:2cents Soctt Peterson will never be executed....He will just do life in prison.

Ramirez (the nightstalker), the Mendez brothers, and 600 other serial killers, monsters and murders have been sitting on death row in CA for up to 25+ years.....

Peterson's lawyers are already cranking up the appeals. He will probably DIE OF OLD AGE rather than lethal injection. Frankly, it's a pretty good deal to be sentenced to death in California. You get to have your own cell, BETTER food, BETTER access to books, TV, etc....

Hell, Ramirez, 10 years after killing bunches of women, was even allowed to GET MARRIED to some wacky chic, and then have conjigal visits! He is still there now after 20 years.

Meanwhile all you people in Cali are paying for it.

Luckily for us, the US is a democracy, and the people of each state get to vote whether of not to have the death penalty.

Whenever the question comes up here in florida, the death penalty passes with a BIG margin

Death penalty should be carried out behind the courthouse after the trial is over.

Actually, they just passed a new law in Texas that,

if there were 3 confirmed eye-witnesses to the murder that you are convicted of,

then some of the appeals process is removed and you are executed within one year.

I don't agree with the death penalty. I'd rather see them rot in jail while being punished by his cellmates. The death penalty isn't cruel enough for horrible crimes that people commit. Add to that the fact that the death penalty costs taxpayers more money than a life sentence and I really see no point.

The death penalty is more of societies vision of vengeance than an actual penalty.

Sorry, it wasn't a Lie, it was an error.

I apologize for getting it wrong. Now that you've shown your weighty powers of debate by jumping into personal insults to a person that you DON'T EVEN KNOW..... would you like to address the REST of the issue? Don't YOU have a problem with the way that Ramirez is living considering all of the young women whose lives he wiped out?

Please attempt an answer based on logic, not insults. Try not to act like an adolecent idiot.....I would submit that it doesn't make you look good.

I agree that the way it is set up now, it IS WAY too expensive. We definitely need to have a way to make the system less expensive and more efficient.

For example (though this doesn't have to do with the death penalty itself), I like the way that they set up prison in Maricopa county AZ. There is NO Cable TV, NO Gym, NO video games, NO Porn, NO cigarettes, crappy clothes, cheap food, etc....

Is that a test they're doing or has it proven to work already?

I'm not keen on giving prisoners all kinds of "cool stuff", but at the same time I do think prisoners need some "things" to remain sane and hopefully find their way back into society as a better person. No gym is pretty harsh and seems counter-active. I can only imagine what kind of health issues, both mental and physical, something like that could cause. I see nothing wrong with allowing prisoners to exercise, read, watch the news, things of that nature... PRODUCTIVE things. Porn, no. Video games, no. Cable, no.

You do need to keep in mind that these people will most likely get out of prison someday. I'd rather them be mentally sane then not.

for the record ,it is a myth that life in prison is more expensive than the death penalty

it is much more cheaper for the taxpayer to have someone for life in prison than have him executed the legal way

of course just putting a bullet in his head would only cost $3 for the bullet assuming the police has weapons anyways ,

do some research and find out that life in prison is much cheaper than the death penalty

It's not a test, it has been in place for well over 10 years now.

As for the gym, have you seen how BIG the guys are that have spent years in prison lifting weights? They go in as criminals, but they come out as HUGE SUPER CRIMINALS. (potentially, anyway )

I don't believe in the death penalty any longer either though in some instances I almost give in to the temptation because of the brutality of a crime.

If somebody is sentenced to life in prison, I agree, lets cut out all the extraneous expenses. The gym? No. Cable TV? No. Steaks? No, how about bread instead.

And considering the "Death Penalty" is actually more expensive than life imprisonment with appeals and legal bs that goes on for decades.

A few of us have already stated that. And yes, you're right. The legal processes involved with the death penalty are extremely expensive, costing over $1.5M. While life in prison, based on the average prison stay of lifers is about half that.

Why do you keep saying it was an 'error'? What kind of error, a typing error? You were attempting to make the argument that death row inmates,in your words, "Frankly, it's a pretty good deal to be sentenced to death in California" and then said "Hell, Ramirez, 10 years after killing bunches of women, was even allowed to GET MARRIED to some wacky chic, and then have conjigal visits!" Either you don't know what you're talking about or you intentionally lied. Which is it?

Sure, I have. But I also know that no exercise can make people go crazy and cause serious health issues, which we end up paying for.

So ease up on the weights. I don't see anything wrong with a couple games of basketball a week?

So why would you call me a prick? Do you know me? Do you have any idea what I'm all about, my background, my actions, my character?
What part of the debate process would THAT be?

Nope, don't know you personally, but it irritates the hell out of me when people such as yourself spread bullshit that isnt true to support the death penalty, or to push for faster executions. There have been many innocent people executed in this country, and the death penalty has done nothing but send a message to society that a life is disposable. It does not deter murder, it in fact creates murder. States that do not have a death penalty have a much lower murder rate than states who are gung ho over it such as Texas. Conditions on death row are not better than general prison, they are locked in a small cell 23 hours a day with lights kept on 24 hours a day and 24 hours of constant surveillance. Now, if that sounds like a good deal to you, then by all means I'm sure you can find a way to get there.

Lawyers and the judicial system reap the millions in tax dollars as a result of this bureaucratic process. I don't expect it to change anytime soon.

I heard on radio this morning there are 632 inmates in front of him. He will likely die in prison. In the end, it will end up costing the state $4.5 million which includes the court processes, etc.

I find many opinions to be quite annoying. I assume from the tone of your response that you on the left end of the spectrum. There have been MANY times when I have seen untruths, half-truths, and total pie-in-the-sky ideas spread as "facts" on behalf of the left.
This can drive me CRAZY, but I realize, as a mature person, that calling people names that I have never even met only shows ignorance and a lack of control which tend to negate my point of view.

When I insult someone it is because of their actions or their character.... not their opinion.

Just a thought.

I think that it is such a high profile case they will have pressure to kill him! Although the Night Stalker is still waiting after 18 years!

I think they will kill him, but he will be in his 50's at least!

How would you know? Seems your truth comes from friends that are as uninformed as you are. Thats the difference between the left and the right, the left gets their information from facts while the right gets their information from agenda driven propaganda based lies. Ironic since the right is comprised of Christians, seems they don't read the good book as often as they preach.

"Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord." Prov 12:22

"He that speaks that which he knows, shows forth justice; but he that lies, is a deceitful witness."
Prov 12:17

"A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape." Prov 19:5

"OUTSIDE ARE THE DOGS, AND THE SORCERERS, AND THE FORNICATORS, AND THE MURDERERS, AND THE IDOLATERS, AND EVERYONE WHO LOVES AND PRACTICES FALSEHOOD."
Rev 22:15

It is not a prison...Sly...it is a tent city County Jail. Usually a max sentence for Couty Jail is no more than 1 year. They also have a chain gang there and it is actually a previlige to get to work on the chain gang. As for the food there they spend more per day to feed the guard dogs than they do the inmates. The County Sheriff likes to feed them green bloney. One strange thing is...the inmates are made to wear pink underwear...when the sheriff was asked...why pink underwear...his answer was..."Because they don't like it". I do not know what the recitivism rate is for the county...but I suspect it is below the norm for other counties.

WOW....you really are THAT blind aren't you. I guess that you must only get your information from sources that you already agree with, huh? The left only gets their info from FACTS?

Here is an interesting piece of history for you guys

A former Navy machinist, Prince terrorised San Diego, California, stabbing six women to death and provoking the largest police manhunt in the city's history. His crime spree spanned from 1990 to his capture in 1991 and included numerous burglaries, one rape and six murders. Unlike most serial killers, Prince killed women outside his race. He was linked to several of the deaths by DNA evidence and jewellery in his possession that belonged to his victims. He also gave his girlfriend a rare opal ring for Christmas that belonged to his second victim.

FBI experts were called in by the prosecution to find a common thread in all the killings. The signature that connected all slayings was circles of blood smeared on all the victim's breasts.

Some of the victims were stabbed up to fifty times. Prince bragged to a friend about "doing a mother and her daughter," (his last two victims) and took to wearing the mother's wedding ring on a chain around his neck. Usually Prince stalked and followed the unlucky women to their homes. There he would break in, take a knife from the kitchen and attack the women. In 1993 a jury found Prince guilty of six counts of first-degree murder, 20 counts of burglary and one count of rape.

MEANWHILE..... he is still sitting on death row, and he even is on a website with the following entry...

CLEOPHUS PRINCE JR. "Stop!" "Stop!" "Stop!" "Stop!" "Stop!" Now that I have your attention, you might as well continue reading and be pleasantly surprised ! My name is Cleophus Prince "Jr" and I'm an intelligent open minded, compassionate, and caring soul who is looking for someone to brighten a fella's day with a letter or whatever. Being that life here is as exciting as watching paint dry, I'm really hoping that by the time you finish reading this your interest has been piqued enough to want to respond. If you do I'm sure you'll have the time of your life ! (wanna bet?) Let me tell you a little about myself, I'm 32 years old, 5'10, 185 lbs. I enjoy working out, reading, poetry, music, watching TV, and meeting new people. What am I looking for? Someone I can share my thoughts, feelings, and experience with, in other words a friend. If this is something you're willing to give a try contact me.

Cleophus Prince Jr.
PO Box H99600 / 4EY5
San Quentin State Prison
San Quentin, CA
94974 USA

PLUS, California has apparently reversed a law that previously prevented serial killers from profiting through books, films, etc..... So these guys can actually make MONEY from this stuff. Amazing, isn't it?

He'll probably end up on death row at San Quentin...

If this is the case, the pretty boy may wish they'd hurry up and pop in the needle....

San Quentin's death row is not a fun place and he'll have a hard time surviving it..

I agree. I personally believe we should take all the murderers and air drop them into North Korea.
