You should step back and talk to some of the vets from past major conflicts.
The so called abuse that the media is highlighting right now is a walk in the park compared to previous stuff.
Some of the things that went on in vietnam make this "war" look like a walk in central park.

being a vet I can tell you that there are a hell of a lot of us that disagree with this war and Bush and that goes all the way to the top Generals - including some active duty ones - but I guess some of us have the historical perspective to know that thes types of things are calm compared to past stuff - and to understand that over the last 50 years America has gone down the tubes because of its leadership starting after WWII until the present - until someone is voted into office that really cares about the US the trend will continue - but I guess you would have to get the 70% of US citizens(or so they call themselves) to actually go out and vote to make that happen

90% of those boys over there are between the ages of 18-20, I'd bet, and at that age, they don't know what THEY are doing at that age, much less defying their orders/superiors. They are just babies themselves. I hate this war and I hate everyone calling ths shots in it, but I support those boys 200%. Keep in mind their ages and try and remember when you were that age. I am 42 now and I remember thinking I knew everything and I was invincible and so on, but now looking back, I realize I didn't know jackshit at that age. Those boys ARE doing what they are told and they are scared and alone, without their families...... don't abandon them because the government has put them in this situation, that makes you no better than the men telling them what to do.

I have a 17 year old son and almost daily I have Military people calling me wanting to recruit him. They say he signed up for this and so on, and I know better, my son is SO not a fighter, and he wants nothing to do with this shit. They are fishing and they are in the wrong fishing hole because they will play ALL kinds of hell taking my son into that shit. I may have been out of line, but I told the one that called from the Marines that I'd blow both his kneecaps off myself before I'd send my boys over there.

I support those boys, but I don't support this war or anyone guiding it.

No, but then again, German soldiers did not have the choice whether to join the army or not. A great-uncle of mine got executed for refusing to join the army, actually.

On the other hand, the entire SS (which was basically a group of elite volunteer soldiers) was later deemed a "criminal organization", and thousands of its members were executed simply for being in the SS.
