Started on Atkins diet today...

For breakfast I had 5 eggs, 4 steaks Tartar, a pack of cheese and a salami. Somehow I doubt that this "diet" works but hey I'll give it a shot and my fatso guts is loving it

Gotta lose like 5-10 kilos (11-22 lbs)

Whoa dude! It's one thing to limit carbs..but it's another to overkill on total calories!

Atkins doesn't give you license to eat all you want of certain types of food. It just asks you to LIMIT the amount of carbs you intake..especially during the first 2-3 weeks of the diet, so your body will start burning fat instead of carbs.

So make it 2-3 eggs max & maybe ONE steak tartar for breakfast. Eat sensibly..and remember to try and keep your carb intake to or under 20 grams daily for the first 2-3 weeks.

Good luck on the diet!

Actually..what you posted is another one of those "urban myths".
#1..you do not eliminate carbs. For the first 2-3 weeks, you try to limit your carb intake fairly dramatically to get your system into burning up fat instead of carbs. But you still eat carbs. But you try and eat HEALTHY carbs..not starchy stuff like potatos and bread.

Asaparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans are some good examples of healthy carbs.

And another myth..is that you can only eat meat...no, you can eat fish, nuts, cheese, etc..those things high in PROTEIN and low in carbs.

Crucial to drink lots of water. Not only does it help kill the old appetite (or at least supprese it), it helps keep the kidneys healthy.

low carbs high proteins. gotta fuckin love it. i just eat about 5 pounds of good red meat cut a day. 3 eggs and 4 slices of bacon, etc... and im still skinny... it's gotta work!

Been on it since 3/03..and lost 45 pounds in 6 months and have kept it off. And I never go to bed hungry nor deprive myself of treats and goodies too.

What type of bacon do you eat? Free range?

My endocrinologist really supports me in this diet (I'm a type II diabetic) but told me to stay away from bacon. Besides the high fat concentration, it has..umm..my tired mind can't think of the scientific name for it..but "bad stuff" (haha) that's very bad for the body. Unless it's free range that is.

Hormel Black Label is always my favorite cut, followed by the organic free range. Hormel has always just been an excelent cut of bacon.

Atkins, like other Ketogenic diets, will put your body into Ketosis if done correctly (body uses fat as fuel instead of carbs).

What most people don't understand is that going on a diet like this is a LIFESTYLE change. You have to keep doing it forever for if you stop, your body will go out of Ketosis and you will gain weight fast.

my mom and sister both used Atkins and have lost about 100lbs each. it definitely works. but you can't go back to eating normally...it is an eating change that you must keep for the rest of your life. otherwise the pounds just pour back on. Good luck!

im not on the atkins diet.. i have always had an excuciatingly high meat intake. if i was on atkins i probably shouldnt have a double serving of hash browns either. im 5'10" 145 pounds without working out, and i jump up to 175 when working out after 2 months... so im keeping myself stable

hahah, ive never had to try a diet and always avoided a coke habbit... however I find comfort in a steady diet of a shitload of good red meat, and dark beer. Now if this is gonna kill me sooner then my overactive metabolism... then bring it... just let me die with a medium rare porterhouse in my mouth

Good luck with the diet, just make sure you eat sensible portions.

As long as you're careful with what you eat once you come off it you won't put the weight back on.

what ever happened to exercise and eating healthy???

I understand that it's too late for some ppl but it truly is a lifestyle choice. lots of cardio and water will help u lose weight alot faster...

people automatically think that starting a diet and changing their eating habits is all they need to do but without exercise all that excess skin just hangs and sags...u need to turn that fat into muscle as well...
