This has to do with a serious customer problem that

had to be resolved between the customer and myself.

The customer and I have come to terms.

The terms were something we needed to negotiate.

The reason we had to negotiate them is due to the unique situation
this problem was generated by.

I want to keep it clean guys, there is alot to the story that is simply no ones
business and I do not want to violate my customer privacy rules.

I would not divulge any customers information in a public forum.

Both BDJuff and myself just needed to settle it out so it was fair.
I really dont care much what this thread says because everyone who is
commenting is doing so while locked in a vaccum of one sided and missing information.

Leave it alone people.

Also, I must say, I am ashamed at the other hosts pissing in this thread.

Sorry, by your own admission you owe the guy money so why didnt you send it, part of it or communicate and make a decison and an agreement and move on? Thats the crux of the matter....you owed! Wire sent, ducking phone calls and whatever just compounds the problem.

I am relatively new to adult but heavily involved in telemarketing and other businesses. I sent you an email re your VOIP product a week or so ago....please disregard as I am no longer interested. I am sure that wont worry you, but it would if you knew my monthly VOIP costs.

Interesting, this seems to contradict your earlier statement of "yes, I did fuck bdjuf over". Its certainly your perogative to keep certain details between you and bdjuf, but so much is already out there that being vague at this point is only going to cause people to speculate. If you'd been a little more forthcoming you might have been able to save face a little rather than taking the full brunt of this thread.

I think the customers partner threatened him, I wouldn't put up with that either. I would of paid him and then closed his account within a couple days.

Funny I have been threatened twice by hosting customers. The first one is still with us because we are afraid to cancel him and he's more chill now. And the second we gave him 7 days to move refunded the difference.

Once time this guy threatened to kill me if we didn't take down a website with his wifes details on it. That was gnarly

thats NOT alot... think of it this way... a 'default' mail server can send average 15 mails per second... which is 54,000 an hour... a tuned basic mail server sends about 50 per second (180,000/hr)... and peak at about 80 second (that doesn't even count multi domain single message delivery. etc)

even if you had a domain iwillmailyouonstuesday.com and someone signs up monday... and you mail them tuesday... 75% will still complain its 'spam'.

as for the class C thing.... if the spam traps catch more the 3-5 ip's in a broadrange of the same /32 they ban the whole /32.
OR
if the Domains pointed to said IP's have a black listed whois record information or portion there of... then the whole class C is banned...

plus last I heard split uses verio bandwith (premium stuff) and a BAD place to mail through...

Merrioc: your numbers are so far off as to be laughable.

First off, if you ran a true double opt in (opt and confirm) list, and then mailed under EXACTLY the same name with a newsletter, and mailed consistantly with that newsletter, and didn't sell your lists, didn't share the names, didn't single opt in, scrape, or add names from other unrelated lists, your spam count would be very very low (I use to mail lists from my 4free style sites, with almost never a complaint).

Second, the actual number of people who will complain TO YOUR HOST about spam is very small indeed as a ratio of mailings. My guess would be a number well under 1/10 of 1%. 350 complaints would suggest way more than 1 million mails out in that same time frame (plus maybe 1 hour for reaction... so perhaps 350k mails per hour outgoing). 75% of people don't complain (most have filters, spam cop, or feel that just hitting delete does the trick - people will only complain about truly annoying spam, and most of them are not able to easily track down the source of spam).

Sadly, some service providers do allow this type of mailing, and some bandwidth providers seem to have no problem allowing their network to be spam spewing sewers. If a couple more of them got a little more on the ball, spam would slow down very quickly indeed.

Because a lot of banks won't accept the transaction to activate the card. ePassporte is based in some small country island. And not all sponsors create accounts.

I been around this online thing since just about before these was one (I had a oldtimer the other day comment on my 3 digit flashcash account... and I got that probably year 2 or 3 in the buisness!) Trust me, I ain't no noob. You sound like a noob because that is your entire comeback.

Now, Noob... SI is located in California. So beyond can-spam, there is the Cali laws regarding spam to deal with. Regardless of where bdjuf is (not far from my house), he is subject to US laws and California state laws because of where he is mailing from.

As for proxies, well, have you considered that maybe the boxes were specifically turned into proxies? Maybe bdjuf's magic spam-o-matic software forgot to take care of something in the headers, and as a result he was easily traced back? Perhaps there is something in SI's network that through him a curve ball. You don't know, and I don't know... but we do know that 350 complaints came in within 2 hours. A pro spammer usually won't get caught out so easy, so there you go.

A honeypot would be a possiblity...

I am never jealous of someone who makes their money by annoying people, breaking laws, etc. I don't kiss spammer's asses, and I don't kiss the miserable spyware / malware / toolbar / helper tool installers' asses either. Both business models make a ton of money, but at a long term cost.

How much better would the porn business be if moron spammers didn't keep sending porn spam to 12 year old kids and politicians families? It would be hard to raise a ruckus about porn spam if there wasn't any to deal with.

Merrioc Confirmed User Join Date: Jul 2003 Posts: 249	"350 spam complaints in 2 hours? holy cow.. hacked windows boxes?" thats NOT alot... think of it this way... a 'default' mail server can send average 15 mails per second... which is 54,000 an hour... a tuned basic mail server sends about 50 per second (180,000/hr)... and peak at about 80 second (that doesn't even count multi domain single message delivery. etc) even if you had a domain iwillmailyouonstuesday.com and someone signs up monday... and you mail them tuesday... 75% will still complain its 'spam'. as for the class C thing.... if the spam traps catch more the 3-5 ip's in a broadrange of the same /32 they ban the whole /32. OR if the Domains pointed to said IP's have a black listed whois record information or portion there of... then the whole class C is banned... plus last I heard split uses verio bandwith (premium stuff) and a BAD place to mail through... joel... suggested reading...

First off, if you ran a true double opt in (opt and confirm) list, and then mailed under EXACTLY the same name with a newsletter, and mailed consistantly with that newsletter, and didn't sell your lists, didn't share the names, didn't single opt in, scrape, or add names from other unrelated lists, your spam count would be very very low (I use to mail lists from my 4free style sites, with almost never a complaint). Second, the actual number of people who will complain TO YOUR HOST about spam is very small indeed as a ratio of mailings. My guess would be a number well under 1/10 of 1%. 350 complaints would suggest way more than 1 million mails out in that same time frame (plus maybe 1 hour for reaction... so perhaps 350k mails per hour outgoing). 75% of people don't complain (most have filters, spam cop, or feel that just hitting delete does the trick - people will only complain about truly annoying spam, and most of them are not able to easily track down the source of spam). Sadly, some service providers do allow this type of mailing, and some bandwidth providers seem to have no problem allowing their network to be spam spewing sewers. If a couple more of them got a little more on the ball, spam would slow down very quickly indeed. Alex
