Why the hell do people have kids when they have no money to support them?

To tell you the truth I think its the opposite in a lot of cases. My dads whole family (there's 6) has at least 3 kids, most have 4-5. They simply want kids. It brings them happiness. My dad just told me yesterday his wife is pregnant. People like kids.

My mom has 4 kids and I've heard her say numerous times that she wished she had another.

Some people really are poor and just plain stupid. Others just like kids and make appropriate arrangements when needed.

Christmas at grandmas is crazy, always like 50-60 people haha. Big families are actually kind of cool. I've often heard people say "wow I don't have any cousins" or "my cousins live really far away".

1) most important reason is procreation (also poor people tend to have as many kids as possible cos only some of them will grow up. they can't afford hospitals and sometimes even food so they give birth to 10-15 kids so at least 5 of them could survive)
2) support. children support their old parents. the more kids you have - the more chances you won't be starving when you are old. Rich people don't have this motivation.
3) cheap labor/ more working hands
4) ignorance. they don't know about condoms, or don't know how to use them, or their religion doesn't allow condoms or abortion etc
5) just fun. most of them never travel, visit theatres, watch TV (cos they don't have any) so their only entertainment is sex.

You pretty much covered the bases there. Same reason why farmers always had large families. People who were always around to help take care of the farm, bring in the crops, take care of the family and eventually take over the farm.

Poor people are less likely to move away from their parents/family so there is always some sort of 'support' available, even if it does mean cramming 10-15 people into a shitty double wide trailer.

In many countries there is no way out of poredom! they are born poor and dont have any chance becomming "rich"

Poor is a relative term as well. More often than not, you see these "poor people" bitching and moaning, but one of them doesn't work, or they both don't work, or they dropped out of school at age 8 or something... or they just can't seem to keep a job.

I remember watching a documentary a couple of years back about the welfare --> emplyment programs in some states. Many of the people in these programs had no sense of responsiblity, no sense of time, and didn't think it important to show up every day. Most of them didn't know HOW to keep a job, and the jobs they would get were bottom of the barrel lowest of the low... and they had no chance to move up because of their shitty attitudes, being late, and taking days off for no reason. They were without a doubt their own worst enemies.

The scary part? one girl was like 19, single mother of THREE kids. That's right, 19 with THREE kids. She had been popping them out since 16, and apparently didn't see any connection between dropping out of school in grade 9 and having 3 kids as being a reason why she was having a hard time finding a job, let alone one that paid enough.

You can give some people a clue, write it down, staple it to their foreheads... and they still won't have a chance.

All you people who are saying that money does not rule, well weather or not this is true the fact of the matter is that it becomes very difficult to raise children without any money. They need to be fed and clothed at the very least. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have a child when you yourself are struggling to make ends meet; these people are adding another expense to their lives that most of them can't handle. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against having children I just believe that there is a time and a place for everything and don't believe that everyone is fit to be a parent, it's a shame that any old fucker can have them.

Actually I know a lot of women who are single and were actually in a good postion to have a child until they got dumped by their partner who will not support them financially and then get stuck with a child and very little help and time to actually find a paying job since all the responsability have been put on their shoulders alone.

when surviving depends on exchanging money for goods to live, you have to base it on 'a dollar' to some extent. unless these people are totall self sufficent (which you'll pretty much never see in america) they need money to some extent just so the kids can eat. if you are having kids you can't even afford to feed and cloth, that should be a crime. sure its a 'right' but is it right to bring children into the world when even their most basic of needs won't be met?

OK... "Rich" is relative, and it's nice to know you may have $1mill stuffed in a bank, - but that is not exactly going to change your whole life (despite what many folks think).

It's also true that there is a element of abusers in any society - that will never change and it's nothing new.

Decrying people who are not "rich" can often be unjustified and often arises out of a stereotype where folks who are not rich are classified as "losers" blah.

Can think of a few people who are not rich, but they have contributed more in their lifetime than 99% of us ever will do. Academically, they are highly educated and with a wealth of experience which has been applied to help others. These folks are highly respected for who they are - not how much money they have. They have a very modest lifestyle and have no problems with that.

One is a college professor (least by profession), but he spends his time on projects and eg just finished a project in Africa heading 3000 people working on developing methods of growing food in the desert, for which he got UN awards and where the UN have adopted his model. He also has testimonials from ministers of many govts where he offered his services and worked with them. This guy can't even afford a car - he's a giver, not a taker - and we gave him a car to help him get around. Between his projects - he's personally involved in helping others. All he wants to ensure is that his family have an education and ensure they are equipped to be able to offer something in their lives.

Another is an international jurist. She has negotiated everything from international boundary disputes to regional conflicts. Sure, she got her expenses covered for her work, but she is not "rich" or anything near that level and lives in a very modest home. Recently she was the first lady to be appointed as a justice to an international court and she is looking forward to being of use to the court, - at least she will be salaried during her term as a justice, - but that is not why she has accepted the nomination. Her interests come from being able to contribute - not from a financial aspect.

Despite both have barely any dollars between them, they are highly respected both locally and internationally. Back to - it's who you are that matters, - not how many dollars you may be clutching

and just said "Jazz man, I live like a king just look at my treasures".
And there they were. Sitting at the dining table, playing a board game
and laughing like only kids can laugh. It was just like in some family-movie.
I immediately understood what he was trying to say.

More often than not, you see these "poor people" bitching and moaning, but one of them doesn't work, or they both don't work, or they dropped out of school at age 8 or something... or they just can't seem to keep a job. I remember watching a documentary a couple of years back about the welfare --> emplyment programs in some states. Many of the people in these programs had no sense of responsiblity, no sense of time, and didn't think it important to show up every day. Most of them didn't know HOW to keep a job, and the jobs they would get were bottom of the barrel lowest of the low... and they had no chance to move up because of their shitty attitudes, being late, and taking days off for no reason. They were without a doubt their own worst enemies. The scary part? one girl was like 19, single mother of THREE kids. That's right, 19 with THREE kids. She had been popping them out since 16, and apparently didn't see any connection between dropping out of school in grade 9 and having 3 kids as being a reason why she was having a hard time finding a job, let alone one that paid enough. You can give some people a clue, write it down, staple it to their foreheads... and they still won't have a chance.

They need to be fed and clothed at the very least. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have a child when you yourself are struggling to make ends meet; these people are adding another expense to their lives that most of them can't handle. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against having children I just believe that there is a time and a place for everything and don't believe that everyone is fit to be a parent, it's a shame that any old fucker can have them.

"Rich" is relative, and it's nice to know you may have $1mill stuffed in a bank, - but that is not exactly going to change your whole life (despite what many folks think). It's also true that there is a element of abusers in any society - that will never change and it's nothing new. Decrying people who are not "rich" can often be unjustified and often arises out of a stereotype where folks who are not rich are classified as "losers" blah. Can think of a few people who are not rich, but they have contributed more in their lifetime than 99% of us ever will do. Academically, they are highly educated and with a wealth of experience which has been applied to help others. These folks are highly respected for who they are - not how much money they have. They have a very modest lifestyle and have no problems with that. One is a college professor (least by profession), but he spends his time on projects and eg just finished a project in Africa heading 3000 people working on developing methods of growing food in the desert, for which he got UN awards and where the UN have adopted his model. He also has testimonials from ministers of many govts where he offered his services and worked with them. This guy can't even afford a car - he's a giver, not a taker - and we gave him a car to help him get around. Between his projects - he's personally involved in helping others. All he wants to ensure is that his family have an education and ensure they are equipped to be able to offer something in their lives. Another is an international jurist. She has negotiated everything from international boundary disputes to regional conflicts. Sure, she got her expenses covered for her work, but she is not "rich" or anything near that level and lives in a very modest home. Recently she was the first lady to be appointed as a justice to an international court and she is looking forward to being of use to the court, - at least she will be salaried during her term as a justice, - but that is not why she has accepted the nomination. Her interests come from being able to contribute - not from a financial aspect. Despite both have barely any dollars between them, they are highly respected both locally and internationally.
