Everyday seems excessive. I mean, what percentage of the membes actually visit the site every single day? I could see where everyday might be feasible if you were running a single girl site, but for a paysite with a new model every update? I wouldn't every day. I would schedule updates to make sure that people buying trials sees that it is updated. I.e. if you have 3 day trials but only update once a week they wont see its updated and may not rebill. Just my

Well its not like the previous updates get removed. If the person doesn't login for a week then they'll have a shitload of updates from the whole week and be pretty happy. My paysites members areas have a huge traffic spike @ 12 when we update. It apears 10% of members login every day to see the new updates. What I did is 3 picture sets then a movie, so bassicly 5 picture sets and 2 move updates every week. Its not that much if you lay it out like that.Comment

If you are not doing trials you can update 3 times a week and keep people happy.
With trials 6 or 7 times a week if you want to keep the conversion from trial to full month up.

They are successful only because of their "power in numbers" affiliate business model. They've got a lot of affiliates sending new sales that make up for a low retention rate.
Such large sites can also make their money in more alternative methods than smaller sites can.
I'd never apply the business ideas behind a large site to a small site. Many of them simply can't be scaled down, and slacking on the members area is one of them.Comment

Videos or sets are around $15 to $40 a pop, I'm not talking about crap that can only be sold on price. So updating 2-3 lots a day is going to cost around $60.
Showing the surfer you update daily, on the tour, will convert how many? Keeping your memebers coming back every day will retain how many more?
So some options to increase income are, give the surfer more, newer and better content or jerk up the traffic to the same site? Doing both is the best option.

Also you have to figure out, updating by how many sets a month will convert/retain members. Assuming you have a good site and a decent membership, two sets a day is 60 sets. Probably at a cost of $1200. That means you only have to retain or convert an extra 50 surfers a month, under 2 a day. As your site grows it takes longer and longer for the members to view it, they keep coming back day after day to see what you have new, they become hooked.
Had a client who was shooting everything himself, he now buys our non-exclusive stuff as well, it makes economic sense. He's buying more and more from us. Also have a client who was exclusively two girl, he's now buying solo sets of the girls in the two girl sets/videos.
Giving members more bang for the buck works.Comment
