Danni is worth more then Jenna, on the internet value. Jenna however is a bigger brand, but i wouldn't think it would be that big of a difference. 3mill for danni is a steal.

as much hate as I see on the boards about dhdrevx, I personally like it, not only can we check all the programs from one interface, but we also can track lots of other things other than just page hits

i can track my clicks from my site to the tour pages, i like that

i think you all should also buy dvdrevx and revamp that, hehe

unfortunately, danni is not worth NEAR what jenna is worth anymore

maybe 5-8 years ago, but not now

walk down the street and ask anyone who jenna is, they know

ask them also who danni ashe is, most don't anymore

danni left the porn biz a while ago BTW

How do you figure Danni is worth more than Jenna?

Overture Searches
Danni Ashe 32000 Searches
Jenna Jameson 500,000+ searches

I agree Penthouse got an absolute steal but to compare Danni and Jenna is silly. If you run the numbers Jenna had 23,000 to 35,000 members when she sold. If Danni was that size then it would have sold for much more.

Jenna is way bigger than Danni online and offline. Danni has been retired for 2 years and hasn't been in the news or anywhere for two years. The two women are in two completely different leagues.

It's never pleasant to not acquire something we were in the market for. Danni had been on our radar for some time and we were pursuing a deal. Unfortunately Penthouse beat us to it and they got a killer deal done. Kudos to them on a great pickup!

Playboy did get a good deal on Jenna. The public info says

"Playboy paid $7.7 million at closing, with additional payments of $1.6 million, $1.7 million, $2.3 million and $4.3 million required in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010"

I bet the future payments would have been tied into some performance matrix. Jenna is still active on having her name in the front (she was on news 2 days ago) so their is a brand while Dani has been out of site for 2 years

I don't think the site was that big, I think part of the revenue was the production side.

Jenna is bigger than Danni Ashe in the public imagination now, but
PB often overpays so I think we got the better deal when all is said and done.
However only time will tell.

For now, we are focusing on updating the member experience so Danni.com is back on the cutting edge, the tours are converting better, and the place is firing on all eight cylinders.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement!

Hmm you may be right. When i had run those numbers i hadn't factored in the production side. Good point

I think PB bought Jenna at her peak and you just picked up Danni at a low. Definitely a good time to pick it up. A few changes and you'll have it kicking ass in no time. Back in 99 and 2000 i used to do $10,000+ a month with danni's. I know alot of affiliates (myself included) are hoping to see the return of the amazing danni sales numbers

I'm sorry shap, you are missinformed :P Jenna had WAY less members. And even rounding it up with 12k member gap is huge. Even all the sites jenna pulled in had alot less then you think. Thought you had better sources . I checked my numbers, i was initially missguided about what danni does, but compared to what jenna sold for, and what danni sold for, danni is a steal. And quite a bargain really (if 3 mill is ever a "bargain").

Not so much difference online. As i state again, i retract the statement that danni is bigger online, and jenna is definatelly a bigger name offline, but online, they're at par in some instances. Thought danni would go for way higher, considering how much jenna sold.

My numbers may have been off because i failed to factor in the revenue generated by the production company. I still think Jenna is considerably bigger than Danni right now. Danni at her peak was huge but that was 5 years ago. Danni's popularity was 100% PR related. She retired the PR died and the idiots moved in to run the show. As a result their their traffic sources dried up. My numbers for Jenna were off but she still is much bigger. Is she 6 times bigger? I don't think so. But as was stated pb likes to overpay

Hey Shap…
Reading up here, I didn't know Danny retired, that kind of fills in a huge gap. Still a good buy for the brand though, lots can be done as long as doesn’t get overdone.

I think 7.7 for the Jenna brand and site is a good deal too, just don’t think she had anywhere close to 25k members.

--

Penthouse, DRM doesn’t improve retention, that’s a myth. You can take the same content, re-stamp it, open two different sites, update a new video/photo set a week, one with DRM and one without, they will retain the same. DRM just costs you more time, money, and headaches. If you plan on setting up PPM billing on videos then that’s a different story.

I thought the Jenna deal worked out to 18mil.

I based my 25k members on the report last year that they were doing 12mil a year online.

Wow, nice if they end up with 18 mill out of that deal, even more so if they made 12m a year and still get 18m out of the deal.. Nice little bonus.

Thanks for your post TheDoc but maybe I wasn't clear. We are removing DRM from the Danni members area. One of the biggest customer complaints at Danni.com is problems with the video delivery and DRM because they really make you jump thru hoops to watch downloaded videos. I heard this as a complaint from webmasters esp review sites; so I used it as an example of one of the many things we are in the process of changing at Danni.com.

Thanks tho.

The question is not their revenue, it is their net.
If it was low or zero, the deal was a stinker even if CJ
had 200,000 members.

Guccione did some crazy things like publish alien autopsy pictures and invest in nuclear fusion back in the day, but I think that is just part of the wild days of porn. If most people went from zero to half a billion dollars in assets, they would do some crazy stuff too.

LOL... you should refer back to your previous post about perception.... everyone obviously thought the site was worth more, she obviously saved enough money... going right back to that same loop

nothing is ever what it seems...or what people speculate it as being...

Well.. alien autopsies can sell covers Know someone who made millions selling utter crap fantasy fiction as "news".

But remember em well - you remember the Caligula movie and the casino adventures? We used to eat in what was supposed to be a fully operational casino, but it never had a license (duh!) - so the place was empty apart from the dining area and hardly a customer in sight. Despite that, I liked Bob and Kathy a lot tho never seem em for many years now.

It was disappointing to see some of these plans - you kinda new they were not going anywhere. The last one I heard of was a proposed mag in the Balkans or somewhere - not a hope in hell, tho this was supposed to be the savior. Kinda painful watching the empire slowly stagnate and sink over a few decades.

Never really kept up with the story of Molina et al - who knows, it may have a better chance of earning some dollars if there is commercial ability at the top.

Wow, 3 mill sounds low at first, but I guess since Danni left and the company was going to shit, as well as the stock options they got, it might have been ok...

Depends how much stock options they got as well I guess...

No. They owed us money too. We haven't used them since Marc Bell took over.

We use our own merchant account

It hasnt really been mentioned but I guess the SEC disclosures will list the cash outlay vs the stock option value in the 3 Million number. If only a portion of the $3M is in actual cash, then Penthouse really got this on the cheap. Like Shap pointed out, Danni.com is really a distressed property right but if they got it without having to put up alot of cash, the downside to this deal is not as low as the highside if they do a turnaround. I have followed Danni.com probably closer than the average bear here since our company has history with them, and for the longest time have looked to be hurting.

Congrats to Penthouse on the pickup. You guys work magic there as well as your print title, you should be crowned the turnaround artists of Adult.

Mike, Congrats to you and Penthouse for the purchase of Danni.com

Penthouse is starting out like a 'new Internet powerhouse' with Jill Kelly now Danni... what's next XonDemand.com ... hehe..

I hear from Hoovers online that Penthouse Media Group (PMGI) isn't in the hotel business, but it does allow pets into its penthouse.

Mike, hit me up when you get a minute... I sent over the Jill Kelly details last wk, I will followup with you on danni also now, I love Jill Kelly and Danni 's it's great content ; we will get you more exposure on our network for both ;

I heard this as a complaint from webmasters esp review sites; so I used it as an example of one of the many things we are in the process of changing at Danni.com.

Thanks tho.
Ahh my bad, Good move then!
