VERY well said, thank you, SgtStrider!! People NEED to hear and read this from YOUR point of view!! Only then will they get it I think, and even then some won't. The thing with my son, he doesn't have it in him to "kill or be killed", he just doesn't have that mind set and he'd get killed so fast, this is why I don't want him in anyway involved in the military. We KNOW the choices that have to be made and we know more than some what these guys go thru as we have tons of friends that served in Viet Nam and we've heard all of the things those boys had to go thru.
If my son had his heart set on going, I'd be very sad but I'd let him go and do what he felt he needed to do, but he doesn't and I won't have any part of it. I don't believe in this war by NO means, but I certainly believe in those boys over there and the sacrifices them and their families have made. Just that MY boy doesn't have it in him and he doesn't want any part of it. This is why I am so adamant about this with recruiters when they call here. The TELL me that he signed papers, but funny, if he signed any papers, they would have his name right and they can't even tell me his name, so there's no way in hell they are doing anything BUT trying to bully ME, as his mother, into making me think my son opted for this.
