I want to move out of US, give me ideas..
I like the sun, I like the beach, I like not to be mugged.
Where are some good places for a white american to live outside the US that fit the above criteria? |

Bermuda is far too expensive, next would be the caymans and I'd just stick with the bahamas if I were you.... No income tax plus you can buy a relatively decent place to live for $150k and as long as you're not out in the stix you have good cable internet.
Yes I've been looking into moving, basically if you buy a house valued at $500k+ you get put into the express lane for citizenship if that matters to you. Otherwise every so often you just have to leave the country for even 5 minutes (boat to sea?) Costa Rica is another place that is loved by alot of people here. Basically west coast people head to costa rica and us east coasters hit a caribean island. With some of the bahama islands being so close to the US and a cheap plane ticket away its easy access.

As far as rules in australia. You can't hot porn on australian servers and you wouldn't want to even if you could. The banning of internet porn hasn't happened yet and seriously I don't see it happening either. If they did you ring your ISP and say unblock me. But aico wasn't asking about the rules. Just a nice place to live.

While I understand the need to leave the USA, it always cracks me up to hear other Americans ask where they should move. I find this is usually unique to Americans because Europeans have usually done a lot of traveling already, while most Americans don't know much past the islands and parts of Mexico. A few know a little about Europe, but just the tourist spots. I'm not sure why Americans as a while don't travel as much as the rest of the planet, but that simply is a fact. But you Europeans and Japanese... you guys are everywhere.
With all that said, don't just move somewhere. Pick a few place and go live in each one for 3 - 6 months and see if you like it once the newness wears off. See if there will be visa issues that will force you out after X amount of days. Move around until you find THE PLACE, and when you do, you will know it. |

Americans lead the hospitality industry because they travel more frequently than Europeans.

If you are serious, check out Panama and Colombia. I love Costa Rica, but relative to those other countries, it is MUCH more expensive to live there. I would recomend the Dominican Republic, but their infrastructure is shit. Also, I am assuming that you are making a decent amount of money through online ventures. If not, you may want to reconsider moving to another country like the one's mentioned above, expecting to find a job simply because you are American, and planning on opening a sports bar IS NOT an original idea.
In addition, please learn the fucking language of whatever country you chose to move to. I always cringe when I meet gringos who have been living in Latin America for 5-10+ years and can't speak more than 5 words of the language. My personal opinion, for an american making a middleclass or upper-middleclass salary online, Latin America is one of the best values out there. I have heard good things about South East Asia, but haven't been there yet. |

hi, there are 2 golden places with good quality of life in Mexico right now
1. Akumal (40 mins south of Cancun, 10 from Playa), with a great bay 2. Saltillo (3 hours from Texas in the Northeast of Mex) The first combines the sea, the beach with an active local life. The second is a growing city full of american way of life with new houses in the range of US $150.000 inside fenced communities (if you are too linked to the US you can be there in 3 hours for any paperwork). Daily flights to Houston and soon to Dallas. American schools growing (since there is a growing american community too). And a city with no traffic problems (hiking, deer hunting and mountain lifestyle just 20 mins away). Two Paradises in your backyard! (no... I'm not involved with any federal tourist agency lol!). PS yes, tequila available anywhere, anytime of the day (and other "interesting" products of Mother Earth....) |

Im surprised no one has mentioned any place in Asia...there are places like Phuket, Thailand...Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, and even places in the Philippines I would choose over pretty much any place mentioned above.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They may own the most corporate hotel chains, but they do not travel more. That is just a fact. It's for the best though, most of the world hates Americans these days if not because of their leader, but because Americans llike to be asses where ever they go. I have been to over 100 countries, many of them 2 and 3 times, often not running into a single American. When I do, it's always the main tourist traps like Paris or Berlin or the occasional trendy island in SE Asia. However I ALWAYS see Europeans, Asians and Aussies. |

Philippines is a nice one though. At least they speak English and are lax on their visa regulations, even though they don't have to be. It's only a payment or fine if you want to stay past your stamp time. Malaysia. LOL Not unless you are a Muslim and just want a place to hide away. Not much going on there once you have been there a few months. I tried it, though KK (Kota Kinabalu) was called Jesselton back then. Though if you can find a way to stay in Hong Kong... That could be a real option. Incredible city. |

Argentina is intrigueing.
Personally, I feel the US has alot to offer with just about every climate you could desire. However, there are also alot of places in the US I wouldn't want to live.

Most Island getaways are just that...getaways for a few months at the most...but if you base your operations out of HK then you can have best of both the city life in HK and getaway for a weekend or longer to many of the beach destinations around Asia. I know a lot of Eurpoeans who move here for a short work stay and never go back...but again when you consider the average pay package an Expat gets here there is no incentive to move away. |
