You wouldn't make a boat that wasn't water resistant unless you were trapped in the 18th century or something...boats were sealed with pitch because it repels water.

However, wood would be heavier because it takes more of it to displace the same amount of water that a steel hull displaces, which is how boats float.

Months later the man, having a sudden craving for albatross, went to a restraunt and ordered up a plate. When he took a bite, it did not taste the same. A horrible revelation crept over him. Realizing the albatross on the island was not an albatross, but his dismembered wife, he could not go on living. He then proceeded to pull the gun from his pocket and shot himself in the head.
