Nah, it's a reference to the recurring hoaxes about certain celebs dying, that go viral because people don't bother to check facts (or remember the last time the celeb "died"). Morgan Freeman, Jeff Goldblum, Nick Cage... those are the few I remember off the top of my head

I saw this stand up do a thing about celebs that die when you are on holiday - I cant remember most of it but its about when you get back from holiday, away from the news and you make a huge blunder when you get back.

Sometimes you don't find out for years that they are dead.
