Why does it have to be figured out at all? It should be the easiest task to complete so they can get people in and out with the least bit fo difficulty.
And once again...you didn't have to use it...I did. It caught me off gaurd immediately. I almost hit the wrong hole but I caught it..and why? Because we were taught from the very beginning of our lives to read from left to right. To start on one page the left one before we proceed to the next.
What about those who didn't catch it, they marked the ballot thinking they marked the correct hole..not even considering there is something to "figure out?" Not thinking that voting for one man or another was going to have some degree of difficulty no matter how minor.

As I've conceeded that the ballot was not a good design. However, it's not THAT difficult to figure out either. Find the name you want and follow the arrow to the proper adjacent dot. It's not rocket science, it's a very simple set of directions. The directions may be counter-intuitive, but they're not that difficult to figure out either.
