. They didn't make it for human consumption here in the U.S. so I badgered the companies to make it for us. Lo and behold a few months later they started to. MLO and Nutribiotic make the best. One tablespoon was more than a dozen eggs. Like 15 grams of protein. Clean and easily digestible. Because I weigh 240lbs I have to have 240 grams of protein a day maximum when pumping major iron. For the average person they'd use far less perhaps 30 grams. Check with your doctor on that.

I start off with Superfood a dry powdered vegetable mix. One helping is like having 5 salads or something. A combination of that shit mixed in a smoothie and you won't get hungry for like 12 hours. But that's my mixture for my height and weight. You have to gauge it for your own physique and routine.

I'm at a point where that mixture once a day and I only eat a large meal maybe once or twice a week. Little snacks keep me going and I don't eat 4 hours before going to bed.

I get huge and strong off that alone! Easy on the intestines too big time.

I would try it becaues I do think I could do it. The problem comes when you have to cook for somebody else that won't go near any vegetable that still looks like a vegetable. Peas, raw carrots and potatoes. Any other vegetbales I have to sneak into things because I generally like vegetables more than meat.
