Mayors Money - $5 per check now?
doesn't bother me really, just wierd is all....$5 is pretty hefty for a check fee, what exactly costs $5 for a check to be cut and mailed? do they use some outside service?

gold plating, methinx!

damn . . .
|
Much larger programs cutting way more checks than them, and don't charge.
|
Wow, bit steep in my opinion.
|
Sending out checks costs money, if they didn't charge a fee it would result in lower payouts.
|
Which retard thinks that the webmasters should pay to run the fucking sponsor's business?? That's fucking ridiculous. I would be much more fucking disturbed if they were my sponsor.
What's next, $10 fee to all affiliates for 'hosted gallery server rental' ? |
Yeah that's pretty steep.
Paycom still charges $2 I think. Most PPS programs don't charge anything. |
That fee seems a bit odd.
|
it must be the "handling" fee

hummm, if they send 2 checks a week and have a low payout they can claw back $40 from small accounts....
not a bad idea....... :2 cents: |
Conversions are in the toilet. It's not like they'll be mailing as many checks as they used to anyway.

total crap imho. it's a cost of doing business with affiliates... another one that chaps my ass is the 2-4 dollar epass fee when they've already got a check cutting fee. WTF I have to pay to get my money??? lame...

So, how much does it cost to receive by wire? |
i couldn't care less, since the wire fee is usually $20 anyway
|
As more and more programs feel the pinch of shorter rebills, higher content production costs, and significantly poorer conversions, they will look in every corner for ways to make money or save costs on the bottom line. The easiest way to do this is to pass expenses on to the affiliates.
Realitically, a check in the mail costs about $1.00 (postage, envelope, check costs) upwards to $2.00 if you include the manpower required to get the checks in the envelope, etc. If your staff is really expensive or if you are trying to sink other costs into the check operations, it can cost you more. It is all about turning a cost center into a revenue neutral or even a minor profit center. Instead of losing maybe $1000 a week mailing checks (assume 500 checks at $2 each) you could instead turn a $1500 profit ($2500 in fees less the $1000 costs). On a weekly program, this could push an extra 80k a year to the bottom line. |
Seems a bit steep to get a check.. Enless they have some LOWER cost alternative way that they are trying to get people to go to instead. I have not looked if this is the case yet.. Does anyone know?

I just talked to a guy from my local bank - if i had to send out printed checks from them, it wouldt cost 5 $ pr check, unless i had a big volume...
|
maybe the Mayor needs Beer money.....
|
They also offer epass for free.

The point about the whole thing is that it reveals so much about how Mayors Money treats their webmasters. Not only is it poor business practice, but it is absolutely laughable that they think it's acceptable to charge the webmasters for their own business expenses. It is evidence of a sinking ship, poor business fundamentals, and if I was pushing them I would be immediately looking elsewhere. In a 9-5 job would you accept if your boss deducted $5 from your wage every month for 'wage payment expenses'? This is utterly unforgivable. |

it does cost $5+ to have an outside service print and ship checks.

Next fees will be the "content shooting fee" and "image color correction fee" and the "video encoding fee"... pretty soon we will all send joins just for the fun of it. |
You guys are pretty funny :)
Fact is, checks are retarded. I don't pay employees by check nor my bills nor anything at all for that matter. Checks are an archaic throw back from last century. I am attempting to make it less appealing to get a check and more appealing to get your money instantly with Epassporte. Hell I am even paying for your new Epassporte account and I will set it up for you. If you don't like getting your money instantly then you may CHOOSE to pay $5 and get a check. |

Wire fees are the same as they always have been. Domestic wire 30 Int 40. Epassporte FREE (and we'll set up your account for FREE) |

Correct me if I am wrong. To get money by epass is a $2 charge for them to send it. To withdraw it is another $2. So to get paid by epass is $4 and check is $5 so a $1 diff to get checks?
|
Wow, charging $5 to cut a check? That's ridiculously high. Meatcash charges like $2.95 to cut a check and I thought that was bad. Well, if sponsors are going to start charging us affiliates this much to cut a check, they might as well start charging us for the bandwidth we burn using their free hosted galleries. Or maybe charge us a licensing fee for the free content we use to promote their sites.
|
Fuck them thats shits for the birds I'll never use anyone charging for checks. does the lazy ass bitch payroll clerk need a fucking raise or something
