Creationism. Is it really a crock of shit?

think about this.

archelogical evidence is proving more and more of the old testiment. Stories believed to be fables are proving true via archelogical digs more and more - and astounding us that the archelogical evidence backs up the stories in the Bible, like the great flood, sodem and gahorma, the asserian invasion, and on and on and on.

so why would the idea of creationism be wrong?

if the majority of the old testimant is proving true - why would this story be false?

think about it.

There's no doubt that it's a book with some historical facts related to that area of the world in the past few thousand years. More and more of it are true? No. The earth is still over 5,000 or 6,000 years old. If anything, it's a history of the semitic people, including their legends or myths.

You're the one closing your mind. Explore further.. don't just jump on the creationist bandwagon and propaganda. Delve deeper. Written history and language is far older than they claim the entire Earth is.

The Bible begins with "In the beginning...." but it could just as easily begin with "Once upon a time".

I believe in a higher "power". I believe we we're "blessed" with some ability to think for ourselves. ( not counting anything here at gfy ). Organized religion is something we've developed and used to our benefit ( "our" being those in power ) over a very long period of time. We ( they ) fine tuned it. One great example is how bush used evangelicals. The closed minded people I've met and am related to don't believe in the possibility that all this shit happened with no meaning "string theory". Its hard to think when you're dead that's it. I think about this stuff too. To make my post even weirder I used to know one of elvis hair dressers. Very old lady. When I would drive her around her skin would fall off in the car had to clean it out. Old as the hills she told me how she used to believe in a lot of things but came to the realization that there was nothing after we're gone... but she was married to a con man so maybe that had something to do with it. You have to think about who wrote the bible back then too. What were the motives. Hell didn't start out as what it is known to be now. My 2 cents. Not being closed minded. Search for truth is an uphill climb for everybody and we all will get there in the end. If you ever read "lord of the flies" or seen the movie and understand at some point a society has to conform to certain "god" beliefs otherwise you're done. and now ... be yourself, think for yourself ! your post got me because I think about the same shit sorry about rambling ...

So you think that because a small nation of people in the Middle East were able to create some pretty far-fetched stories about some events they knew about and that were pretty contemporary to them that we should believe their stories about events that happened - in reality - billions of years earlier than that?

The flood story was borrowed from the Babylonians so should we now extend that belief to all the Babylonian "myths"? (See syncretism). In fact, some scholars note that much of the Biblical creation story was probably borrowed from Babylon. And why would that be? Because jewish scholars were forcefully taken there during the 6th century BC diaspora. Yeah, that is in the Bible too. So final edit came after that.

But the Bible is not reliable. It is utterly not so. Who believes that the first people were "created" in the Garden of Eden in modern day Iraq? So human life didn't originate in Africa? It originated in the Middle East? Funny thing 'bout them fossils.

Our universe was created by an alien race known as the Markovians. The Markovians had mastered energy to matter conversion and lived on planet-sized computers that could conjure up anything they wished for. But they were unhappy, bored with immortality, and felt they had somehow missed something important along the way. Out of desperation, they decided to start over. They created a new universe, seeded with countless species of every design. Sacrificing themselves, they entered these new creations, to evolve all over again, with the hope that one of them would get it right this time.

AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Oh dear. Great way to get up in the morning

For the record, im not laughing because you potentially belive in Creationism (because thats just sad), im laughing at your HORRIBLY illogical argument.

Unless i read it wrong, youre saying that since SOME stuff in the Old Testament -MIGHT- (because thats by no means proved, and even if it was, it would still have to be linked chronologically) have been true, you belive it elevates the possibility of other stuff in the Old Testament being true.

I have to ask one thing tho. Why did you pick Creationism? Why didnt you just flat out say "existence of God" ? That would have been the exact same argument.

Or wait, check this out. Since most of whats being said in this post is true, why would what im about to write now be false?

Creationism is a load of illogical and unscientific guesswork backed up only by fanatical beliefs.

Think about it.

I believe that some of the stuff happened as sorts... and thus, there'll be evidence of it. But seriously, how long ago was it written, and by how many people? It's like phone tag at best.

The world flooding? Please, they hadn't even discovered most of the world at the time, so to make such a claim is impossible.
The world as far as they knew it (a few hundred miles?) flooding? That's entirely possible. In which case, they would need a boat big enough to hold a hundred animals or so. A huge feat back then, but no where near what a church would have us believe today.

So yeah, I believe a little of column A and a little of column B. No one could come up with the whole bible/christian story on their own without there be some essence of truth somewhere along the line. But how much that truth got twisted and changed over time is one thing we may never know.

btw did you ever happen to think that maybe the bible was partly based on facts and fiction? Just because some parts are factual doesn't mean every part of it is.

Do research on where the bible came from and you will find most of it has been taken from many different religions and lumped into one. Do I think there was some guy named jesus who had a big following .. Yea.. do I think he walked on water and was the son of some holy god.. umm no.

Religion is nothing more than a tool to keep the peasants in line.. Even the Greeks knew this years before the Bible was ever even thought of.

Not closing my mind to this idea, but I don't think they should teach it at school since it's based on no scientific facts

its hard to think that as complex as the human body and mind is, or even all creatures and organisms are that there wasn't a master designer behind it all. the fact is no one will ever know for sure no matter what is found.

sure, some of the stories in the bible might of happened, but in those days everything was explained via god. god created a food to wipe out sinners, god did this or that but they had no other way to explain anything. todays science is yesterdays religion, though much more reliable im sure in a hundred years or so many scientific theories will be challenged and debunked. BUT that is the main difference between science and religion. science can evolve but religion can't. new ideas aren't excepted, only viewed as blasphemous.

anyways, that is a bit off topic i suppose but just because stories in the bible have some historical backing doesn't mean the explainations behind these stories written in the bible are true.

There is but one God and his name is Archiot, the perfect one, the metallic wonder. Archiot is absolute. His mechanical touch delivers the Unis from despair and into his cold embrace. Governing over the Megasphere, manipulating it for all eternity, that is his gift to us. All we have to do is embrace his robotic retribution.
