Teh BoyAlley's Latest "Public Service" Project Needs YOUR Help!

Ok so we raised $5,000 for the Ray Guhn defense fund. GREAT!
Ok so we raised $14,000 for the Free Speech Coalition. REALLY GREAT!

Now, it's time to think bigger! And I'm talking bigger than even my penis!
Ok. So that's not very big.....

The goal? Simple:

1. Provide FREE condoms to porn surfers and educate them on safer sex practices.
2. Generate POSITIVE publicity in mainstream media outlets about the adult entertainment industry.

The adult entertainment industry provides an outlet for adults to explore and enjoy their sexuality in a responsible and healthy manner. As part of that message the industry will be offering FREE CONDOMS and safer sex advice to the public.

I'm not talking 1 little sample condom either. I'm talking 6 free condoms per month per person, and each person is welcome to request an additional 6 free condoms each and every month!

CRIPE MIGHTY THAT'S GOING TO BE A LOT OF CONDOMS!
THIS WILL COST LOTS AND LOTS OF MONIES!

I have considerable experience dealing with mainstream media from previous industries that I've been in. This includes dozens and dozens of television appearances, and several thousand newspaper and magazine appearances. I am CONVINCED that this campaign will generate positive press for the industry as a whole, and help to spread our message of the positive impacts of pornography in people's personal lives and relationships. IF, and I stress IF it's perceived as being an effort undertaken by many organizations in the adult industry, and not an individual effort.

That all being said, this project is going to be HUGE. I'll be pitching in time and money but this isn't something that Teh BoyAlley can do alone.

Here's what I need. Who's going to step up to the plate?

We'll obviously be recording some commercials cuz I'm gay like that, but any other models and studios interesting in doing a gay version of the promos are more than welcome.

I agree there are some questions with "AdultCondoms", and "PornCondoms" will be the major push by far.

In some markets, however, "PornCondoms" might not fly. We have several other dozen domain names registered, and will be exploring all of them for redirects depending on the market we're promoting in.

Certainly something that we've thought about. I don't think it's something we'll be doing for $2,000 / year sponsorships however.

This project is going to cost some SERIOUS bling, and we can't get tied down for a sponsorship that amounts to $166 / month.

However, if someone really wants to step up and get us going on the right foot, I'd entertain all possibilities.

Ah, but this project IS hiring a lobbyist. THE GENERAL PUBLIC!

Let's face it, they love us. Our problem as an industry, is we're not vocalizing that in the mainstream.

I'm tired of seeing nothing but the radical religious right talking about our industry unchallenged. It's time NORMAL CITIZENS are heard as well.

This $2K/year thing gonna be open for a while, or is this a one shot thing? I dont have my shit together, but when I go to promote my stuff (we talked about it, you know what it is) this IS something I would promote.

Also, Cable TV ads are cheap once they are produced, so is radio. You can also buy alot of promotion in those alternative weekly free tabloid things for next to nothing.

As long as this project has interest, and assuming people continue to have sex, the sponsorship opportunities will be available!

I suspect as things move along we'll have opportunties available at different levels as well. For now I'm getting this going out of my own pocket, and think the $2k number for anyone else wanting to get involved is a good place to start.

Of course, if someone wants to step up with a larger sponsorship, as I said, we might be able to work out some thexy things (like branded condoms, etc.)

Statistics from public health organizations that give away free condoms show a much different story.

Believe it or not, many many many adult men and women are still uncomfortable in this day and age purchasing condoms. Even if they are comfortable, EVERYONE likes getting stuff for free!

I anticipate based on statistics that I've read that the average person making the request will be college age men and women.

From my perspective, having surfers that want the condoms isn't going to be the problem at all. Funding what will be such a MASSIVE distribution of them will.

Also remember, the goal of the project is two fold:

1. Give out free condoms to our surfers.
2. Generate much needed positive publicity for our industry and open a public dialog.

I believe that a safer sex campaign is the best way to achieve objective #2.

You can't team up with a company like that and maintain independance of voice at the same time.

Sure condom companies are all about promoting safer sex. They are NOT about promoting the porn industry.

Supplying condoms to a site operated by, and promoting the positive aspects of, the porn industry would put them in a middle of a PR controversy that they wouldn't want to be in.

As a side note, the condoms themselves won't be the major expense with this project.

Why on earth do so many people on here believe the only cause in the world is that of hungry children?

I don't have kids. I'll never have kids. And on top of that I'm gay. Right now a gay advocate for children wouldn't fair too well considering things like the Foley drama. A LOT of other people dedicate themselves to that cause, and I'm glad for that. But children are not my cause.

There are PLENTY of causes out there. Our industry gaining a voice in the mainstream dialog is one of them.

Doesn't anyone ever get tired of seeing talking head after talking head on the news from places like the Family Research Council, without anyone from OUR industry there to provide perspective?

If we want to generate a dialog in the mainstream world, and become more legitimized as an industry, and hope to stop even increased arbitrary regulation, this project is an example of exactly the types of things that we need to be doing.

Since I happen to work in this industry, it seems to me like EXACTLY the type of cause that I, and hopefully many others in this industry, should take up.

In case you haven't noticed, the "mom and pop" webmaster is going through the process of being regulated out of existance right now in the USA. Increased regulation doesn't hurt the big boys, it hurts the mom and pop. That's true in ANY industry. How many mom and pop shops have the new 2257/4472 knocked out of existance already?
