This seo expert started to scam its buyers, we paid a big amount of $$ for placing our links, after some time he removed our links to have low OBL. after we soaw that, he did not respond, then put links in other way we asked - penguin unfriendly way.
Until now i did not get his response. Sites got penalized regarding this.

Hi RedTube. First off, I have no emails, icq, or skypes regarding this issue. Any link issue is easily resolved, but never the less, you were not penalized for anything link related. The algorithm Google has had in place for a few years now does not penalize for link issues. It does benefit if done properly, but the reasoning for no penalties is as follows:

Google recognizes that if they penalized for improper link building, then any site owner could simply throw 1,000,000 bad backlinks at a competitor and knock them off the search engines.

So, while I am sorry that you are undergoing penalties, which I would be happy to link into for you, it was not from any link issues on our end. Since you are having issues with your links, please email me seo ATT xratedseo d0t com, and ill will get this resolved.

It's true, link changes like the one you're talking about won't result in penalties. Penguin does look at your link profile, but with more of an emphasis on anchor text patterns than link placement or quality.

If you did get penalized it's more likely something to do with an element of your site you have direct control over, such as your optimization techniques, your link building history or who you're linking out to.

if your website gets penalized, it would not be in the the search index

if your website gets an over optimized penalty for a keyword, causing you to lose rank for that keyword, then you need more inlinks using other keywords to dillute the over optimization penalty.

Some people fall into the trap. They see their ranks fall for a keyword and add tons of links using that same keyword to try and save it...but, they actually make it worse. Now you know better.

Never stop building inlinks. Use 5 or 6 keywords per site to avoid such penalties. IMHO

but adding more inlinks using other keywords after the over optimized penalty doesn't mean the penalty goes away.. or does it?

It's not so much a penalty as it is link devaluation. If you had a bunch of low quality links with exact match anchors than Pengin would have resulted in a devaluation of these links. So to pull a site back up you'd need to build new links, as ~ray mentioned, using a wider variety of anchors and link sources.

So if your target phrase is 'naked teens', for example, you might want to aim for building new links with around 40% of your anchors using 'naked teens' and another 50% being related phrases like 'nude teens' and 'naked girls'.. Google knows these are directly related to 'naked teens' so they'll help improve your ranks for that, and will consequently give you some ranks for those related phrases as well. The last 10% or so should use generic anchors like 'continue' or 'click here'.. since those tend to occur naturally.

This is assuming your drop in ranks were actually caused by a devaluation of your links, penalties for over optimized pages, hidden links and links pointing bad sites are all wrapped up into Penguin as well.

you can either remove links until you are not over optimized for that keyword.. or you can add more keywords using different anchors until you are not over optimized for that keyword.

If that doesn't work, then perhaps google is looking at your site and the way it's built as well as its outbound links. Does your keyword appear too many times on the page? (spammy) Do you link to credible sites in the same niche?

All parts of the puzzle.

That depends on who performs them. Some will scam you. Some will get you results. Sometimes the results you get won't make you as much money as you thought and you may end up losing on the deal. And some other times all it takes is a little push to take you where you need to increase your bottom line significantly. If you're #5 for a big keyword and they push you to #4, it may not sound like much to most people, but in most cases the traffic will double, for that keyword. You'll still see people bitching that the SEO they hired hardly lifted a finger and thus scammed them.

If you're #5 for a big keyword and they push you to #4, it may not sound like much to most people, but in most cases the traffic will double, for that keyword. well said. It has always been our opinion that when it comes to SEO, it is not about the quantity, but the quality. We have people all the time tell us they want 5,000,000 uniques a day from the SERPs. I then have to ask if they are looking for traffic for sales. SE traffic should be focused on sales while other sources are good for traffic simply to lower your Alexa. I would rather a client get 100k a day and covert 1:300 then get 1 Million per day and covert 1:110,000

SEO is not only a full time job to get ranked, but a full time job to stay ranked.

I finally received an email from you last night, responded immediately. Same thing would have occurred had I received any other emails from you previous to this thread.
