Libya war is going to go belly up
News is that countries who backed the no fly zone are saying they did not agree to the war.
It looks like some countries feel they were tricked into suporting somthing differtent to what was put forward. Am I the only one who thinks there is somthing not right about this war? There are many countries were the leader is treating its people badly, but we look the other way. So why now? If he had nukes would we be doing this? If they did not have oil would we bother? It feels so suspect. Mabe it will be over in a day and thats what they are hoping that they will surrender and thats it. If not what will they do? will troops end up going in?

Mullen says stalemate a possibility in Libya Admiral Mike Mullen, the top U.S. military commander, on Sunday said the end-game of military action in Libya was "very uncertain" and acknowledged it could end in a stalemate with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. BP Agrees Major Exploration and Production Deal with Libya
http://www.bp.com/genericarticle.do?...ntId=703 3600 its all about business. its like all wars, trade is the most important issue. even ww2 countries were trading with germany. its just all a load of rubbish to thing its about looking after people. its about the cash. i suspect that uk and usa know that they need to suport the ones that will give them access to oil. its like all these oil rich countries, the people stay poor, its us who get rich from them.

This is an air and naval war, not a no fly zone; so maybe some people are
now seeing the reality.

do not forget they have some great weapons. mainly as we (UK) supplied them. i supose its a win win for the uk. if we loose at least we can claim it was due to them having great wepons. plus we can sell them more as they will need them. mabe this is just to encourage them to buy more arms from us.

there is a great film were all the tv news crews are in Iraq at the start of the war.
They have this US chap from the army, who everyone loves. he is the usa army spoksman for the media. during the film all the stations are reporting that the usa has captured a bridge and a town in Iraq. a local expert says, grab a map. he says where is the bridge in the town. it does not exsist. all the media had reported what they had been told. but non even thought about looking at a map. yes the usa had got the town. but they added the bridge to make it sound an even bigger victory. and thats the problem. the uk, usa and others will have the army report all great stuff.

a few years ago they had all the oil tankers parked out to sea near the uk, as there was some issues with oil and wanted to make it more expensive. its one big con. but we get suckered into it.

Oil is a fungible good. If the supply to whoever actually buys direct from Libya dries up then the price worldwide goes up to cover it.

Libya produces 2% of the worlds oil. Cut that supply and worldwide prices go up 2.5% overnight. That's why I replied what I did as America still has a financial interest in getting Libyan oil supplies going again. Seem to be arguing with you a lot this week which is unusual. You been doing lines of the radioactive dust coming in off the Pacific, or have I sat in the sun too much? ![]()

my comment was based on the view that this is being led by uk/france, reason being they have the MOST to gain or lose. since we do not deal directly with libya, we can and are taking a 2ndary role. but due to the fact we are all partners nato- nato partners support nato partners, we can't not participate. not to mention like it or not, the u.s. is the leader of the free world and as such, expected to play a role. frankly, it's all fucking stupid. |

Gadafi needs to be wiped out. I hope he surrenders and this ends quickly, but the fucker is obviously out of his mind. I fully support all counties involved in helping the rebel forces.

I'm in quite a unique position from most here in that I'm listening to the French media and the UK media and well, there are very different messages: The French media is reporting nothiing on bombing tanks yet saying it took out command and control centres in its sortées that would be used for Libyan air strikes if left in place. The UK media is actively reporting tanks being blown up (wtf has that to do with a no FLY zone) and pro-Gaddafi supporter casualties. I wouldn't trust a single word spoken in the French media as even the independents are under a tight leash... NOTHING and I mean nothing was even uttered about Gaddafi's claim that he supported Sarkosi's election campaign. If the French media was independent they would have at least reported that massive claim, but then blasted the possible impossibility of it. A no fly zone enforcement - 100%. Aiding the resistance more than that, I'm open for debate. Flat out wiping out the power in place, no way. ---edit - part of Gaddafi's complex destroyed in recent sortés - wtf is this? OK, sure he can control things from this place, but how can this be justified under a "No-fly zone enforced coalition"?
