Apart of anything near L.A.

I'm trying to figure out good cities for filming in. Places were there is very little trouble to find talent.

I've considered Montreal but it looks like a nightmare because the few agents there want to keep the prices high and charge a percentage of what I pay the girls. (I have a philosphy of negotiating out privately with each girl.)

I looked at Toronto but the 1 bukakake I tried to film there was a disaster. 1 man showed up from the 50 promised. (I was aming for 10)

I was considering Chicago and Vancouver BC.
Any other places I should be looking into?

If you're looking to shoot BDSM (I'm assuming that from the photo in your sig) you should check out the Tampa Bay area of Florida. There are several major producers there, and lots of local ladies who you might be interested in working with.

Actually I don't film that stuff at all. I'm a semi retired pornstar turned video producer. I did that photo in my sig with Ken Marcus. Personally I'm really not into BDSM and wouldn't be able to make a decent product.

IMO a bad "philosphy". Sounds to me more like you're hustling them with "package deals" - but again, this is my opinion. I wouldn't really know.

I will say one thing - I was never much of a fan of agent fees, but now I'm all for them...when a model isn't cooperating, it's so much easier to just call her agent than to try and deal with it yourself. It doesn't happen much on my sets, but when it does, it's worth every penny to call an agent.

And if the agent is working his/her ass off to get the model work, then they deserve the 15% (or so) they get from the girl.

So yes, I am trying to get the girl for as cheap as possible. It's damn hard to do that if the guy brining the girl stands to make more too.

And speaking as former pornstar. NO snatch or colon is worth some of the rates a few people try to charge.

But on that note, most of the time I don't negotiate. I say what I want, how it pays. And the girl can take it or leave it.

I always live in my studio. Can't see a reason to spend money on two places. For me I think I could go back to L.A. but it's like pulling teeth with da spouse. For him, his idea of paradise is places like Iceland or France in the winter. IE: Dark, depressive and must have "archetecture" and "character."

We do well in the NY/NJ area, not a ton of good shooters and talent rates are cheaper on this coast. Problem is there are no agencys out here to book girls so you have to find them all yourself. If your ever in the area to shoot hit me up i have a large studio to rent

You want to find talent easily but you don't wanna go through agents ? it won'T be easier in one city then another.

You can always deal with agents... in mtl. You just gotta give them your business and guarantee them a couple of shots and they'll give you better deals.

MTL is cheaper then LA and lots of other places still

I recoommand you hit Daniel from eromodels in montreal... he's great. All of his girls have training in front of hte camera, they know how to look at it and act... they have good attitutdes and act very profetionally... he's more then just a normal agent ;)

Well I used to run ads in the local newspapers. But you kind of have to be careful about what you say in it. Nude Figure modeling usually works and networking the men that want a shot porn is pretty good too. (Just tell them to bring you a girl)

I give them their $100. And that's a flat rate regardless of what price I get the girl for.

So if I use one of their girls, I have no problems paying them.

Any percentage cuts they get should be from the girl. Not ME! Because if I got to deal with that crap I can just hope on a plane, go to Moscow, Philipeans, etc, etc, etc.

It would just be nice to settle down in one place and film. Not have to worry about airports, hotels, etc.

I love Montreal... I truely do.
For 4 years I lived near the Préfontaine métro.

It's an AWSOME town for escorting. A girl never has to even place an ad and she can grab $200 to $300 an hour between 9am and Noon. Most other places you have to be running around with drunks at 3 am to get that.

But the last time I was in the city(1 Year ago)

The talent was niether abundant nor all that reasonable.
And when I have to produce, I shooting sometimes 2 gonzos every day for 2 or 3 months non stop.

My fear is if I manged to talk my husband into stepping foot on Canadian soil. I would run out of girls in a week.

I do not know on the U.S. as a whole, but depending on what you are shooting, I would say find a college town.

I do not shoot hardcore, nor M/F, but we do mostly 'fetish' things. We have more than enough girls contacting us to keep us busy, and we can't even get them all in within a given month!

We do not do the newspaper though. Business partner used to use his connections at strip clubs and so on before I took over the recruiting. I find a lot of them from online networking groups, and word of mouth spread it from there. It was a rough go at the beginning, but after we picked up some decent one's, and they heard about the 'referral fee' then they started doing a lot of the recruiting themselves. Bringing us more girls so we did not have to be as active is promoting, or recruiting.

Now it's on auto-pilot. I get plenty who contact me weekly, and am at the point we can turn away those just looking for money, and do not have an image that will sell, or not 100% down with what we do.

If you are in a college town, if you know what you are doing, and how to recruit, you will have more than enough hunnies contacting you all the time.

As for agents, and such. I do not deal with them. I have had them contact me any number of times, and people who want to be the middle man, or whatever. We stick to the business model, no matter how hot the girl is. This is what we do, and what we pay. Period. If they don't like it, keep steppin.

We have budgets, and we are not going to blow them for some girl who's marginally better looking dealing with agents, and fees. Fuck that!

First of all who the hell are you? You claim to know me yet I have no clue who you are.

Third, when I worked for Bang Tour, Rebbeca Lords introduced me to Patrice. He told me how much it paid and I accepted. There was NO negotiations. As for how much it paid... Trust me it wasn't that much.
NO BIG BUCKS INVOLVED AT ALL.

I also worked for HPG and that was half the price.

So don't talk to me about wearing the director's hat and being hippocrite.

Let me tell you about Hot Video.

We called them many times to purchase advertising in their magazine. Never returned our calls. Had cash in our hands to purchase full page colour ads! But they didn't want our money.

Then one of their employees who was operating as a PIMP. Promised us to staff our production with girls. We trusted him!
Instead 1 week prior to the shoot, with locations booked, crews hired, etc. We had to fly Russian girls in to complete what we started.
You see he didn't want to do shit for us until he got his Dick Sucked. In fact that's how girls got publicity in Hot Magazine.

Next the webdesign company that agreed to develp the sites for us. Well their number 1 client is Hot Magazine. They wanted to take our footage and give it to them to use free of charge. We nicely explained.. "No thank you. We don't want to do business with Hot."
They forwarded our emails, stole footage from us, etc. And we were left with SHIT!!

Yea... the webdesigers are using footage without releases and bad mouthing us because we expected them to do their fucking jobs.

And if you are friends with these people you must be just like them.

So yea...
My reputation is bad. But thats because I do my fucking job and I don't kiss ass. And since I'm the person with the money... It's MY ASS THAT SHOULD BE KISSED!!!

Well this area is fairly conservative to a point. This is no joke, when I called the papers to advertise after taking over the recruiting, they told me they will not list "model ads" unless you take out like a half page thing, AND talk to their supervisor to make sure you are legit.

That was a huge red flag, and expense. So I passed on that.

I did what some of the others here recommended. The name's escape me at the moment, but I went for the underground scene. College newspapers, messageboards, MySpace, and other such networking sites.

I also gave a few "key" networking people the head's up in the dance clubs I used to go to, and they spread the word. The bad thing is when I would go to my old haunts, I was flooded with people annoying me all night showing me their feet, and asking questions. I do not mind so much to a degree, but a loud ass dance club's not the place to talk business. So I would flip em a card, and tell them to call me during business hours some other day.

But as the saying goes, it's easier to keep a model then find new one's. So we treat ours well, and then tell them if they refer others we'll pay them a 'referral fee'. Nothing gradious, but a little something extra as a thank you.

Through that, and keeping my networking profiles active, as well as a few other things. The models and girls contact me now. So I rarely have to recruit anymore. Just meet with them, sort out the flakes, and those who are not a good fit for our stuff.

I used to get contacted by a TON of males, but eventually I got the point across we shoot ALL FEMALE and NO MALES. So we are not interested. We did have some of those pimp hat types, who would tell us that they could line up the women for miles, and the trade off is we would have to show them the business, give them referral money, and all these other things.

They need to remotely look like they still have some innocense left. Not danced it away in the bar, or up their arm.

All that said, I would recommend to anyone getting into content providing to follow the advice given by others on here. Work the underground scene, college campuses, messageboards, chats, and networking groups. Sure it's harder at the beginning, but you just get a better group of girls to work with, and less flakes.

As for all the dudes or pimphats who claim they can deliver this or that. Just blow them off, or tell them the same thing I have. You deliver (fill in the blank) many girls who I can use, willing to do this, and whatever. THEN we'll talk about some form of compensation.

You know that is the problem with this industry in a nutshell! Everyone and their fucking brother claims they can do more for me than the holy messiah himself. What gets me is it is these same people that promise you the world and then get pissed off when you tell them you're not interested. Or if you do take a chance on them, they get angry when you do expect them to do everything they said claimed they would. Like you, I make it very clear what I want and how much I pay. You can take it or leave it. When I was talent it was the same thing. The decision to work for someone at a certain price was up to me. When I worked for VCA I knew it was $1000 for anal with my husband, my call time was at 2pm but I wouldn't get home before 3 am. It's just the way they worked and I knew that. I even turned them down once. And I was known to do anal for $500 if I the entire shoot took less then 2 hours from the time I arrived on set. (IE: My call time is 1pm and I'm in my car driving home by 3:05pm.)

LOL I have a collection of photos of the run down, old and scary looking women. Like you, when I shoot I have a ton of work to do. We have several large markets that we distribute our DVDs to. Creating our product is crazy because we have flimed as many as 3 gonzos in a day. And filmed EVERY DAY, NON-STOP for 3 months.

Here is my problem with France....
There has got to be perhaps 12 quality girls out here and they are in EVERYTHING! These girls might be sweethearts and my husband adores Ana Martin. But most of them hardly have a Fresh Look and I can't make my videos with that few girls. Most don't have a flexiable look and once I have filmed them a couple of times... Thats it!!

And they all want to use condoms!!! My clients won't buy even 1 of my DVDs if there is a single condom in it.

Perhaps this country is great for making features and porn-chic. But I make the same return on my money with gonzo and have less headaches.
I mean do the math.... I can crank out a feature for between 20k euro to 35k euro and I make the same amount of money as if I made a 5k euro to 8k euro gonzo.
But it takes me 3-5 days to shoot it and long edit times. Whereas I can easily crank out a hardcore gonzo each day. When you look at it that way, I probably make more NOT fucking around with features.

And yea I'm going to stick to the underground. The newspaper ad is usually just to kick start us in an area.
But what I find is really important is the "cultural attidudes." In the United States, there is an acceptance to exchange sex for money.

Other countries.... Well....

I do not shoot hardcore, nor M/F, but we do mostly 'fetish' things. We have more than enough girls contacting us to keep us busy, and we can't even get them all in within a given month! We do not do the newspaper though. Business partner used to use his connections at strip clubs and so on before I took over the recruiting. I find a lot of them from online networking groups, and word of mouth spread it from there. It was a rough go at the beginning, but after we picked up some decent one's, and they heard about the 'referral fee' then they started doing a lot of the recruiting themselves. Bringing us more girls so we did not have to be as active is promoting, or recruiting. Now it's on auto-pilot. I get plenty who contact me weekly, and am at the point we can turn away those just looking for money, and do not have an image that will sell, or not 100% down with what we do. If you are in a college town, if you know what you are doing, and how to recruit, you will have more than enough hunnies contacting you all the time. As for agents, and such. I do not deal with them. I have had them contact me any number of times, and people who want to be the middle man, or whatever. We stick to the business model, no matter how hot the girl is. This is what we do, and what we pay. Period. If they don't like it, keep steppin.
