About 24 calories per 100 grams of broccoli.
1,000 calories / 24 = 41.6
You'd have to eat 41.6 servings of broccoli at 100g per to hit 1,000 calories. That is 4,166 (give or take) grams of broccoli.
1 pound = 453.59237 grams. 4,166 / 454 = 9.17 lbs. Of broccoli. Not even Adam Richman would consider eating that.
You want to saute the broccoli in butter or bacon fat, you could probably cut it down to about 3 or 4 pounds per serving.
"Hello, healthy vegetarian restaurant waitperson, I'd like to order your three pound steamed broccoli lunch platter, please."
HOLY SHIT I WOULD RATHER HAVE A FUCKING CHOCOLATE BAR. Or two...
Oh, btw, I 100% disagree with your initial statement.

I don't mean to literally eat 100 calories of broccoli. I'm just saying some people get caught up in this "calories in, calories out" thing and don't pay attention to the quality of food intake.
