I work out more now so I need a good and healthy diet. I am burnign calories daily working out so the frozen diners won't do it for me.

Oh and as per fruit I have 1-2 fruit shakes daily made out of real frozen fruits.

36 and I am changing lots of bad habits in my life, hope this will work out well for me... You coming to Toronto bro?

You can lose a lot of weight eating sand and coconut trees. I say go for it.

Seriously though... I went the low-carb route and I got really sick. I also started having a lot of allergic reactions to things I'd never been allergic to before... lots of rashes. It took months to get back to normal.

I can't prove it was the diet, but you know.. if it sounds too good to be true...

I would not consider the South Beach Diet low carb especially in Phase 2 and 3. Though the first two weeks if you follow it to the letter can be challneging. Try not to eat out and you should be OK.

Anway, I think it seems like a good eating plan for men who want to trim down a bit but still eat a variety foods. Similarly the Abs Diet by one of the contributors to mens Health magazine is good for men.

So far, the research on low carb diets indicates that the weight loss won't be permanent, if that's what you're after.

If you're working out, you need a balance of carbs, protein, and fat..but, the good ones, not the processed crap and bad fats.

It's not difficult to choose healthy...we generally choose not to, because nachos tastes better than boring chicken.

um, well personally I think all them diets suck balls!! Yea ya may lose a little water weight, and maybe a pound or two but it will be back and then some once you stop your(s) or any diet!! I started working out Feb 27th of this year I was at 250 lbs 5'11 I am now 215lbs and its April 24th! I eat 5 to 6 sometimes even 7 meals daily NOT a huge meal either, small meals and have 1 cheat day a week.

I eat whole foods only try to cut carbs 3 hours before bed, whole wheat bread, noodles, rice etc.. Green veggies instead of starchy ones, Ill give you a sample, 7am 8oz whey protein, some creation NOW not when i first started, 1/2 cup maybe a whole cup of oatmeal, with the butter that is only 50 cals, but only a table spoon and a pack of sweet low, 10 am on my days I don't hit the weights I will drink a shake, be it slim fast,or a breakfast shake, 1pm I will have a boneless chicken breast with ff cheese on two slices of wheat toast with two tomato slices 6 eggs(whites only) and 32oz of water, which I drink close if not over 2 gallons a day,

4pm I will have 1/2 cup green beans, 4oz boneless chickbreast more water or tea, 7pm 6 eggs(whitesonly) another 8oz whey protein shake and a min of 12oz of water 10pm will have 2 oz chicken breast btw I cook all my chicken on the new George foreman grill ITS AWESOME That is just a small sample of how I did it, it varies day by day on the days I hit the weights which is Mon-Wed-Fri I eat more carbs in the morning and more protein through out the day, I do a max of 30 more like 20 on my weight days and 30 on my non weight days! Cardio 5 days a week I am 33 years old a single father of 2 kids 6 and 10 and do my work which I work here at my home/office

Fruits are great if eat right, be careful of anything that says FAT FREE look how much sugar is in the fat free stuff too much sugar turns to fat Stay away from fruit juices white breads junk food etc.. Hope this helps if I can do this anyone can do this I'm the most lazy sob lol
Tom

I have never tried any diet. It's very hard for me to stay away from food. I only rely on the gym to loose some extra pounds.

"South Beach Diet

Premise: The South Beach Diet is structured around a balanced eating plan of 'good' carbohydrates (whole grains, fruits and vegetables) and 'good' fats (unsaturated).

What you eat: The South Beach Diet recommends eating foods that the body takes more time to absorb and elimination of highly processed foods, saturated fats and sugar, which are processed quickly by the body and cause a spike in blood sugar, and more hunger cravings.

Comments / concerns:

* Faulty science and inconsistencies abound (Tufts University HealthLetter)
* Low-carb diets work for some people and not others. There's no evidence that their short-term effects produce long-term weight loss, while the added expense could lighten your wallet. Equally important, we know little about the long-term health effects of high-protein, high-fat, low-carb diets. (Harvard Health)
* No long-term risks based on current research. (Office of the Chief Health and Medical Officer, NASA)

Every little thing you do towards creating a healthy life for yourself -- cutting down on junk food, exercising, eating organic -- will create benefits. Just slowly, consistently chip away at creating healthier habits and you will enjoy lasting results.
