cottage cheese.. lean protein, muscle gain means more fat burning.. yogurt is ok too if you get the kind without sugar.

I don't even diet anymore to be honest.. Less processed foods sure, higher protein intake yes, more vegetables of course but strong resistance training working large muscle groups and you lean up automatically... i'm getting great results on a 2 month program so far doing exactly that... shit I don't even do much cardio even...

My sister is 42 doing the same program and getting the same results.

come on man you are too smart to fall into this con ;)

2000 calories of marshmallows vs. 2000 calories of lean proteins mixed with fresh vegetables. You think your results will be the same? Of course not. Protein intake=muscle gain=fat burning=weight loss even without exercise this happens (obviously better with).

That being said diet is only a tiny contributer compared to resistance exercise mixed with interval training. My way takes more time than people starving themselves, definitely.. but my way doesn't have a yoyo effect and is more effective for the long haul results.

he's right - and muscles do not grow by themselves. if you just sit by your computer the result will be the same. the problem with 2000 calories of marshmallows is that it's not a big amount of food and you will be soon hungry again - opposed to a healthy mix of food.

Believe it or not, these pork rinds have 24 grams of protein and very low carbs per serving.

http://www.microwaveporkrinds.com/

I get these over the bagged supermarket type, because there's less(maybe no) preservatives. They're pretty awesome hot when they come right out of the microwave, and fill you up, even though its mostly air.

Exactly.

1000 calories of broccoli will do more for your midsection than 500 calories of chocolate bars.

All food is extremely lush... I love a good steak, fish, paella is my fav, but I suppose there is always that big craving that comes along for a juicy burger, especially those tasty BigMacs.

I do a couple of healthy snacks I guess.

Total cereal crushed a bit smaller, some crushed walnuts, some raisins. Easy to snack on.

Natural applesauce with frozen blueberries. Replaces ice cream.

I've gone through phases like that myself believe me... never too late to turn shit around though..

surely you must be walking your dogs right? That's exercise right there. A gym isn't always necessary to make a difference.

Seriously? Do you have any idea how much broccoli you'd have to eat before you hit 1,000 calories?

About 24 calories per 100 grams of broccoli.

1,000 calories / 24 = 41.6

You'd have to eat 41.6 servings of broccoli at 100g per to hit 1,000 calories. That is 4,166 (give or take) grams of broccoli.

1 pound = 453.59237 grams. 4,166 / 454 = 9.17 lbs. Of broccoli. Not even Adam Richman would consider eating that.

You want to saute the broccoli in butter or bacon fat, you could probably cut it down to about 3 or 4 pounds per serving.

"Hello, healthy vegetarian restaurant waitperson, I'd like to order your three pound steamed broccoli lunch platter, please."

HOLY SHIT I WOULD RATHER HAVE A FUCKING CHOCOLATE BAR. Or two...

Oh, btw, I 100% disagree with your initial statement.

I don't mean to literally eat 100 calories of broccoli. I'm just saying some people get caught up in this "calories in, calories out" thing and don't pay attention to the quality of food intake.

haha yeah I understand the point you were making too, but garce did manage to bring up a good one as well. It's not easy to reach calorie goals with certain vegetables alone hehe

I use the same argument when people try to vilify milk and dairy products. The amount of vegetables you would have to stomach in order to obtain the equivalent calcium that is in a single glass of milk is ridiculous and practically not attainable.

My fav way to start off my day currently is Fage (this brand is seriously the BEST taste and texture I have found) plain greek yogurt with pecans, coconut flakes and a sprinkle of splenda. I snack on carrots/bell pepper/cucumber with hummus-sooo tasty! I try to keep a fresh pineapple cut up in the fridge when I am looking for a sweet snack, and I don't eat pork and always substitute ground beef for turkey.

Myoplex is poison. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/m...rink/index.htm

Food quality is much more important than food quantity. Exercise (preferably some of type of weight lifting and high intensity interval training) should be a part of your routine at least 2-3 times per week. Also try to get 8 hours of quality sleep every night.

The fear of fat and dietary cholesterol is irrational and there has been no actual link shown between cholesterol intake and blood cholesterol levels. Your body needs saturated fat and cholesterol to maintain organ insulation, produce hormones (including sex hormones), etc. Naturally fatty foods are very healthy and also far more satisfying than any sugar-ridden or artificially sweetened reduced fat items.

If you're eating processed carbs every day, but eating lean meat because you think it's the way to go then you're probably going to end up as a diabetic if you aren't already one. The only scientific studies that have ever linked heart disease and high blood cholesterol to high saturated fat and cholesterol intake left out key data that proved there is no correlation at all later on. High blood cholesterol is a symptom of damage already done to your body and the cause for the damage is not your dietary cholesterol.

Unfortunately, by now most people somehow believe that humans should be eating 65%+ of their daily calories in carbohydrates. This dietary advice over the last 20 years has netted us a massive increase in diabetes, heart disease, etc. The only thing keeping people alive longer is modern medicine, so even if you have a heart attack at age 40 because you sit on your ass all day and eat garbage, you might still live to e 75+. A shitty life, but you'll be alive.

Once you actually educate yourself about what a person should be eating, you will be shocked reading labels at the grocery store. Why the fuck is there high fructose corn syrup in most processed meat products?!

What you should REALLY be avoiding (instead of animal fat and cholesterol) is vegetable oils, all processed foods (they tend to be packed full of sugar and/or preservatives), cereal bars, pasta, bread, candy, chocolate, etc. If you're a vegetarian, you're pretty much fucked in my opinion.

What you should be eating: Fresh meat (any kind), fresh fish and seafood, vegetables, nuts, avocados, sweet potatoes, rice, potatoes, eggs, high fat dairy, fish oil and some fruits. Keep your salt intake as low as possible. If possible, only use fresh sea salt (not the white kind, but the kind that is slightly gray in color and semi-wet). Eating salt other than natural sea salt will bring up your water retention.

Healthy snacks: Homemade beef jerky, vegetables with some type of homemade high fat dip (i.e. fresh guacamole), nuts (almonds are great), fruits (by themselves or with fresh almond butter) or fruit with mascarpone.

Healthy snacks: Homemade beef jerky, vegetables with some type of homemade high fat dip (i.e. fresh guacamole), nuts (almonds are great), fruits (by themselves or with fresh almond butter) or fruit with mascarpone.
sold I'll finish what I hae on hand and that's that... thanks

What's your fave?
Bananas, nuts, canteloup, coffee, water. I lost 19 lbs in the 3 months but replacing snacks with real food. (well real except the coffee)

Really on the button. Using rice instead of pasta sounds good. Also see where you are not a big fan of veg oils. Salad dressings certainly will put on the weight.

The main thing is you have to get in tune with how much you should be eating. Let yourself get hungry until you start to lose then you get an idea what quanity you should be eating no matter what it is.

Also the cheapest, unrefined foods are the best. You have to do a little prep work.

Beans and potatos and greens of all kinds (salads). Dont overdo the salad dressing tho. A serving of beans (I like kidney and pinto, with a little seasoning) everyday is really good for you.

Lost about 8 pounds last couple weeks mainly cause I just wasnt eating as much and was eating all natural foods like beans and baked potatoes.

But mainly it is the overall quanity per day you are consuming. Especially oils which you need to use some but cutting back a bit on oils really helps to lose or maintain weight.

Getting a Ninja Blender and making smoothies from frozen vegetables has been the key reason I've lost 22 lbs since May. That, and playing basketball almost every morning.

I live on sugar, cake, chocolate. I would say a strawberry cheesecake for breakfast and a blackforrest gateau for lunch would be sweet

Insanely hot curries mostly. Doesn't matter what else I eat because next morning it will be flying out at lightening speed.

For snacks, I'm all about baby carrots, bananas and strawberries. I also love cottage cheese with hot sauce or greek yogurt. Om nom nom.

wow i thought i put hot sauce on everything.. hehe

I buy eggs by the tray these days, I'll whip up some eggs with some mixed vegetables as a snack or a quick meal.. and yes hot sauce works well with it! I try to eat it without toast for the most part, but one piece here and there wont kill you.. I'm not anti carb or anything i just make attempts at keeping the beast at bay! ;)
