So someone bought a set of old content from Paul's bargain basement for $9.99 so while his wife is at work supporting his ass he runs to GFY and posts about it. What a joy retirement must be.

Fuck my life???????

I'm happily retired, with enough money to see me through to the end of my days. I live in our nice 3 bedroom house in a sleepy little village in Czech, which is where I choose to live because I love it here. Not for any other reason, we could move back to the UK, but our standard of living would come crashing down and England holds nothing for me. We own the house, lock stock and barrel. come over and see the deeds.

I have a wife who loves me, a daughter who loves me and a dog who I'm not sure about but he does follow me everywhere I go.

I watched Eva recover from an accident that should of killed her, beat very advanced cancer that should of killed me. After 2 years of really being out of working, both recovering and looking after me. She's happy to go back to work and have something that challenges her.

I've had a career that most of you would of loved to have. While you sit there punching a keyboard I was taking pictures and movies of naked girls doing wonderful things to themselves and getting paid well to do it.

After getting rid of the studio and staff, stopping shooting, the sites still bring in money, that we can add to our small pile. In a business where most of you wouldn't last 3 months after what happened to us, that's pretty good. Don't you think?

I have, the money we didn't blow on boys toys and mortgages like so many, my private pensions and State invalid benefits. Don't tell me I'm a parasite, I paid for every penny I'm getting now many times over.

I'm now scanning stuff from 25 years ago. Nice because I can see how I progressed as a shooter, remember some great days and brings home how much I grew.

The downsides to my life are. My saliva glands are fucked and will never recover. My strength and stamina is pretty poor, the Manwin shoot proved to me I will never come back to shooting. Whether I want to or not. I'm physically not capable.

I'm truly pissed that people like you turned what should of been the new dawn of porn, into it's dusk. As far as making money. You online guys missed the opportunity of a lifetime. Few have the chances you did to make billions. You fucked up.

If 1-100 buy. 99 don't. 99 lost customers. If 1-1,000 buy, 999 don't buy. If the reason they don't buy is the amount of free porn online, legit free porn. Or the lack of will to join the site, the fix isn't throwing more traffic at it. But for 10 years and more, that's the only fix many of you could think of.

And you put the growing traffic down to all the people wanting the free porn. did you really think those who would buy or were remotely interested in porn wouldn't come anyway? If you did, you don't understand marketing porn online, offline or any bloody way you can imagine. Men like looking at porn, they will look at porn given the chance, by supplying them with millions of free galleries you diminish their need to buy the product.

This was something people knew a decade ago. People were saying that too much content in a gallery was hurting sales. But if one gallery had 10 pictures in, the archives had 10,000 other galleries. Today the problem is the same it was then. Just got worse because you kept thinking more traffic = more sales. And used the most stupid excuses possible to back that claim.

No traffic no sales = But use content to get traffic.

They can sell water and water's free. = If you live with your Mum it is, otherwise you pay for water out the tap.

They give away free samples in supermarkets. = They don't give away a crate of them.

MacDonalds can sell crap burgers = Not by giving them away for free.

Yes I'm pissed that idiots turned what should of been a business that was thriving into a business that can nearly see it's end. Unless you give away porn to sell ad space.

Seriously though Damian and please don't ignore this. Where will you be working in 5 years time? Still in your living room or your Mum's living room or where?

Don't worry about my life, it's fine.
Fuck your life seriously must suck, you spend so much time on GFY, posting shit no one reads.

I actually feel sorry for you

Then again, not everyone coming in the door bought the best magazine either, but chances are they looked at it - it sold more due to exposure, and took from others... oh wait, just like today....
Your post made me think about the way my local adult store used to conduct their business.

It was a very large store that sold everything adult related. They had a huge magazine section with something for everyone. They had a room in the back where employees shrink wrapped every single magazine before it was put out on the shelf. There was no browsing through magazines. You bought the magazine because of the cover and or the reputation of that magazine. Shoppers were carefully monitored and anyone tearing open a shrink wrap was ejected from the store. They did huge business, had two cashiers and there was always a line to pay for your items.

On the flip side there is a Books a Million in the mall that also has a huge mainstream magazine section. They however do not shrink wrap their magazines so people are able to pick them up and look through them. They even take it a step further and provide chairs and sofas so people can sit down and be comfortable while they read the magazines. You go there on a Saturday afternoon and there will be upwards of 20 people looking through magazines. You could sit there and read all you want of your favorite magazines without spending a dime. There is no line at the register and hardly anyone actually buys the magazine. No reason to since they got to view it for free.

Two different ways of selling magazines and it appears that by protecting their merchandise the adult book store sold far more magazines than the Mall book store that let their customers use the magazines for free.

Here's something Paul constantly forgets about:

(I am no "kid". I've been around porn for 25+ years now. Oh - and for Penthouse, Hustler and Screw, name brands.)

I'm tired of hearing from you Paul how "1 in a 100 buy, leaving 99 that didn't therefore you online guys are loser idiots...." (paraphrasing here).

PAUL: How many people went into an old school XXX video store, looked around at all the titles, then LEFT WITHOUT BUYING A THING?

How many people Paul would go to a newsstand, stand there, flip through countless porn mags (admiring your unequaled work, no doubt), put the mag down and LEAVE WITHOUT PAYING?

I have a friend who owns a newsstand on the corner of 39th and 5th, here in Manhattan. Has owned it for about 30 years now. He's as old as YOU are Paul! Know what he says? About 1 out of 100 people who stop by his stand to oogle the porn mags buy one. It's been this way for 30 years.

SO PAUL: when you get a "ratio" of 1:100 IT IS THE SAME EXACT THING AS WHEN YOU WERE WORKING IN MAGS. Same ratios.

So this point, which you hammer home non-stop, is NOT an indicater of how bad porn is now, how idiotic we online guys are and can't compare to "shooters" from the Seventies, etc etc. You sound idiotic and old every time you say things like this Paul, and the worst part is it simply is NOT TRUE.

Now go play with your puppy.

The mall one had more customers overall, thus they could do that... naturally a mall would have 10,000's of more possible customers.

As well, not all paysites give away everything, some blur nudity, don't give away free promo material, and so on. That's called business, everyone does it differently.

Thing is... most bookstores that are still here today, do let you browse the books, magazines, etc. Even bookmans has an adult section, little private area for you to check them out. Amazon has free chapters and now more importantly - reviews! I don't buy a book based on it's cover, never have and never will - very few people ever do.

Yes, it's good and great seeing some of the girls I shot back then.

justinsain THat Books store was obviously doing the right thing, giving away the product and making it easy for free loaders is the way to do business. </sarcasm>

Most people in online porn don't have a clue how the business was run and the money taken. They quote Private's figures and think that's it. Even Fabian did it which again shows a huge lack of understanding.

So here's a question for all those who think porn was bigger on the Internet. How many ways did a porn shop and porn production company have of making money?

No long termers please, let the big mouth newbies to porn come up with an answer.

Start a poll Paul. Ask people if they think companies producing porn made more or less money after the internet was invented.

You are the only person who thinks there was more money in porn before the largest ever distribution model appeared.

It's so funny. Just like you are the only person who thinks censorship is good.

If your friend was letting people jerk off while they were leafing through the magazines for free, you would have a point.

If this industry converted 1-100 browsers we would all be making millions a week.

Your posts proves you don't have to do a lot to get men to look at porn. It's bloody easy. And when conversion ratios over all has gone to 1-1,000s of the browsers, we in trouble.

I suspect your friend didn't lat them leaf through the magazines on a NY Street. But what the hell.

What did you do in porn years ago?

You can answer the question I posed.

Less than they do today...

How many ways does a porn company today make money? I bet you can't answer it.

Or rather, how many ways does one company make money vs. another company?

Gota be a few more stupid questions we can ask.... humm.

How many went home and jerked off anyway? How many jerked in the car? How many didn't come to the store and jerked off with what they had? Why do stores have to watch out for people jerking it in the store? Why do they have jerk rooms in some stores, penny views, or flip machines, still today, and way more years ago? Some had girls to look at, little strip clubs inside, free and paid, speaking of, strip clubs give away burgers at lunch - you would think MD's would be out of business.

Can you not contemplate multiple situations/ideals and time, at once to draw a conclusion? Is this how you've looked at business your entire life? That's f'in nuts!

My friend, you have obviously not spent much time on New York City street corners. LOL

Of course they stand there and flip through the mags. They aren't shrink-wrapped (well, the "3 for $9.99" bundles are, but not Barely Legal, Hustler, et al). In fact, when it comes to actual STORES (my friend runs a newsstand on the corner, differant thing) the guys behind the counter tell me they still have "issues" (pun intended, heh) with dudes whacking it in the corner to the mags. Depends on the store, of course, and the neighborhod, but it still happens.

What I did was write interviews, investigative pieces and DVD reviews for the porn mags. This was a side-biz for me because I love sex. LOL Mostly I worked in music and entertainment, but went on a couple porn shoots for Wicked, interviewed Larry Flynt and Al Goldstein, helped Al with some DVD reviews, wrote some funny sex stories for Screw, on and on. Penthouse of the Year parties were always the thing to look forward to back then. LOL

Now I'm a keyboard-pounding monkey. Life eh?

Why? You've asked it before, dozens of times. It has been answered before.

You think the porn market was worth more before the internet because you used to sell to some hotels? This is FUCKING HILARIOUS.

Really Paul.

The thing is, you actually believe it's true. I have no doubt. No wonder you're so bitter and twisted in your old age. You could have *actually* made millions if you had worked out what the internet was back in the day. Sadly, it still confuses and scares you now! I'd be pissed if I was living in a cottage that is so small I was embarrassed to post a pic of what 40 years in porn bought me.

Are you still looking to get a .xxx?

Why? You've asked it before, dozens of times. It has been answered before.

You think the porn market was worth more before the internet because you used to sell to some hotels? This is FUCKING HILARIOUS.
clown. Why not just say you don't know?

The thing is, you actually believe it's true. I have no doubt. No wonder you're so bitter and twisted in your old age. You could have *actually* made millions if you had worked out what the internet was back in the day. Sadly, it still confuses and scares you now! I'd be pissed if I was living in a cottage that is so small I was embarrassed to post a pic of what 40 years in porn bought me.
As you're clueless about what was made in offline porn where are you getting your stats from? Come on, show us proof.

A lot of money was made in online porn, just not by you.

I did work out what the Internet was.we weren't going to risk the offline income to go for a paysite. Nice that you think I could of made millions with our content. OH fuck, I did.

And you have absolutely no clue how much we made, whether we live in a cottage, rented or owned. We all know you live in a dump, rented dump, look like an idiot with your pornbeer and a massive failure promoting your magic shows.

So Damian, what do you think your next career will be?

You keep ignoring me on this so here's a post all on it's own.

But I do remember this one. Fleur was hot and a lot of fun. The naughtiness in her eyes is what makes porn.

Sorry about the quality of the scans.

Paul, you asked the question. I just wanted you to make it an official poll so you could see how no one but you thinks offline porn made more than online.

Stats? There are no public stats. You lied about getting some from Northern and Shell and then were too much of a pussy to admit that when I asked you to post the email you lied about with full headers. Again.Turning into a habit, isn't it? You lie, you get called on it, then you insult the person. :D

But you would have to be really painstakingly stupid to think before the internet porn made more money than after. Really really really stupid.

And here are a couple of videos of her.

Fleur 1

Fleur 2

Sorry about the quality, very old. But it's the way she delivers the scene that gets a guy going. Bit playing to the camera, that's normal, still her personality comes through and she delivers to the audience a personal scene.

Will see if I can find the scene of Fleur getting on on a vibrator.

Paul, you keep saying that the porn being produced today is crap.

Can you specifically point to any porn produced today that, in your opinion, is not crap? Please give links/examples.

I ask this because it's hard for me to see where you are coming from when you say current porn is crap, but have no examples to point to.

Good point.

www.alsscan.com & www./partyhardcore-trial.com & www.ben-dover.com & /www.evilangel.com (if you like high production stuff, were good last time I looked. As was www.perfectgonzo.com before they lost their shooter to Evil Angel.

I like FTV, Lady Sonia, some of Sapphics stuff and I'm sure there's more.

Brazzers has some good stuff in, I just feel let down that a company with, so we're told, power and money. Can't do a lot better. Some of their scenes I reviewed were good and some were bloody awful. Which was agreed by other shooters.

You can add www.vivthomas.com to that list as well.

Today it's far tougher to produce great porn. The budgets are slim, many of the shooters lack real experience, models seem a lot more bolshy and very fake plus finding a new fresh one is tough and too much is churned out on a conveyor belt system.

Better cameras, don't equal better porn.

Most of those I quoted have a DVD income as well as online. However if online is the King of porn.

Why have so few online companies employed or partnered properly with these guys. Who has a stable of shooters like Evil Angel. Who employs an in house shooter of the level of Viv Thomas, Ben Dover, etc?

My experience talking to the biggest of programs is the moment is gets to content, they don't seem so rich. Cutting corners and costs seem to be the order of the day. Lensman once told me he thought $500 a shooting day for a shooter was a good wage. I told him for $500 a day he won't get a good shooter. They could then earn far more elsewhere.

We could earn far more than $500 a day, 5 days a week, so we were outside the budget of anyone I ever spoke to. And $500 a day is only $125,000 a year. By no means a good or even great income. Now all the trolls can jump in and tell me I didn't earn $50 a day. Not that they have a clue.

So, did it harm online porn is the question? I can think of many ways.

The problem is in the knowledge of online porn with porn itself. No one so far has answered my questions of the main income sources of a porn shop and a porn producer, prior to the Internet and even today.

And for the record, I'm no where near the level of the guys I named.

That's because you've posted that before and it has been discussed before and, essential, no one cares because the world is laughing so hard at you for actually trying to argue porn as an industry generated more money before the internet took off.

Excluding micro jobs, such as working for a company, etc..
  • Magazines - Full to part rights to secondary, etc.
  • Rights based on type of material (slide, film, etc)
  • Brokering models off.
  • The start of hotel porn.
  • Marketing material rights.
  • Tape/DVD - Porn stores to trade shows to bulk in mags.
  • Direct orders/mail orders, fax orders, etc.
  • Cable Television/Satellite, from direct subscriptions to the start of VoD

Basically all stuff many companies continue to do today... normally managed by one staff member, and would also include online markets today.

I think a list of ways to make money is close enough, really no reason to bust out all the ways a store can make money when your products aren't part of those income streams. If they sold hot dogs, it's an income stream....

What's more important is that 'average' buyer in a porn store didn't make $80-$120 profit for the store... that's what paysites do. Hell even a magazine had to send out for YEARS to make that, at least 3 times longer than a paysite has to - just to make the same money.

Hell, only VoD was hundreds of millions in sales online... it was kinda cake to make $30k-$50k a month from just a few scenes - what did they have in the 80's that did that? TONS of us tapped into this, some made a little, many made a shit ton... that's before $100's - $1000's per 'scene' other sites pay - these still sell like this today.

Most of the list above is still used today, by many people in our Industry. But you have to stack them all together just to cover one staff member and the company make profit.

I don't claim to have millions Paul, you do.

I'm not *trying* to prove to people I am a millionaire. I'm not. Far from it.

You, however, do claim to have made millions from porn, but are too scared to post a pic of your mansion.

We all want to see what millions buys you. So show us what your 35 years of porn bought you. And don't just post the same stupid shot of your street, or you on the couch. We've seen them. Post on of you standing outside the front of this mansion.

Do the maths moron. 34 years in porn, $2 million isn't a lot and over the years I made more than that, a lot more. Seems a lot to you, but what the fuck. You're broke. When did I say I lived in anything but a bedroom detached house. The mansion thing is you continuing to lie. You really must stop lying. Where did I claim to be a millionaire? You must stop lying. I will never post a picture of the front of my house for obvious reasons.

It's a lovely quiet street where kids can play without the fear of being knocked over. Which of those second hand cars belongs to you? Not 1 decent car on the street. People don't have garages where you are.

I'm off to sit in the garden and read a book. Came back just to wind you up, will be back to do some more.

Eva's desk is the more untidy.

What does your wife do for a living?

Back to the garden, bye.

You and your memory!

I wouldn't want to make you ashamed.

My chair alone cost more than all your office furniture put together. Herman Miller ftw.

Your troll game is getting weak. I never said I was a millionaire. Liar you are.

$2m divided by 33 years = $60,606 a year. That in English money so you understand it better is less than £739 a week. Come on troll, that's easy, it's like one set a week into a magazine. Please stop branding yourself as a failure.

Finally getting closer to the truth...now aren't you? You made a living and that is about it. Which means your current wealth has to be pretty minimal and would explain why you once stated that the money your wife earns comes in handy.

The trolling here is getting very very weak.

Private, go read it again.

Dismissed, now go clean the latrines and peel the spuds.

FYI...I have not been on active duty since '92 and I have not been a Private since '80.

Seriously Jel you're not very good at this trolling game are you?

March 2007 who had that much quality traffic?

How does someone get 100k of uniques that will convert at 1-100?

I await your answer.

Getting 100k uniques is dead easy, which is why traffic isn't king. According to Fabian Pornhub has 20 million uniques a day. But conversion ratios are probably up in the 1-10,000 ratios. Not on banner clicks, on actual surfers to sales.

If traffic all converted at the same ratios. No matter how much or how you got it or where you sent it. Then traffic would be king. It doesn't so conversions and retentions are king, because that's what really puts money in our pockets.

The problem is you don't understand that part and all you and many do understand is how to throw more traffic to sites. Traffic that's clearly converting less and less. Now you can tell us you've never done any better and make yourself out to look like a liar.

The increase in revenue in online porn was not due to the free porn being put out. It was due to the increase in people coming online. That growth is over and now the growth is slow in quality traffic and the growth of people soaking up free porn is building.

There's never been so much online porn traffic and so little buying. So how does that make traffic king?
