Assad Assassination Attempt Rumor Sweeps Across Globe
I hope this is untrue and Assad is OK, hopefully it's just propaganda :2 cents:
http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.a...81474981862748 "Syrian President Bashar al Assad may be clinging to life in a Damascus hospital, after allegedly being shot by his Iranian bodyguard Saturday, according to rumors which flooded social media sites overnight. Right now, everyone will just have to wait and see whether there is any truth to this story. Syrian government officials, by the way, are denying that the president has been hospitalized, and that he will address the country in a few days in a speech. There are so many conflicting reports coming out of the Middle East right now, it's tough to differentiate between fact and fiction. Only time will tell if there is any truth to the reports that Assad was almost assassinated. Unlike Mubarek and Gaddafi, Assad is young and strong enough to fight a protracted battle against the rebels in his country. Since the Syrian Civil War was touched off about two years ago, he has shown the same cunning and ruthlessness which his father possessed, and obviously has no intention of giving up his nation without a fight. Last year, another one of Assad's bodyguards blew himself up in a suicide blast. File:Bashar al-Assad (cropped).jpgGateway Pundit is reporting that the dictator is suffering from serious gunshot wounds, and was transported Saturday night to Shami Hospital in Damascus. The army has allegedly shut down all roads leading into the area around the medical center, according to reports." http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.a...81474981862748 |

SYRIA: CIA-MI6 Intel Ops and Sabotage "Newly discovered documents show how in 1957 Harold Macmillan and President Dwight Eisenhower approved a CIA-MI6 plan to stage fake border incidents as an excuse for an invasion by Syria's pro-western neighbours, and then to "eliminate" the most influential triumvirate in Damascus. " ... "Further : a ?necessary degree of fear .. frontier incidents and (staged) border clashes?, would ?provide a pretext for intervention? the CIA and SIS [MI6 should use ? capabilitites in both psychological and action fields to augment tension.? ... "The plan called for funding of a "Free Syria Committee", and the arming of "political factions with paramilitary or other actionist capabilities" within Syria. The CIA and MI6 would instigate internal uprisings, for instance by the Druze in the south, help to free political prisoners held in the Mezze prison, and stir up the Muslim Brotherhood in Damascus. The planners envisaged replacing the Ba'ath/Communist regime with one that was firmly anti-Soviet, but they conceded that this would not be popular and "would probably need to rely first upon repressive measures and arbitrary exercise of power". I can't be the only one laughing my ass off at those not catching the MI6/M16 typo. Some of you are so ready to fight anything American that you can't even notice a funny joke.
You should ask yourself where your blind hatred comes from. It's not healthy. |

This dude doesn't know shit about what is really going on. There is a reason I'm always calling you, it is because you always bring up the wrong conspiracy theory.
MI6 and the CIA haven't got nothing to do with this. It's the FIA and CONCACAF you got to really look out for. |
Even if he doesn't die in the immediate future, his days are numbered. Does he think life can go back to the way it was after he's tried to murder his people for the last few months? A bullet will find him sooner or later, either from the opposition -- or someone in his circle who has a conscience and can't stand seeing his own people perish like cattle.

the truth is out there if you look in the right places...

It's the Middle East, there are no 'good guys', the people are kept poor and ignorant and the killing goes on whether the US is involved or not.
The best strategy for the West is to drop iPads all over the Middle East until every man, woman and child has one with free access to the Internet. |

Obviously those leaders in the middle east are stand up guys and just have their people's best interests in mind. |

when has spreading freedom and democracy ever worked? it hasn't. fuck. think about it. what makes you think dropping an ipad on a village that trades goats for currency and hides their women's faces for 1000s of years is going to all the sudden bring them prosperity? use your head, we've been piping our shit into people's homes for decades and that's exactly the problem. |

I don't give a shit about either side but you gotta love these kind of blanket statements made by people like you who know only what they saw on YT or read on conspiracies theory sites. |

This was Iran before the Islamic revolution.. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/__e2VLp6gwy...600/BR11-1.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/__e2VLp6gwy...1600-h/BR9.jpg You think they always lived like a bunch of backwoods religious hicks that forced religion on everyone with zero acceptance of freedom of choice? Death by stoning or hanging if you choose not to obey? You guys are fucking idiots if you think the middle east is the way it is now by choice of the people if they were "given" a choice. The Iranian revolution of 79 happened largely due to economic issues created by their corrupt Monarchy whom was viewed as western friendly. That monarchy became increasing oppressive and more corrupt until the people revolted and were largely played a fool by allowing the Religious extremist to take the lead as they were the most organized group at the time. Oh gee that sound familiar with what happened in Egypt? Yea just like the people there wanted freedom but not domination by Western ideas, they too revolted and were taken advantage of by the "Muslim brotherhood" whom you guess it just happened to be the most powerful group ready to take charge when the govt failed. You think the people in Egypt really want the situation they have right now? Do you really think that's what they protested for? Much the same can be said about Iran in the late 70's early 80's before strict Sharia Law was imposed on them. |

but you are still not getting it. 1st, the thread is about syria. 2. the social structure is 2 classes- ruling class, the have's and the don't have much at all class. 3. you do not get that an ipad/electronic device is a LUXURY item. period. moreover, it is a luxury item with a fancy screen designed to play movies and show pictures. 4. so you think dropping a bunch of electronic luxury items on the lower class is going to somehow magically do what? create prosperity? completely change the class structure? how on earth would the ruling class allow that? that by allowing them to watch reruns of fresh prince of beverly hills is going to save them? that by giving them access to information is equivalent to giving them some sort of tool for bettering themselves? we're spoiled here, we think luxury items are the norm and are basic requirements to good living. they are not. i won't even get into the fact that those people have not asked for our help in bringing them up out of the *doldrums* you think they are in. unsolicited *help*? no. |
3 out of 4 syrians are in the lower class of the 2 primary social classes there:

The enduring failure of democracy promotion abroad.
The American quest to spread freedom to autocrat-ruled nations is widely popular among foreign policy wonks. Too bad it doesn't work http://theweek.com/bullpen/column/22...omotion-abroad |
here's another way to look at it
