I've never been in a Walmart for reasons in this thread. I do Costco, Amazon, local food coop, local produce outlet, employee owned supermarket. However, I am guilty of going to Home Depot.

The financial system is rotten to the bones and the greed have no limits. Corporations like walmart spend alot of time planning their taxes just paying as little as possible, while you and every other normal family pay high taxes to have the government survive and as you can see they hardly do. If you don't pay your taxes, the IRS gets to you, but the corporations don't have to the are just tax planning using loopholes in the financial system and they are home free....everytime. That goes for many other corporates like HP, apple, google, ibm etc etc There's nothing good with Walmart, they and the other corporates are greedy and one part of the big failure of the financial breakdown 2008. I would not purchase anything at walmart either, but many do and many have to because of their financial situation.

Wal Mart won't make it they keep up this kind of shit. So, they can do what they want -- but they're idiots for doing it and they're only hurting themselves in the long run. My sister in law just left a producing job at a major agency in New York City after 10 years, because she's been doing all the work in her department and making the same wage for a long time. With what they spend in one day on a shoot with a celebrity for an ad she produces(and gets almost no credit), her boss could have given her a boost in salary to keep her there. She just found out they had to hire 2 people to do her job and they're already fucking shit up and costing more money to the company. This is what happens when you treat your employees like some piece of meat that makes money for you. Actually, I was in a similar position myself years ago, and left with a group of other really talented people but unappreciated people. That company is circling the drain right now. There's nothing wrong with making billions -- but don't be evil, or shit will catch up with you.

I was trying to say something to the affect of, what about the Million or Billions. IDK how much tax payers have already spent getting this going.. I agree with you.. It is a tax on some, giving to others. I just don't think it is giving as much as people thought. Some states if they didn't take the expansion, the super Poor do NOT get free medical any more than they did before this. Thus it is only for people who want insurance, and can now get it a few to several hundred dollars cheaper a month. While others are paying for some of it... |

On Walmart -- Walmart is part of the consolidation trend in the USA and the consolidators like Walmart (or Tesco for that matter) gaining a foothold in the world's markets. |

nobody is holding gun to anybody's head, if they don't like it then they don't need to work there... if they raise wages higher then they won't be walmart, since they will have to raise prices on products to support it, and if they raise prices less people will go there, which will decrease revenue and then they will need to fire other people to keep "part of the family"... as I walk through walmart I see a bunch of employees not doing jack shit, stacking one shelf for an hour, talking to each other like they at the party, their photo section always on a fucking lunch when I come, I don't see WHY they need to get paid more.... they are working at walmart, not a freaking law firm

You may want to stop as T.H.D. just dropped health care for all PT employees and they monitor every PT employee to make sure they don't go over the 29 hour limit...

Can't figure out why some folks can't understand that Walmart jobs are just like fast food jobs. They aren't meant to be a "career". They are meant to be one of three things:
A starting point job, a secondary income job, an "after retirement" job. This is unskilled labor work. A monkey can do most of it. My German Shepard could do it with enough training. People shouldn't WANT to continue to work at Walmart all of their lives unless they are kick-ass smart people who become managers and store owners themselves. |

There used to be a social contract in this country, that's how we grew and became great. Now it's I got mine fuck you, wages are flat and the middle class is disappearing. Our economy is based on consumption, if people don't make enough to consume there is only some much cheap credit to throw around, you got a big problem. |

First thing that makes sense to me is the argument we've had for the last few years: Make the U.S.A. the most attractive place for business to operate. Tax incentives, reigning in the unions, etc. Otherwise companies will continue to take their plants elsewhere. I believe that with a few good tax incentives and getting unions out of the way it could be accomplished. I saw it with my own 2 eyes when I lived in the upstate of South Carolina. They laid it out on a silver platter for BMW. And BMW built their plant there and changed the entire economy of Greenville/Spartanburg S.C. Before they came there in the late 1990's, the area was in ruins economically. The entire area had been all about textiles for over a century. But that was all gone. Then the govt. negotiated with BMW, gave them massive tax breaks. And there is no union in S.C. They opened up. Thousands of people got high paying jobs at the plant. And the ripple effect super-charged the economy there. If the upstate of S.C. can do it...so can the rest of the country. |
