Why on earth do so many people on here believe the only cause in the world is that of hungry children?
I don't have kids. I'll never have kids. And on top of that I'm gay. Right now a gay advocate for children wouldn't fair too well considering things like the Foley drama. A LOT of other people dedicate themselves to that cause, and I'm glad for that. But children are not my cause.
There are PLENTY of causes out there. Our industry gaining a voice in the mainstream dialog is one of them.
Doesn't anyone ever get tired of seeing talking head after talking head on the news from places like the Family Research Council, without anyone from OUR industry there to provide perspective?
If we want to generate a dialog in the mainstream world, and become more legitimized as an industry, and hope to stop even increased arbitrary regulation, this project is an example of exactly the types of things that we need to be doing.
Since I happen to work in this industry, it seems to me like EXACTLY the type of cause that I, and hopefully many others in this industry, should take up. |
