Like Juicy I am looking for sleeping tips from other insomniacs

Took 3 12.5mg ambien CR, .75mg xanax, drinking hot cocoa made with milk and eating chicken soup w/ ramen noodles.

I took a few Simply Sleep(Tylenol PM w/out the tylenol) as well. Nothing is working.
s
I really don't want a reply like "just close your eyes!" It doesn't work like that. I can't shut off my head and i've been like this my whole life.

Someone's gotta know something I don't.

LOL could be that the people up at this hour choose to be working instead of wasting time sleeping with their secret sleep methods.

Insomniac Rule #1 dont take drugs to fall asleep
since youve been like that your whole life. Your going to have to adjust your daily routine to have a schedule and reset your body clock.

· Engage in a relaxing, non-alerting activity at bedtime such as reading or listening to music. For some people, soaking in a warm bath or hot tub can be helpful. Avoid activities that are mentally or physically stimulating.

· Do not eat or drink too much before bedtime. Alcohol is not a sleep aid; don't use it to try to help you sleep.

Only get into bed when you're tired. If you don't fall asleep within 15 minutes, get out of bed, go to another room and engage in a relaxing activity such as reading. Return to your bed when you're sleepy.

I have always had that problem of turning off my mind at the end of the day and getting to sleep. I'd always be lying in bed thinking about what I did or didn't finish that day, what I had to do the next day, yada yada etc.

I got back into the habit of not drinking anything with sugar after 8pm and reading a book before going to sleep rather than zoning out in front of the TV. Both have definately helped me get to sleep quicker and less nights with poor or no sleep.

Uno do you do much exercise ? I've had a sleeping problem for many years and I found that the cause was a lack of exercise, I attribute it to the fact that as webmasters we do not get much exercise because we spend most of our days infront of our computers.

I think our minds are still fully active because we are not physically tired due to lack of exercise, also i stopped eating food after my dinner, no snacks etc

Anyway that really helped me have a good nights sleep because I physically felt tired

I think the drug combos you're taking are working against each other, which can happen.

I am also an insomniac and I get very cranky if I don't get enough sleep.

The thing with most sleeping pills, is you kind of have to take the drug at a time when you are just about ready to go to sleep. Ambien, especially, is one of those types of meds....

Try to stop working at least an hour before and watch something mindless on television..nothing with lots of action or anything that makes you think too much. If you've been out that night, give yourself an hour of downtime...and that means doing nothing that will overload your senses....

Excercise is truly a plus, even twenty minutes of a nice brisk walk during the day....but not at night, as it can have the opposite effect you desire.

I do take sleeping pills because meditation simply does not work to turn off my thinking processes...but, I make sure there is an hour between social life or work life and bedtime....

Good luck to you. Nothing worse than tossing and turning.

Thats a great tip. I have about 30 or 40 episodes on tape. I also started painting because of him. I think I learned in my sleep

A friend I've know all my life actually does smoke a little something. He says his body is exhausted, but his mind keeps on working, so he smokes something and he's able to sleep. It's the only time he does it and the only reason.

Im having that time too.. never ends my mind thinking of something and can't sleep. After thinking something the whole night im so drain and and awakes again after 3 to 4 hours of sleep. and cant sleep again.. i hate it when its happining to me..

im going to read healps me sometimes and playing games.. but i discover something for my routine..

I wakeup in the morning eat and drink milk and go to work or practice my photoshop skill.. while dont have work im working out in the afternoon for my body system and have a little rest and eat my dinner... After dinner take a bath and after that watch tv to relax your mind and there i feel sleepy. and go to my bed and sleep.

To make it best clean your bed everyday so you can sleep well at night. Buy soft pillows too for comfort..

as far as meds go, try seroquel, its an antipsychotic but it knocks you out cold. i had 1 100 mg pill and broke it in about 6 peices, each peice was more than enough. and if your gonna use xanax .75 mg is nothing, eat a whole 2mg bar

My tip is embrace it! I do not sleep at night and I am more productive than the average person because while they are sleeping I am getting work done using workers from both sides of the world. When life gives you lemons, stay up longer than the average person and make money!

Try valerian root. It's a mild sedative but it is also well known to cure nervousness and anxiety - two things that are probably keeping you awake when you just can't turn your mind off.

Combine ambien with zopiclone. It will work. Ambien makes you relax and can help you _fall_ asleep, but it will not keep you asleep. Zopiclone does that part. If you wake up (unlikely) you can take another dose of ambien, which passes rather quickly (5-6 hours) through your system.

Start smokin weed if you don't already, and if you do already smoke more..
I have been a partial insomniac for 20 yrs since my car accident.
Normally I only sleep 3 hr every 24, most sleep aids/drugs did nothing.
Started smoking weed and I now get 4, sometime 5 hrs sleep in 24.
Of course it does sometimes take a couple of joints to do the trick.

Not anymore, but I'm rejoining a gym this week for plenty of cardio and weight training. Even when I did a lot physically when i was younger, it didn't help... maybe now that i'm a bit older at 25 a lot of activity might help.

had this problem for years.
Nyquil worked but didn't want to take it every night, obviously.
Ambien worked for a little while but then my body got used to it.
finally found the answer.
Lunesta.
I'm finally sleeping for the full night, every night, for the first time in decades.
(take the full 3mg - the max prescription dose)

regular exercise does work. Also have you tried a sound machine? I find that I can stay up sometimes for 36 hr. stretches but I recently purchased a homedics alarmclock/sound machine and usually run the rain or ocean sounds and I'm off to la la land in no time. Another thing and it might sound fruity, but how about a sleep mask?

I tried lunesta. It only made things worse. Aside from not helping me sleep I had a horrible horrible taste in my mouth for around 28 hours. I figured it would get better and i'd get used to it, but nope. After about a week it still didn't do ANYTHING to me at all except that horrible taste.
