Even if he doesn't die in the immediate future, his days are numbered. Does he think life can go back to the way it was after he's tried to murder his people for the last few months? A bullet will find him sooner or later, either from the opposition -- or someone in his circle who has a conscience and can't stand seeing his own people perish like cattle.
