Why is it a horrible gift for an employee? I don't get it. Most employees get a $25-50 gift certificate to the local grocery store for Christmas... if I were the employee I would much rather have the luggage, thats a nice gift.

You're an anti-cheerleader. Cheerleaders follow someone around and praise someone no matter how stupid they are. Anti-cheerleaders follow someone around and dog someone no matter the issue at hand. I know quite a few people that don't like SleazyDream, but they don't follow him around and chastise his every move. I hear knitting is quite therapeutic, maybe you should give it a shot.

You're an idiot. If Sleazydream gave them EVERYTHING else than a stupid luggage, I wouldn't reply to this thread. Especially since he's wondering why he/she gave it back to him.

You just don't give luggage to an employee, like I previously mentionned, it's like giving a brand new mop to a janitor or a brand new keyboard to a secretary..

If you're too dumb to understand my point of view it's not my fucking problem, you should take a walk for fresh air or have a nice cup of tea and do some thinking..

Ok. So far you're the only one contesting luggage is a "horrible gift!" Maybe you're the idiot?

You should reserve your opinion until Sleazy answers the question about his current/past relationship with that employee.

No, because most people in this thread are biased. They simply are Sleazydream's brown nosers, just like yourself.

Well if they took the stuff inside and gave you the luggage back with at least a "Thank you for the gifts, but the luggage perhaps could go to someone who needs it" would have been sufficient.

Luggage is not the coolest present ever trust me...my parents got some one year from my grandparents and laughed about it when they got home...they took it back to the store that my grandparents bought it from and used the credit. They were too nice though to tell my grandparents that luggage sucks.

I bought my girlfriend a Bread Maker. I think it is a great gift. She is expecting a ring, or something . . . so she will really be surprised!

I will be soooo pissed if she doesn't love it.

No idea why luggage is like a mop. I do not think this person is expected to travel with Sleazy. I like luggage as a gift as most people do not blow cash on it for themselves. Cool gift.

Sleazy, just my two cents but use this to get closer to the employee. Kind of a why did you give it back? Maybe they are super comfortable with you as a person and did it to be truly helpful. It was too much cash? They do not like you and wanted to show it? Bad deal but possible. Might work out to be a good thing.

I'll take it ;)

They kept the rest of the stuff so it's not like they have that "i don't want to accept anything from you cos i don't like you" attitude.
It's indeed a weird thing to do so, but obviously that person doesn't think about it that way.
Luggage is a nice gift tho, something everybody can use

Useful?! WTF?! Do his employees travel every day or even once a month?! I wouldn't call that useful. Useful is a nice gift certificate or a nice cash bonus. I don't think we have the same vision of what "useful" is.

I'm sorry, but luggage is already a lame ass gift. I can't imagine what it is for an employee to receive it.

So he/she kept the stuff inside and gave back the luggage.

Unless the employee stated he/she wanted new luggage, he/she may of thought it was a hint to find a new job. Who knows but I would feel odd recieving that type of gift since it could give me a mix message.

If I liked my boss and working within the company, I doubt I would return it and thank him. But, I would be wondering if I should be looking for a new job.

Even if you use it once a year ... you're gonna be really happy when you don't have to buy one.

I suppose the idea of actually giving people something is foreign to you.

no i don't intend to travel with this employye - but they do travel - on their own - 2-3 times a year or more.

i laugh at the assumptions idiots like nocarrier make - sad really.

i wonder if anyone in his life cared enough about him to give him anything this time of year

Yes, my 6 year old daughter is giving me a gift she made at school and my 18 months old son is too young to give him a gift, but his presence and his love is like a billion gifts.

Between the two, I'd rather receive nothing and enjoy spending time with my kids than receive stupid idiotic gifts like luggage.

Where I come from, its very insulting to refuse a gift from someone.

People these days are greedy and selfish and forget that its not the gift, its the thought that counts. They should be happy that you think enough of them to give them a gift in the first place, and graciously accept it. If they dont like it, they can always take it to the store and exchange it for something else.

I would not be offended if someone I gave a gift to exchanged it for something else, but I would be offended if they outright refused it.

Instead of being hurt or offended when someone does not want your gift, you should appreciate his/her honesty.

You have sick gay fantasies. But I only prefer girls sorry.

But since you seem to like it with men, don't be shy, you should ask Sleazydream yourself. I am sure he'll say yes.

Does this same employee give back their salary to you as well? If not...

On a physiological level this means "hey, ill take everything from you that I can get, and give you back the crap I don't want"

Imagine when this employee applies that same logic to sensitive infomation about your business.

This shows their true loyalty to you is either very low, or that they don't respect you enough, or that they know you're a pushover. All comes back to respect really.

You don't want a dis-respectful employee regardless of how hot good looking they may be. If this is the case, you would be smart to "re-distribute" them ASAP.
The last thing you want is for them, or other employees to think they can push you around.

So, if the "gift giver" was giving zero thought to the actual gift(s) and was just using award points from some affiliate program that they were never going to use anyway?

Then, can you just say, "No, thank you."????

Erm, that's the whole point - the person who originally gave you the gift doesn't know you actually put the gift to good use

What else do you do with a gift you don't want/need? Mine either go to charity (the marble candlestick holders that weigh about 10 pounds each) or I regift (someone gave me a sterling silver dachshund charm necklace, my Mom has a dachshund so I regifted to her) or it sits there doing absolutely no one any good - I'd rather someone get some use out of it

Well, I cant speak for Sleazy, dont know him and never met him. But I can say that if I think of someone highly enough to give them a gift, I'm also going to put some thought into the gift to. I dont know if Sleazy did that or not (I didnt read every post in the thread) but I would be hurt and offended if I gave a gift to someone and they didnt accept it.

If they had no one else to give it to, then perhaps they would've just thrown it away. So instead, they're thinking, I'll give it back to him so he can return it and at least get his money back.

I definitely dont. I have 2 - 3 luggage bags and that's all I ever use. Why would I need more luggage bags? They're quite bulky.

Although I promised your mother I wouldn't tell you, she was offended by that crap gift. She discovered that it wasn't sterling and that it wasn't originally meant for her.

Why would someone give you a silver colored dachshund anyway? What kind of gift is that? Why were you not offended at their thoughtlessness?
