"Syrian President Bashar al Assad may be clinging to life in a Damascus hospital, after allegedly being shot by his Iranian bodyguard Saturday, according to rumors which flooded social media sites overnight.

Right now, everyone will just have to wait and see whether there is any truth to this story. Syrian government officials, by the way, are denying that the president has been hospitalized, and that he will address the country in a few days in a speech.

There are so many conflicting reports coming out of the Middle East right now, it's tough to differentiate between fact and fiction. Only time will tell if there is any truth to the reports that Assad was almost assassinated.

Unlike Mubarek and Gaddafi, Assad is young and strong enough to fight a protracted battle against the rebels in his country. Since the Syrian Civil War was touched off about two years ago, he has shown the same cunning and ruthlessness which his father possessed, and obviously has no intention of giving up his nation without a fight. Last year, another one of Assad's bodyguards blew himself up in a suicide blast.

When I say wealthy I mean having the ability to purchase luxury items, travel on vactions, and afford automobiles and other "high cost" technology for the region. The poor live at a sustenance level, have few or no luxury items, can't vacation further than local regions(many can't afford a Hajj), and travel by service microbus mostly. The seperation between these two groups is gastly. The guestimate for the poor, under previous definition, would range in the sixty to eighty percent range. There is a dwindling middle class here and a small upper class that would make up the "wealthy" statistic. This in mind, the few on the top end enjoy private schools and have far more freedoms to educate themselves outside the country for long periods of time. The poor classes have shoddy at best public schools that do no more than indoctrinate into the ruling political machine and maintain a level of ignorance in a society that claims to be well educated. Different ethnic groups such as Armenians and Kurds live outside the norm of society living within their own communities, speaking their own languages, and resenting being resented. The Kurds have been dealt the worst hand. Even here they are treated as second class citizens by society and shunned from many political events in fear of them gaining any sort of political clout. From what I have seen they definitely take advantage of the free university system, eventhough it seems unprofessional and trite.

If you had researched you would know that there's only a small percentage of people in Syria are do not support him (based on religion). You've assumed after what's been in the mainstream media that there's a legit uprising going on in Syria, which there is not, a proxy army of Western-controlled terrorists have been sent in.
