This is how most of us started out. In early '99 I had to buy my content to promote sponsors. Very very few sponsors that provided you with free content then. FHG's were not invented yet etcetc.

Porn not dead...

However I agree that Affiliate model is completely destroyed.

But porn will be there, however now it's free and ILLEGAL sites are doing most of the money.. The money that affiliates used to make...

BTW It's true that in 2010 there are more internet surfers than EVER...

However MOST adult webmasters are doing less money than, let's say "2005".

The truth is that surfers are different now.. The first thing they do is go to Facebook or Twitter.. They WASTE a lot of time in those sites... HOURS AND HOURS each day are wasted in facebook and twitter, for nothing, but nosense chit-chat.

Before, they had that time available to enter other sites and also adult. Now, some people even think that internet is FACEBOOK and nothing else.

Some people turn on their computers, enter internet and they go directly to facebook. When they close facebook, they disconnect and turn off the computer.

The fucker lucky bastard of Mark SUCKER-BERG capitalized a lot of the traffic, that's for sure.

Now, If a surfer sees a hot chick on one of your sites, the first thing they do is look up their name, then go and search their twitter profiles to follow them, or try to add them as friends on facebook... Or look for free videos on illegal forums.

And no, I'm not talking about tubes.

??? How can porn be dead. Half of GFY guys have not even given us a chance or tried sell our websites & yet we live very nicely off them.

Over the last 3 years, I bought new cameras, pc & laptops. I have nearly finished my swimming pool & pay my car & insurance of £450 a month.

Other than our websites, we do a little webcam, occasionally escort, but thats rarely & have only sold a cpl of our scenes on a dvd.

Porn shall never die & most certainly affiliate models shall not neither.

Oh, to those of you in the UK, shall be doing a party barbicue sometime this summer for webmasters, your on the pre invitations already ;)

If you are an exclusive porn affil and you have over 25,000 posts at gfy over the last few years, chances are you have not done ENOUGH homework. (not to anyone in partucular)

I mean if you just created a page and posted your bs on it the last 8 years and put it out on a domain, that 25,000 entry page almost surely would have made you more than you ended up getting here.

This place is (was) for paysite owners to sit all day and hopefully get more traffic. It is not the place for an affil to fuck off all day.

But I think most guys with that many posts dont have to pay the electric bill. There are exceptions of course.

Keep telling yourselves porn is dead while I keep on expanding and making bank.

Love this shit.

I HIGHLY doubt any affiliate program is going to tell me, sorry but I no longer want you to generate me thousands of dollars. Get real.

That much is true. I bet a lot more programs have closed up shop then have been announced publicly. As long as they can keep paying the minions, they will squeak by.

Yeah affiliate traffic is never going to go away. However the acceptance of new affiliates to ones program is going to be what has already changed and will keep on changing and becoming more strict.

Instead of signing up and being good to go. You will have to contact them and ask for acceptance, prove that you have real traffic and can add real value to their program, then get the signup form, signup and wait for approval, and finally begin sending traffic. The affiliate managers will be more in charge of watching affiliate fraud instead of in charge of getting them whatever they want or basically board whoring. Maybe not totally but there will be more emphasis on this.

That is all, many programs will continue going out of business but only the ones that dont sell. Plenty still do sell and will continue too. There is no shame in shutting down an affiliate program, if its not working its not working. You gotta do something else. The only shame is pretending it is working and keeping doing what is not making you money. For example Beta Dollars truthfully at this point will most likely be shut down in the coming months, as its probably the least profitable sector of my adult business. Its cool though, its just the way it is. I cant keep up with the porn pros and the brazzers and the you name its. So I'll stick to building traffic.

You may be right but I must say.. the winners know they can always get rid of you. I have yet to see.. almost always.. the sign of a loser prog is hoops to jump thru when signing up.

If I am here to join your prog, get my ass out into the field now. Dont think your prog is so special.

I just joined a winning prog. Kicking ass. It is owned by old school major players. They know how this biz works. And they are fucking selling like hotcakes. And guess what? Of course, no hoops.

Some paysite owners know how to sell. Simple as that. Some dont.

Hoops tells me that YOU (the prog placing hoops) dont know shit about this biz and are prob another guy thinking they can create a paysite and make millions.

It is called old school webmaster savvy. So pull down all hoops.

Off my box. There are exceptions of course.

True, the affiliate is still making (big) money, he just runs a tube. He is still an affil. (in certain cases of course)

So yes we all agree that porn is way harder to sell overall for many reasons but it also has..

nothing to do with the affiliate or the affiliate model being in danger.

If your sites dont sell yes then the affil is in danger..

that he may not get payed in the end.

But we all see this coming down Madison Ave. as the stats tank first. Guys selling memberships (we know who most are) are not going anywhere (for a long while) and nether is the great affil - paysite relationship.

I LOVE my paysite owners. And I so WANT to SCREAM thanks to them.

But alas I know you just dont do that. Well at least I dont.

But they love me and I love them.

and we aints goin anywheres

some is but we aints.

I finally have time to pull more sponsors.

I'm hoping to get under 15.

I might make it.

And dont you lower it Nifty. You called the hand at 15. You played your cards.

I truley hope you win the hand. I do.

Porn is not dead, in fact, with it being more readily accepted as a norm in mainstream society, porn will only grow in popularity.

As long as there are guys with dicks and girls with tits, pussy, and ass, porn will continue to live on

1:676 this month across the network; mostly tube traffic...great sponsors, good sponsors, bad sponsors, non-converting sponsors.

Oh noz, I'm shutting everything off tomorrow!

PANIC! PANIC! PANIC!

EDIT: by tube traffic I mean sponsor provided vids wrapped with banners and text links ... no full length shit with cam/dating upsells.

Annoying old thread. Porn is dead, porn is alive, porn is what you make of it. It's all relative really?

For me porn is boring. Made some great money out of it and still make a bit, but I make more from selling mainstream stuff. I make 25k a month just pushing amazon adds and that just 1 of about 30 income streams. I am a member of 6 cpa networks. Now thats where the real $$$ are at. There are guys in some of my networks making 100k a day. One guy when Acai berries first came out was spending $80k a day on adwords, grossing $300k a day in sales. Cleaning out all stocks of the 4 major acai importers every day, they couldn't keep up with him. Pedaling porn is just boring for me, not because there isn't money in it, there is,maybe not as much as there used to be?, but I like the challenge of the NEW. Selling something new no one or at least very few have sold before.

I don't know why but porn seems to narrow your focus, you spend so much time looking at titties and pussy you get distracted from the other opportunities out there. Well at least that was the case for me.

One thing I have to say, What I learned in the early days of porn when applied to the mainstream, kills it. The mainstream guys have caught up but my knowledge from the early porn days has kept me in good stead.

The mainstream guys have caught up but my knowledge from the early porn days has kept me in good stead.
this guy is right on point you guys should listen up

No but a lot who think they're safe are going to find out they're not.

There will be a huge loss of mainstream porn sites. Then those who are left will ask themselves why they're spending so much on traffic, when a handful of sites have the vast amount.

Affiliates don't create surfers, they guide them once they're on the net. The thing that keeps affiliates going is 1000s of sites to send surfers to. Whittle that down to 100s and 10s of sites with affiliates and the game changes.

I've been saying the affiliate programs have been dead for a long time. I shut my affiliate program down over a year ago and now only accept people that can prove solid sales. I've turned a lot away. I also don't give my content to just any tom dick and harry to come in and promote. Prove to me you can make sales on the standard stuff, and I'll get you more, but no one is going to come in, get everything then toss it all over hell. Also, if I have to hold your hand your gone. My best affiliates, I never hear from. They come and get what they need, take it and make money. Done. If you have to have me walk you though this or that or create special things for you, basically fuck off. If I'm doing all that work for you then I might as well just post the damn stuff myself and cut you out of the loop.

I've wondered for a long time what real benefit the affiliate model brought. Sure, there is the argument that my stuff is being put places I would not have thought to otherwise and has new eyeballs on it that might come over to the site. But, In my case, the site sells itself anyways via word of mouth. Always has, always will. The negative of the affiliate model is much greater... to many and your saturating the fuck out of your content so you lose any shock value (one of my main selling points).

Sure, there are some good affiliates out there. I have a dozen or so that have been pushing the site for years, some since it started over 10 years ago that still make sales and that's great. Because of that I also have to wonder, is it fair to them to bring in these newbie affiliates who are doing nothing but "in effect" taking sales away from them?

Add to this that affiliates today are NOT like affiliates from just 5 years ago. Todays affiliates want you to do EVERYTHING for them. Give them free content, give them hosting, give them design work, give them bandwidth, give give give... and in effect for all that, expect to make MORE per sale than the site owner. Then they bitch when you try to recoup some of that.

The latest one I read on here was the bitch fest about site owners having affiliate links inside the members area... Dude... once a member is sold, and in my members area, he's mine, not yours. You get paid your fee for the sign up and for the recurring billing but that's were the line is drawn. Why the fuck would I pay out to anyone based on a link inside my own site? Idiotic. Especially as it would be in my case, a link thats there because I worked with the person directly, shot content with them, etc.

It's affiliates like these that have soured site owners and programs in general.

Then lets look at the net today... Where is all the traffic. The fucking tubes. As bad as that is for us pay sites this is the nail in the coffin for affiliates. Why would I pay an affiliate to take my stuff and post it over to a tube site. Why not just let the tube be their own affiliate and cut out the middle man?

That being said, if your thinking of promoting me, and your thinking about doing it on tubes... think otherwise. I'm not interested. I'll provide some content (specific and via my limitations) that I want those tubes to have to promote me.

I guess what it comes down to today is those of us that are stable, and have been around a long time that DIDN'T base their "programs" on the affiliate model, carding, scamming etc are looking at the fucked up mess it's become and wondering why even deal with these idiots in the first place. If your an affiliate that pushed any of that crap (which basically destroyed honest websites) I'm not remotely interested in having you push me.

Believe me, I get a chuckle every-time I see the standard "so and so just went under and are not paying me my $100 PPS on a $2.00 join" thread. They are great cause anyone posting in those threads whining and crying is obviously a thief themselves by association. Pushing those shady shit sites that fucked so many surfers out of greed and fucking everyone else over in the process, eat your cake. Karma's a bitch.

Meanwhile I chug along...
