It wasn't like all names are on the left and the corresponding dots on the right with an arrow pointed to them.

It would be Bush on left with arrow pointing to Dot #1.
Buchanan on Right but lower with an arrow pointing to dot #2.
Then Gore on left with democratic lined up with dot #2 but name pointing to # 3.

I'm not saying it should have taken a genius to figure it out...but when voted using the butterfly ballot not everything lined up as clearly as you think it did...not in my case.

It took much longer than necessary to vote because I had to stop and make sure I was hitting the right vote..and it only got worse when it got to state ballot measures etc.

The point is, there was a reason they designed them the way they did...and it was to confuse people IMO.
I've seen many pictures of THE butterfly ballot. As I said, it's not a good design, but it's not THAT difficult to figure out either.
