When Will the Republicans Move On?

Obamacare passed years ago. Stop trying to stop the government, or refuse to raise debt ceiling or any of these other annual tactics. This is one of many reasons why you keep losing elections.

Just put on the Klan sheets, admit you have a problem with darkie and anything he's trying to accomplish for the next 3 years. Harness you rage of the black man and move on to actually doing something productive for the economy/jobs/citizens to show you deserve to be in power again.

At this rate, it's going to be a long long time before there is another viable Republican candidate for president.

I'll never understand how a person could be a die hard Republican if they are not one or all of the following

1. Wealthy, Very Wealthy.
2. Religious Conservative
3. Extremely Pro Gun
4. Extremely Anti Abortion (see #2)

My feeling is that the Republicans in Congress pretty much ran on stopping ObamaCare.

So they SHOULD be doing everything they can to represent their constituents.

There are lots of laws that have been changed and overturned in history.

Theoretically the Republicans are doing exactly what they should be doing in representing their districts.
Same as Democrats are supposed to be doing.

Of course it's all theory...they are ALL a bunch of crooks filling their pockets.

While I understand that, I often times must concede your point that the politicians no longer really listen to the "citizens" and only lobbying groups. Some examples of this would be issues of gun control, gay marriage, decriminalizing pot, among other issues that despite popular public opinion can't get passed.

That said, what have the Republicans accomplished in 2 terms of the black president? Fought him on everything, stalled government, threaten to crash the economy with debt ceiling, stop the government annually.

Feel free to chime in with that they have actually accomplished for 'the citizens' in the better part of 5-6 years now.

And don't forget that IF people just rolled over and allowed things they considered to be wrong to remain, history would be a lot different. We'd still have slavery for instance.

Or how about the repeal of Prohibition?
When Prohibition was passed...one of it's leading supporters made this comment:
"There is as much chance of repealing the Eighteenth Amendment as there is for a hummingbird to fly to the planet Mars with the Washington Monument tied to its tail"

Well, it took some stubborn Congressmen 13 years and a lot of angry citizens protesting for years...but it WAS repealed.

So no, I don't think that continuing to battle against a program that you genuinely believe is no good is at all a wasted motion.

The Democrat party sure wants people to believe that.

But in reality, they are kind of doing exactly what the opposition party in our form of govt. is supposed to do.

I personally like it when they stay deadlocked.

The last thing I need is MORE laws passed by a bunch of money hungry lifetime politicians in Washington D.C.

Sure, if you are against clean air and water, the internet, healthcare for people who otherwise couldnt get it, strongest economy in history, paying off the national debt, lowest poverty rate in a generation are all bad things then I guess you have a point.

I don't think so. There are many other things this country needs that should be a priority over Obamacare nonsense.

That is exactly what I tried to tell Barrack back in 2009 when people were begging for jobs and he spent the year working on ObamaCare.

He's hardheaded and wouldn't listen to me. Damn President.

While Barefooties has it wrong, the Klan always sided with the Democrats.

The GOP is doing what they promised to do, serve the people that elected them.

Everyone wants universal healthcare, just not that version. The Unions don't even like it.

The DOW took a dip when Bernake stated he was going to start slowing down the printing of money from the current 85 billion a month

Especially LOL at abortion thing. Its like tiny tiny thing that has no relevance compared to bigger issues. Nobody chooses their political views on such a tiny issue as abortion.

I never understood how any quality member of society can be democrat (unless gay or minority) in US. The only bad thing in republican point of view is military spending. And abortion - but again this is such a tiny issue that should not even be mentioned amongst biggest points.

It's wrong to try to reform healthcare, and give more people access to it? It's already starting to show that its going to remove $100 billion from our debt. The narrative Republicans are shoveling about it being the end of our country is bullshit.

Why does it always look like Republicans are on the wrong side of every argument, whether it's gay rights, or whatever? Rick Santorum has a website to stop a UN Treaty that would help disabled people across the world. Could he be any more of an asshole?

Some fucking morons still are fooled by those manipulators.

Then again, some people still believe in God so go figure.

And abortion - but again this is such a tiny issue that should not even be mentioned amongst biggest points.
antiwelfare? Then why is it the biggest leech states are all red?http://www.businessinsider.com/red-s...-queens-2011-8
Anti communism? please tell me how during Obama where the rich have prospered actually more than under Bush is Communist? Or Obamacare which is a kiss to the private insurance companies and the big pharm. Dont believe everything the pundits tell you. Also if it wasnt for democrat funding for the creation of the net(AL gore was on that committee, that's what he meant by created the net). There would be alot more radio shack workers instead of sitting on this board.

1. No it's not wrong to try and reform healthcare. But healthcare prices were never reformed, forcing everybody to buy insurance doesn't address that. Matter of fact, the administration gave the Big Pharma and Medical Corp.'s guarantees at the beginning of the process that they could continue to charge U.S. citizens 4 and 5 times MORE than any other country on Earth.

2. Because they always are.

Who cares what they did in 1956? Their voting base was completely different. Just like the Democrat voting base WAS the South during those years and even into the 1960's.

Bottom line: They were all a bunch of crooked lifetime politicians in 1956 and in 2013...they still are.

Also...keep in mind that neither party follows the Party Platform. It's just there to make dissidents in both parties feel included.

Oh I agree ,they are all crooks bought and paid for. But the system evolved into this, that to run for office you got to be a whore. The last presidential election cost 2.38 billion dollars. You got to suck someones ass hard to get that type of money.

I don't think either party is following any platform

Just some thoughts
Last weekend I went to the Reagan Library. He was a liberal Republican. When he got reelected, only one state didn't vote for him.
They had the Lincoln Exhibit, the first Republican. A lot of what he did would be considered liberal.

All that changed forever with Richard Nixon's "Southern Strategy" :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy
Quote:
In American politics, the Southern strategy refers to a Republican Party strategy of gaining political support for certain candidates in the Southern United States by appealing to racism against African Americans.[1][2][3][4][5]

Though the "Solid South" had been a longtime Democratic Party stronghold due to the Democratic Party's defense of slavery before the American Civil War and segregation for a century thereafter, many white Southern Democrats stopped supporting the party following the civil rights plank of the Democratic campaign in 1948 (triggering the Dixiecrats), the African-American Civil Rights Movement, the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965, and desegregation.

The strategy was first adopted under future Republican President Richard Nixon and Republican Senator Barry Goldwater[6][7] in the late 1960s.[8] The strategy was successful in winning 5 formerly Confederate states in both the 1964 and 1968 presidential elections. It contributed to the electoral realignment of some Southern states to the Republican Party, but at the expense of losing more than 90 percent of black voters to the Democratic Party. As the twentieth century came to a close, the Republican Party began trying to appeal again to black voters, though with little success.[
