A filet mignon in the oven ?? I would never. That deserves a hot grill and a couple hours soaking in marinade.

Google it dude, theres lots of recipes.

Whatever you do, let it rest in it's juices for at least 15 minutes after it's out of the oven. And dont poke it with anything (unless you wrap it in bacon, then poke it with a toothpick to hold the bacon in place before cookin).

Anyway, Oracle Porn eats meat. hehe
Have fun.

Depends on how you like it cooked.. rare, medium rare, medium, etc.

You can pan sear it or oven sear/roast it.

For either you need a heavy frying pan ..a cast iron pan is even better.

To pan sear, you heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in the pan on medium-high heat. Put the steak on the pan, moving it frequently so that it doesn't stick. It'll take 5/6 minutes per side When it is crusty but not charred on the outside, take it off the pan and wrap it in aluminum foil for about 8 minutes.

To oven sear/roast, set your oven to 500 degrees. You need an oven-proof skillet or a cast iron one. Heat the pan in the oven. When the oven is at 500degrees, remove the pan from the oven and put it on the stove top with the burner on high. Put the steak on the hot pan, flip after a minute or so, cook for another minute or so, then put the pan with steak on it back in the hot oven. Roast it in the oven for 3 or 4 minutes, remove it and wrap it in aluminum foil for another 5 minutes to let it rest.

You should start with something easier..

Filet Mignon is too complicated for your cooking skill level.

Sure ya can. Just consider your broiler a upside down grill.

Since everyone is telling you what not to do and not answering the question I will.

You will need: A heavy frying pan that is oven safe (no plastic handles), your chunk of meat, brown sugar, dry steak seasoning (your choice of brand or make your own), small bowl, and tongs.

First turn on your broiler and raise the rack to the highest level (possible one down, you will want meat 3-4 inches from flame).
Next put pan on stove and turn on high. (leave it)
In bowl mix brown sugar and steak seasoning at a 2-1 ratio (every tablespoon of seasoning add 2 tablespoons brown sugar).
When your frying pan is hot as hell, coat and press in sugar mixture all around your steak, then place it on one side into hot pan. Let sit for about 3 minutes without touching it. Using your tongs turn the meat over on its other side and place pan under broiler. About 7 minutes for medium rare.

Try just throwing that bad boy on yhe grill..

Turn on the grill. sprinkle kosher salt on the beef.

Place a metal pan of water on the grill on the lower level, and then throw on the beef.

Cook to desired temp, and serve!

Either take a blend of black pepper, salt, garlic powder, a little tenderizer, and some onion powder, and rub some on the steak and refrigerate for a few hours, throw it on the grill (Do not cook too fast) (and not the oven!!)

Or marinade for a few hours in some red wine with a splash of olive oil and worcestershire sauce, and grill.

wrap the filet in bacon....take out a large skillet, add truffle oil, 1 chopped shallot, and saute on medium - medium high till transparent. Add 2 - 5 chopped cloves of garlic, and add the filet. You want to sear the filet on both sides. Remove filet and set aside. Add 1 cup of red wine and deglaze the pan. Add chopped portobello mushrooms, and bring to a soft boil. Add filet back to pan, and place in broiler for 10 - 15 mins. Remove from brolier and plate the filet. Drizzle with truffle oil and enjoy.

in an oven? you wrap it in bacon, baste it with butter and cook it to medium rare. little salt, little more butter on top before you eat and you're ready to go.

He does not own a grill, he is asking how to cook a steak. What in the living hell makes you even grasp the notion he would have portobello mushrooms, shallots, or truffle oil? Hell I would reason to bet that he may not even know what a shallot is let alone what truffle oil is.

I use either my out door BBQ grill or if I'm lazy I use the gorge foreman grill. Add some bulls eye bbq, onions, lemon juice, some spices and I'm good to go.

here's mine . . . .

marinade your mignon overnight, put some spices on it...
oyster sauce, minced garlic, garlic powder, hot sauce, barbecue sauce, li'l mustard pepper and salt, plus juice of lemons . .. .. soak it put it in a fridge . . .. .

after an overnight soaking . . . preheat the oven for 500 deg. , pinch those mignon and rub the marinade all over the slice . .. . then get a pyrex pour an olive oil to the pan. brushed the marinade both sides add some spice you want . . . . . . cover it with an aluminum foil........ put the pan on, after 20 mins, roll over the other side of it and brushed the remaining juices, but be sure you're still covering it with the foil, ok..... and then after another 20 mins.. take off the foil and exposed it still inside the oven for another 10 mins so it would be more colorful and tasty . . . . .

so after that, heat up your sizzling plate and then pour some sauce in it and place your steak . . .walla . . . . .

im hungry now . . . .

I'm not, it's very good! I love Kraft dinner.

I was just trying to help the poor guy.

Although I'm pretty sure he would also need "how to boil water" recipes.

OMG - NEVER MARINADE a filet.

Marinade is used on crappy meats like london broil to help break down the tougher meat.

Juse cut the filets into 2-3" pieces,,,wrap em in bacon,,,add your seasonings,,,freshly ground sea salt is my fav,,,,then throw em on the grill.

If you gonna cook in the oven,,,broil them

Thats Pretty much Bang On. Another great thing is to Stick Some Herbed Goat Cheese on top about 2-3 mins beofre taking it out of the oven. It ia Heaven on a Plate!!! Or you could always Get Some nice fois Gras for on top. Mmmmmmm..... Fois Gras
