I cannot imagine where the profit would be in discovering how we got here, only how to alter what already is or to create what will be. As soon as someone can figure out how to profit from answering how we got here, we will begin to figure it out.
Science, like everything else in our society, is profit driven. The research that would be required to answer this question will not come with a price tag of zero.

Of course it does. The "religous" answer is faith-based, but still an answer.
The science answer is theory.
Neither are provable at this point so people who feel the need to choose one side or the other often also choose to argue with and throw ridicule at the other side.

imagine if we lost the means to use technology and electronics. lets say a world disaster wiped out much of civilization and all that was left was us here on gfy, only the people in this post even... who among us would be able to get us up and running again as a society? farming, commerce, education, all of it. how would we be able at that point, make something permanent to signify that we were here and knew all that we know and pass it down to generations to come? How could we make a permanent record of it? maybe we would make markers such as pyramids to show astrology and mathmatics? carve in stone in plain english (but generations from now may not even know of or speak english)

Do you understand what science is? We have science to learn about our universe. Science isn't a concept that comes out of thin air and answers all the questions. Science is the process of finding things out that we do not yet grasp through a logical and rational manner.
Religion runs on faith. There's no evidence, there's no proof, it's blind faith.
Science runs on logic. There's evidence, proofs, it's a logical system to acquiring knowledge.
The idiocy of some people astounds me. Science is the most important advance to come about in the last 100 years and we've only just scratched the surface.
