I cannot imagine where the profit would be in discovering how we got here, only how to alter what already is or to create what will be. As soon as someone can figure out how to profit from answering how we got here, we will begin to figure it out.

Science, like everything else in our society, is profit driven. The research that would be required to answer this question will not come with a price tag of zero.

What is the evolutionary advantage to many human beings born with the need for meaning? What evolutionary/survival advantages does it confer to a group or to humanity as a whole, if any? How can it be proven that it is based on an unchanging set of truths? How do we discern truths that transcend time (history), place (geography), and practices (culture)?

My dog jumped on my lap an hour or so ago and it looked like she was thinking about something ... but then I wondered ... how can a dog think if they don't have a language other than barking? I think in English, German people think in German. What does a dog's thoughts sound like?

imagine if we lost the means to use technology and electronics. lets say a world disaster wiped out much of civilization and all that was left was us here on gfy, only the people in this post even... who among us would be able to get us up and running again as a society? farming, commerce, education, all of it. how would we be able at that point, make something permanent to signify that we were here and knew all that we know and pass it down to generations to come? How could we make a permanent record of it? maybe we would make markers such as pyramids to show astrology and mathmatics? carve in stone in plain english (but generations from now may not even know of or speak english)
