ePassporte funding with CC - cash advance?

I opened an epassporte account and fed it $25 with my credit card to fund it initially and give epassporte a whopping $5 for doing nothing.

Now I find out that this charge on my credit card was categorized as a cash advance. Therefore, my cc bank charged me cash advance fees.

Did I miss the warning saying that funding my epassporte account with a credit card would be the same thing as taking money out of the ATM with my credit card or did my credit card company not categorize this charge correctly?

I thought it was just going to be a standard credit purchase.

Yes, they charge $5 of every $100 you deposit to the account but this was not what I was asking. I deposited $25 using my credit card. They took $5 that is fine.

The $25 was charged as a CASH ADVANCE on my credit card. It would have been no problem if it was charged as a normal credit purchase because there are no fees associated with that. However, since it was charged as a cash advance, finance charges were attacked by my credit card bank.

So again my question: did I miss the Epassporte note saying such a deposit would be considered as cash advance by my credit card or did my credit card bank mis-categorize this transaction as a cash advance?

Yes, You missed that piece of info...

If I choose to load with a CC, I see something like "*Please note: Your bank may assess cash advance fees..." on the reload-page.

Not much You can do about it other than to be aware of it from hereon.

Thanks Diligent. I remember seeing a warning that said your bank may assess fees but I thought that was only if you were depositing with your bank account ... I guess I missed the 'cash advance' part because I would've know it was for credit cards as well.

Yes you missed it, its says on the load page that your bank may charge it as a cash advance.

It's actually "the other way around"; that ONLY happens with CC reloads - basically, banks consider regular bank transfers safer for them so.. no risk of such fees there.
I just did an EU bank -> ePass transfer myself, but there's another downside with that; seems I may have to wait like 2 weeks for the money to settle at ePass..

When I tested the system it took a 3 or 4 days for me. Please email me the transaction ID you got from 2000charge if its been longer.

Someone else posted about this same issue months ago, after having been hit with about $10 in cash advance fees.

I've only loaded my card(s) once in 2.5 years but they did not list it as a cash advance transaction fortunately.

It should be more clearly stated in the terms that they put it through as a cash advance, although they don't "HAVE" to do it that way.

Yea, I actually tried search for it on GFY but the search function just doesn't seem to like me most of the time.

But in the end, this was my fault entirely because I sort of assumed from the beginning that epassporte would be a close alternative to Paypal in the adult industry. I just decided to stop using epassporte for money being sent out and use it strictly for receiving funds from other epassporte members.

Its listed on the page when you go to load money via a credit card, if you have any suggestion on how to make it more clear, please let me know and I will forward it.

Actually, no, if someone doesn't pay their balance in full every month, the interest accrues daily on a cash advance. Depending on your balance you could end up paying quite a bit.

Some credit card companies charge you interest even if you pay in full, and begin charging it from the minute you take the cash advance.

Either way, you're fucked.
