Microsoft helping fight against Acacia?

I've said before that I think big business is working against Acacia behind the scenes. The attorneys for HomeGrown.. Fish & Richardson just defeated a patent for one of their clients Microsoft. http://www.fr.com/news/articledetail.cfm?articleid=263 I think it would be strange for Microsoft & Homegrown to have the same patent attorneys and not have Microsoft support Homegrown in defeating Acacia .. don't you? Imagine the detailed documentation Microsoft has got to have for video over networks prior art. Don't you think Microsoft would see Acacia as a future threat and help squash it now instead of later? I think so.

More info on cases Fish & Richardson have won: http://www.fr.com/ ( including defeating Phillips multi-billion dollar patent portfolio )

I think we're in safe hands thanks to HomeGrown, their fellow litigants, FTP, and all who have helped search for prior art.

I tend to agree, these are not amateur lawyers that IMPA is using.

I agree. But knowing that Microsoft is involved now. Acacia CANNOT afford to battle Microsoft.. maybe that's why they've sent out all these letters? A last ditch effort to snag some $$$ before it's too late?

These guys were voted number one patent attorneys in the U.S. for the third year in a row!

We are in safe hands thanks to the good judgement of HomeGrown! Though we are not out of the woods yet.

Sigh.

"Don't you think Microsoft would see Acacia as a future threat and help squash it now instead of later? I think so."

You do not think Microsoft never gave thought to patenting Streaming video technology before Aca company was even a piss spot of a thought?

Believe this. Microsoft most certainly put some thought into Patenting the technology then probably realised they couldnt then decided it better option to make the best technology in streaming video applications and concepts to further is validity as the dominant force it has today.

Remember Microsoft's history is filled with acquisitions in patents and battles regarding patents to gain ground at every corner.

If you understand how evil works...

Microsoft has nothing to loose by either supporting nor objecting, there is no motive for them to act.
The potential value of this is profound and for it to be dropped in a single package only makes a better target for the whales in the sea. The best thing to count on is that this "Patent" issue embroil in courts for many many years till there is no winner on either side or end with a quick swing in our favor.

Dude I'm not here to convince you. I'm giving you valuable information. If you don't want to "believe" it or deny it that's fine.

So you see no benefit for M$ to help fight Acacia? Funny how pessimism is such a kneejerk reaction. There are so many benefits to fight Acacia on a business level that it would be stupid not to. Especially when Acacia has a record for going after major corporations on patent infringement and tying them up in litiagation ( 8 years for V-Chip ) M$ is helping to cut Acacia off at the knees before they go after M$ in the future. I can't believe you don't see that.

I would never believe it till M$ says they are.
Or are not. And that would be very stupid for them to say anything "officially" at this point .

That is not M$'s Modus Operandi. M$'s Modus Operandi is opportunity and either way they win whether our industry wins or looses. Think about that.

Alien.. so do they want to win spending more money and time ... or spending less money and time? Every companies bottom line is an issue. Especially M$. The last thing they need for the shareholders is another costly patent lawsuit.

M$ would just buy em out and set us up with the same prospect of liscensing, ya goto consider on the same token what is at stake on the table. Whats at stake is huge. The larger the pot the less trust surrounds it. It's a poker table and everyone got to play with thier best poker face. I would never paint M$ as some potential savior, but rather something insidious and calculating.

VERY big if... but IF they are, unlike too many in THIS industry, they know when to keep their mouths shut about what they are doing. Gates would no doubt try to wrangle some $$ out of it given half a chance and they did a thing to help.

Here is another thing to think about that might help ya rest easier.

Assume M$ already researched a Streaming Video Patent and concluded it was one of the options below.

A: Bad press.
B: Very expensive and put on ice.
C: Not feasible as exhisting prior art makes it a none option.

A: Is the human factor and holds little weight in a final decision.

B: The pursuit of enforcing a patent would overbear the company on to many fronts but not entirely ruled out of the question. Thus a viable option with no subtance is not worth pursuit till a possiblility comes in a bundled and tangible prospect.

C: Is the most comforting obviously.

So...
Why the silence from companies like Real Networks, Microsoft etc?
Its a spooky silence if ya ask me.

NOTE: If C is a truth then I would think information would already be on hand. Maybe it is, and so we shall see when the first batter is up in court.

This is what I get for informing people.. some guy that wont believe anything until Bill Gates and Far-L have dinner. Whatever man. You are in your own world.

"You are in your own world."

Arent we all?
I aint trying to sandbag your information nor say it is untrue.
However sugar coating this thing and attempting to ease peoples minds about the issue with "Hope" will only put peoples guard down.

Just so everyone is aware... ACACIA does read this board day-in and day-out so I recommend you stop posting stuff about them because it is only going to prepare them when that big court day finally comes.

On April 29th, 1975, at the age of 19, Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft) was arrested by the Albuquerque Police department (arrest record #52090). The charges were speeding and driving without a license. It was the first of three arrests in the late seventies by Albuquerque Police.

Can you see a GFY'er during his deposition.

Female Lawyer: So Mr. Juicylinks how long have you been using video streams on your sites?

Juicylinks: Go Fuck Yourself

Female Lawyer: Excuse me?

Juicylinks: Have you ever sucked a Guido's cock?

Lawyer: I beg your pardon.

Juicylinks: Look bitch just get down on your knees and lick my fucking balls.

You know.. you're probably right about one thing. . I should stop posting about this. I just get shit from people. Why bother?

Far-L will probably come on here and deny it anyway so Acacia doesn't take it seriously.. like he did about my prior art find. I'm starting to think I'm being setup or something. Being told one thing privately.. then something totally different publicly. Whatever. No sweat off my back.

I'm trying to contribute to this community and have worked my ass off for total strangers here to prove I can contribute something useful and that I'm dedicated. I see a lot of people worried... posting about how this is gonna ruin their lives and not doing anything about it. I am. Obviously what I have to offer isn't of use to any of you. Go do the footwork yourself.. or don't you care?

Food for thought
What if m$ is just sitting back and waiting to see what happens,
if we win they dont have to worry. If acacia wins they buy them out and add to their portfolio....
What if??????

The reason Far-L and others have minimized their posting is because of the case Acacia "conspiracy" suit. What they can post is limited without possibly being used against them.

I see a lot of people stressed out and not knowing what to do.

I feel like letting them know what's going on will help them see the reality of the situation.. and not cave in the the Acacia propaganda machine. The more people that see the Acacia situation for what it is the better for our community. period.

All of this secrecy and behind closed doors crap helps the big guys because they all know what's going on.. they are leaving everyone else here to sweat it out and that's not right.

The more I get shit for posting the truth about this issue the less I want to do it. I don't see anyone else lining up to make a differece, working their ass off for free for you guys!

I wasn't giving you shit at all.. I just think that if ACACIA knows about everything that is discovered it will give them time to make a defense.

Your puprose is good, i'm just not sure it's the best thing to do. I'm sure everyone here appreciates what you are doing, but I think it's something that should be more low-key. This is just my opinion though, and i've been drinking

They only have to pay until the patent is invalidated, then payment stops. Someone who signed with them posted that here. I don't remember where it is. Do your homework..this stuff has all been posted already.

As of today, there are no plans for Bill and I to have dinner. As for tomorrow, who knows? I can not predict the future. Maybe Microsoft and other mainstream entities will help and maybe not. I am not worried about it. Our own community has been phenomenal help thus far. We are REALLY REALLY looking forward to our day in court.

If anyone wants more pespective on Acacia from all sides, call us, call Acacia and decide what is best for your company.

Or are not. And that would be very stupid for them to say anything "officially" at this point .

That is not M$'s Modus Operandi. M$'s Modus Operandi is opportunity and either way they win whether our industry wins or looses. Think about that.
M$ is all about making money and opportunities your right, so waht would stop M$ from partnering with Acacia to venture on something much larger and make use of the patent(s) to M$ benefit?

Now this is a scary thought

when are you people going to get your head out of your ass?

Acacia didn't buy that patent to go against Microsoft!

They will get all the money they can from the little guy like you and then dump the patent on some fool who has no clue what he is buying, thus avoiding the big expensive fight, and making more than thay paid for it (patent).

Their is no money or increase in value to fight the big guys, just pump it up, then dump for a nice profit. These kind of companies never hold anything for long, they just get all they can out of their investment then move on to the next.
