You didn't hear about that because it didn't fit your little reality of him stealing the election.

Just like this. You know why the exit polls were all fucked up? Because they were done and reported by Liberal spinmeisters who were trying to influence the election by influencing the people who didn't yet vote by thinking it was a foregone conclusion that Kerry was going to win.

But when they counted the ACTUAL VOTES, Bush kicked his ass.

It's over. It's just like Rape. It's going to happen anyway, you might as lay back and enjoy it, dummycrats.
Then we shouldn't investigate to ensure a fair election was held? I think that ought to be done every election, regardless of who won and under what circumstances they won.

Sorry, but I never went for the "confusing ballot" thing.

1. The ballots aren't that confusing. If you take a minute to study it and follow directions, there's nothing confusing about it at all. I can see being confused if you try to hurry up and rush through it, but anyone who doesn't take the time to follow directions and make sure their intention is clear in what is THE most important thing they can do that year, then their vote shouldn't be counted.

2. Anyone stupid enough to not be able to figure out the ballot doesn't deserve to have their vote counted.

3. If there's a problem in reading or understanding it, then ASK FOR HELP. There's people on hand just for that purpose; to help the elderly and disabled select the candidate they like best. If someone can't do that, then their vote doesn't deserve to be counted.

I'm interested in why Repulicans have such a problem with going back and simply checking things out. If everything was as legit as they say then there should be no problems right? Just like any investigation, sweeping up mess and checking the facts.

OOO, but wait, they seem to all have some really huge problem with this. Could it be they are afraid of getting caught and not being able to ever cheat the system again?

And for all you fucktards who claim Democrats do not want to investigate the matter because then they will get caught cheating, give me a fucking break you bunch of redneck, bible-thumping idiots, its the Democrats who are investigating this in the first place.

Republicans are more afraid of Democracy it seems than any Middle Eastern Muslim.

Go rent the documentary Unprecidented.

There is video footage showing how the elderly voters where they had the butterfly ballots were being rushed in a hurried by the polling workers. Literally being yelled at for taking longer than a minute or two to read all of the instructions and fill out their ballot books.

Very intersteing documentary, it goes far beyond anything seen on the news about the subject and have some very interesting demos on how easy it is to rig the electronic machines with a built in code that forces the vote count to go in your favor.

I've seen it, and I didn't see that in there. Further, even if that were true, they're out of line and it stands to figure that someone would have told them to get stuffed.

I've seen the documentary too, and I don't recall them rushing and yelling at the elderly...but I will say this.

I consider myself an intelligent guy. IQ 139 and I voted using a butterfly ballot in Texas and it at first glance confused me.

That was when I stopped and took my time and made sure I lined everything up.
There was no reason to set the ballot up the way they did other than to trick people.

Anyway, I specifically prepared my sister and niece this election for such a ballot until I found we were getting the electronic machines.

I know for a fact that my sister and my 18 year old niece *first time voting* would have been easily confused by such a ballot...and maybe not even realising they were confused.

Anyway...I don't know what all this holds for us...the future is not very bright for this country if this is the way things are going to be during every election..it's going to get uglier and uglier.

You can't compare a butterfly ballot to a VCR or computer. A butterfly ballot has names, arros and dots. That's it. VCRs and computers are so much more complex that we're arguing apples and oranges at best, more like apples and Buicks.

I don't think it was a good design, but they aren't THAT difficult to figure out. If one cannot take a minute to study the ballot, follow directions and look it over to make sure it is marked they way they want it marked doesn't deserve to have their vote counted. I don't want idiots and those too hurried to make sure their ballot are accurate to decide the next leader of the free world.

How can someone so brain washed be "Honestly Curious"?

Oh I get it...

Have you ever used a butterfly ballot?

It's not just arrows names and dots...it's the way they placed them that was confusing.

It wasn't like all names are on the left and the corresponding dots on the right with an arrow pointed to them.

It would be Bush on left with arrow pointing to Dot #1.
Buchanan on Right but lower with an arrow pointing to dot #2.
Then Gore on left with democratic lined up with dot #2 but name pointing to # 3.

I'm not saying it should have taken a genius to figure it out...but when voted using the butterfly ballot not everything lined up as clearly as you think it did...not in my case.

It took much longer than necessary to vote because I had to stop and make sure I was hitting the right vote..and it only got worse when it got to state ballot measures etc.

The point is, there was a reason they designed them the way they did...and it was to confuse people IMO.

I've seen many pictures of THE butterfly ballot. As I said, it's not a good design, but it's not THAT difficult to figure out either.

Here's another one.

Who cares what the level of difficulty it is for figuring out?

Why does it have to be figured out at all? It should be the easiest task to complete so they can get people in and out with the least bit fo difficulty.

And once again...you didn't have to use it...I did. It caught me off gaurd immediately. I almost hit the wrong hole but I caught it..and why? Because we were taught from the very beginning of our lives to read from left to right. To start on one page the left one before we proceed to the next.

What about those who didn't catch it, they marked the ballot thinking they marked the correct hole..not even considering there is something to "figure out?" Not thinking that voting for one man or another was going to have some degree of difficulty no matter how minor.

You are also not taking into account people with bad eyesight, or using bifocals, people like my father who is blind in one eye...old people in Florida.

This does have an effect when you're scanning and trying to line things up.

As I've conceeded that the ballot was not a good design. However, it's not THAT difficult to figure out either. Find the name you want and follow the arrow to the proper adjacent dot. It's not rocket science, it's a very simple set of directions. The directions may be counter-intuitive, but they're not that difficult to figure out either.

Whenever I see people calling people who voted for Bush, or Republicans in general, rednecks and such, I always find it laugh out loud funny. First of all, do you honestly believe that every person that voted for Bush, in all those states, in all those counties, is a redneck? I mean *really*? First I thought it was just poor use of hyperbole, but now I'm beginning to wonder. I mean if you honestly think that, I don't know how you manage to figure out how to flush the toilet after taking a dump. Ever forget to open the door before you try to walk through it?

Second reason I find it funny is that it epitomizes the self-destruct mentality that Democrats have taken on lately. The mentality that is causing them to lose popularity and elections nationwide. Here you have all these red states, all these people, all these voters that you need to "convert" (in a manner of speaking) in order to win. You have to bring them (or at least some of them over to your side). Simple as that. If things stay the way they are, you will continue to slide deeper into irrelevance. So, what do you do? How do you bring them over to your side? Reach out to them? Compromise? Talk it over? No, you call them rednecks and hillbillies, impugn their faith, mock their beliefs, and let it be known that you think they are all idiots and morons. Now that is one hell of a strategy. I'm sure they will be flocking to your camp in droves. I can just see the Democratic candidate in '08 making a speech on the campaign trail: "Now listen all you bible-thumping idiots, I'm only gonna say this once---very slowly because I know you're all ignorant inbred morons---you're voting for me in 2008!" Despite this flawed logic, I'm sure that I'll see people who support Bush labeled rednecks et al. at least once in every political thread from now on. As that asshole Dr. Phil would say, "You just don't *get* it, do you?"

If I offended you I am sorry. Your right, I should not put down rednecks and bible thumping idiots by calling them Republicans, I am sure they do not appreciate that.

Thanks for setting me straight on GFY!

The thing you Dummcrats keep forgetting regarding the ballots is that the REPUBLICANS and DEMOCRATS had to approve them prior.

Do you realize how whiney and sour grapish you sound when you complain AFTER THE EFFECT about how it COULD be confusing.

No real data, just a bunch of complaining you would expect to hear from kids that just lost a game of kickball rather than a group of adults.

Actually moron, he is 100% right. Every news agency that went back and did a recount in Florida came up with the exact same results, Gore won.

All he had to do was ask for a statewide recount.

But then you seem to like to make up your own facts and use them, so its a free country, you keep doing that.

How witty. Doesn't really change the facts though. You have actually just demonstrated what I was trying to explain. Stick your fingers in your ears, sing LA LA LA real loud, and try to ignore that over half the nation doesn't agree with you. Believe me, you need them a hell of a lot more than they need you. They're happy where they are. From all the bitching you and others do on here, I'd hazard a guess you are not. I think the really interesting thing to watch over the next few years will be just how irrelevant and obsolete the Democratic party will become before they wake up. And then will it be too late anyway?

Link?

Make sure you add in the 9000 votes Gore should have had if the voters didnt get confused and vote for Buchanan as well as any other voting discrepancies we can take care of in a biased recount calculation.

You think what I rant about on GFY has any consequence to the real world?

If that is the case it explains a lot about you.

Further, to claim the Democratic party is going to be irrelevant in a few years just shows pure stupidity. The Democratic party is still the majority party in state and local government by a long shot.

If you think a couple of bad years is going to wash out 220+ years of victory then your very mistaken.

Do your own research you lazy fucking loser.

How about I find you a link that proves George Bush is a flameing transexual in the final stages of pre-op, if its on the internet it must be true right?

OK, I'll answer the drivel in your post then. No, I don't think anything you say has any consequence in the real world (nor did I say this in my post). People barely pay any attention to you here, why would anyone care what you have to say in the real world? I did say that you refelct the warped self-destructive view of many Democrats nowadays, and that is true. Furthermore, with each post you are demonstrating exactly what I asserted in my first post: Pretend it's not happening. The Democrats are still this very powerful party, you're really in the right but the redneck, Bible thumpers are stealing the elections. It's a conspiracy! In actuality, if you look at the overall political picture in America, it's been much more than a couple of bad years for the Democrats. On this, I'm not going to argue with you...it's patently correct. Even top Democrats (that are slowly coming to their senses) have realized and are admitting it. If you choose not to, take comfort in this: you will be far from the only one. Anyhow, I'm in too good a mood to argue with chumps tonight. Have a good one and cheers to liberal fantasyland!

Still the majority party? Jesus, you are a rock. Lost the presidency, again. Lost more seats in the house and senate which the Republicans control.

Really, what is the basis of your argument that the Democratic party is the majority party? You couldn't even get your Senate Leader reelected.

The only way they "established" that Bush "won" was by "disqualifying" ballots that every OTHER state election head has said should NOT have been disqualified.

Gore won.

By this post you not only have demonstrated yet again that you have no fucking clue, but you demonstrated a serious inability to read.

Now little boy, go back and read the actual post and if you need help don't hesitate to call your mommie in from the next room to help you with the big words, like "and" and "the".

If this idiot had any ability to read at all he could have searched Google and found the thousand or so links on the subject himself.

I am guessing by his severly uninformed statements the only news he gets from from people named Limbaugh, O'Reily, and Scarborough.

Even with the disqualified ballots not counted Gore won by several thousand votes.

The ballots that were not counted however amounted to over 30,000 in Gore's favor, so you have a very good point, but don't let the conservatives talk your argument down, Gore won the actual vote count no matter how hard they tried to cheat.
