Starting in May in order to get the 20% top rated discount off of seller fees you have to not only provide 1 day handling, but you have to have a tracking number entered by the next business day. And you have to offer 14 day returns instead of 3 or 7.

I understand that ebay is having trouble competing with Amazon and they need to improve their sellers service, but punishing them for not meeting higher standards is bullshit. Rewarding with a 25% discount instead of 20% if you meet thier new standards would get more sellers to comply.

Only tried selling one there once before, the Nigerians kept doing buy it now on a laptop and ending the auction causing me to pay to open another one again. After that happened like 3 times in a row I said fuck this shit. I still have a -$26 balance on my account and ebay won't pay me it.

I haven't sold anything on there in a few years. It used to be a breeze and they seemed to be genuinely interested in helping sellers out. Now It seems like they have taken a different turn and are almost trying to weed out the little guys by making it harder and harder for them to make any money.

That is fucked up.

Back when I sold a lot of stuff I didn't have many problems, most of the buyers were cool, but there were a couple that were nightmares. It was nice to be able to leave neutral feedback on them so other sellers might beware.

I had a family friend growing up that until very recently owned a jewelry store at the Ft. Lauderdale Swap Shop, and I remember back in the day the Swap Shop would get raided by the feds every couple months. They would haul out loads and loads of counterfeit goods. Now I heard they were raided recently and the feds were targeting stolen goods, and they busted some huge ring of Easter European criminals that would target eBay in particular. They would buy goods, claim to never receive them, receive a refund, and then sell the goods at the Swap Shop. Then open a new account and rinse and repeat.

There are entire criminal groups targeting eBay like this now. It's a fucking shame because I used to buy and sell tens of thousands of dollars worth of goods on there, including all the overstock novelties from my old porn stores. Now I go there maybe once a year at best...

Luckily I only had a couple of problems with sellers. One was for an older 1970's organ. I put it up on ebay as a local pick up only auction. It weighed a ton so shipping it would cost a fortune. I left feedback explaining what this guy had done, but he never responded it to or me so there never was a dispute other than him being removed from my place by the cops.

I learned my lesson then. Never invite ebayers over.

I used to buy storage units and sell the stuff I found in them. Sold thousands of items over the years, but the fees are so crazy now it isn't worth selling cheaper items. Hell, if you sell something for $5 by the time you pay the ebay and paypal fees you have next to nothing left.

Yeah but thats not the problem. My daughter has only had one dispute and the buyer quickly withdrew it after she pointed out to him that his first email contained a comment about leaving her feedback. (feedback extortion) The problem is buyers holding feedback over you while you have nothing. You have to kiss ass and sometimes loose money just to avoid negative feedback.

Some jerk just left her negative feedback because he didn't read the listing and thought it was something it wasnt. She can do nothing about this even though the listing cleary explains whats in it and anyone looking at it can realize that the buyer is wrong.

Can't do that anymore. You can only leave buyers positive. Also a buyer can leave you feedback if the transaction is not completed, IE a refund before you ship it even if it's at their request. That's just plain stupid.

paypal will always be used for ebay, its the same compnay. If you send out items with delivery confrimation or tracking as a seller you will NEVER ever loose and neither will the buyer. Paypal will side with you and reinburse the buyer out of thier pocket. I see it all the time ;)

Ebay also cans BUYERS just like sellers. If you are a new buyer or have lots of complaints against sellers they will ban you as well. It sucks we can't leave but positive feedback but thats the way it is. Amazon is just the same, you cant leave feedback for buyers at all.

Well we sell alot thier as well and people contact us all the time ;) So must be their somewhere. If you leave a product review for the seller feedback then we can have it removed, its a simple form

Thats a huge differnece between Amazon vs Ebay. Ebay under no circumstance will they remove or edit feedback unless it contains personal info or cursewords and thats hard to get done even some times.

I was looking at amazon to set her up there also, but it apears their fees are easy 50% more than ebays. And at first glance I see several different types of confusing fees.

Ebay is really insane, the sellers fees are crazy plus paypal hits you as well. On top of that you don't get paid unless you provide a tracking number and it's delivered or there is positive feed back. Paypal changes their mind with me every other week on whether or not they will hold my money. What many don't realize is they are getting in some cases a week long interest free loan, that might not seem like much on your 1 item but over a couple of million they are constantly sitting on a cash pile.

Ebay really pissed me off and I refuse to sell there ever again after 10+ years of selling successfully.

I sold a baby playpen, barely used. Packed away totally clean it was hardly touched. Set up the auction really low free shipping and it took off. The asshole who bought it realized for like another $20 they could have gotten the same item new and when they received it made up total lies about the condition of the item.

Ebay didn't require any proof. This person got their money back, my paypal account was debited by ebay into the negative, and the item was returned and now is in bad condition from poor packing and they kept part of it and ebay did NOTHING. I was pretty much scammed by a buyer, and am surprised they even sent it back with the crazy messages they sent me after they received it. They claimed they went to the hospital sick from the mold on the item. LOL

And I called them several times, made threads here about this! I had not been selling much for a while and was totally blown away how hard ebay fucked me over and appealed to this lying piece of shit who fucked me over on my auction.

The item is now sitting in my garage becoming ruined, when if this mother fucker hadn't ran up my auction and regretted it, I might have actually gotten $50 to $100 for it, but they big almost to $200 and the stupid thing is that price new.

NOT MY FAULT. I really don't even see how I would have protected myself in this situation, Ebay totally fucked me dry and hard. Then all of a sudden you owe them money and they threaten you. NEVER AGAIN. lol

edit. yeah... digital goods might be the future of ebay, as this mail shit out and get fucked over isn't working. lol

I started out selling only on Ebay, and moved to Amazon pretty quickly. Now I run 3 listings on Ebay, for an item that no on else is authroized to sell on there, and that is all.

I have a Pro Merchant account on Amazon. I pay $39.99 per month for that. It's worth it, because without it, you can't get the Buy Box, and you really want to have that.

Yeah I noticed prices on amazon are a lot higher than the same item on ebay. So you can print shipping labels from usps right off of amazon just like you can with ebay?

I sell internationally, so I have had a Stamps.com account for a good while. It lets me print first class international postage, and I can't do that from within USPS.com. It's been so long, I am not sure, but at the time, I dont' think I could do it within Paypal.

I pay $17.99 per month for that.

Amazon now ties in to Stamps.com. If you have a stand alone account Stamps.com like I do, you do not pay additional fees on top of the postage cost to use it. You just log in Amazon, print your packing slip for the order, and buy postage at the real cost. Amazon deducts the postage cost amount from the proceeds of your order, so you aren't paying for it upfront.

If you don't have a Stamps.com account, there is some fee per postage purchase, but I can't tell you what it is.

I didn't really investigate it, as I have a stand alone store too, and need the Stamps.com account to print postage for it.

Lauderdale Swap Shop, and I remember back in the day the Swap Shop would get raided by the feds every couple months. They would haul out loads and loads of counterfeit goods. Now I heard they were raided recently and the feds were targeting stolen goods, and they busted some huge ring of Easter European criminals that would target eBay in particular. They would buy goods, claim to never receive them, receive a refund, and then sell the goods at the Swap Shop. Then open a new account and rinse and repeat. There are entire criminal groups targeting eBay like this now. It's a fucking shame because I used to buy and sell tens of thousands of dollars worth of goods on there, including all the overstock novelties from my old porn stores. If you send out items with delivery confrimation or tracking as a seller you will NEVER ever loose and neither will the buyer. Paypal will side with you and reinburse the buyer out of thier pocket. I see it all the time ;) Ebay also cans BUYERS just like sellers. If you are a new buyer or have lots of complaints against sellers they will ban you as well. It sucks we can't leave but positive feedback but thats the way it is. Amazon is just the same, you cant leave feedback for buyers at all.

On top of that you don't get paid unless you provide a tracking number and it's delivered or there is positive feed back. Paypal changes their mind with me every other week on whether or not they will hold my money. I sold a baby playpen, barely used. Packed away totally clean it was hardly touched. Set up the auction really low free shipping and it took off. The asshole who bought it realized for like another $20 they could have gotten the same item new and when they received it made up total lies about the condition of the item. Ebay didn't require any proof. This person got their money back, my paypal account was debited by ebay into the negative, and the item was returned and now is in bad condition from poor packing and they kept part of it and ebay did NOTHING. I was pretty much scammed by a buyer, and am surprised they even sent it back with the crazy messages they sent me after they received it. They claimed they went to the hospital sick from the mold on the item. LOL And I called them several times, made threads here about this! I had not been selling much for a while and was totally blown away how hard ebay fucked me over and appealed to this lying piece of shit who fucked me over on my auction. The item is now sitting in my garage becoming ruined, when if this mother fucker hadn't ran up my auction and regretted it, I might have actually gotten $50 to $100 for it, but they big almost to $200 and the stupid thing is that price new. NOT MY FAULT. I really don't even see how I would have protected myself in this situation, Ebay totally fucked me dry and hard. Then all of a sudden you owe them money and they threaten you. NEVER AGAIN. lol edit. yeah... digital goods might be the future of ebay, as this mail shit out and get fucked over isn't working. lol
