This is what he needs to do. Turn off the computer. Turn of the TV if that doesn't work. Do the reading and music or other relaxing activity.

And definitely stop taking the drugs that don't work. The insomniac gets impatient at this point and while doing the previous (using computer, etc.) just wants to be knocked out and forced to fall asleep.

Another good tip. If not reading, do some writing. A notebook, a journal.
